Cleaned inside and out with Eco Touch waterless car wash products (http://ecotouch.net/). A friend has been using it for a year on his A4 so I gave it a try. Pretty easy and worked great.
Then, I did spacers
5mm up front (thanks GregNelson for those), 11.5 at the back from ECS. I noticed that my front right wheel was missing all 5 lug nut covers...time to get wheel locks.

TSW Valencia 18x8 with 215/35 front 18x9.5 with 235/35 rear. We will see how the staggered works. If it starts messing with things I'll sell them. The tires should be close enough in diameter after stretching the 235 over a 9.5 to make it irrelevant. I hope at least. It's only a 2.25% diameter difference if they were put on the same wheel width. Hopefully I'm understanding everything right haha
tankdeer
01-30-2012, 12:22 PM
You should be ok. From my knowledge Quattro likes to be within 3% difference. Oh and FWIW, stretching tires doesn't change rolling diameter. Steel belts don't stretch. [;)]
Lukerobbins03
01-30-2012, 12:32 PM
True. Yeah I had heard the 3% thing too. I used the calculator on 1010tires website to make sure it should be good. I don't foresee any issues. I have always liked the staggered look and I haven't seen these wheels around except on an s5 that looks awesome on here. Im getting married the weekend before h2o this year so my buddy may be taking my car there while I'm on my honeymoon. That's going to bug the shit out of me. Guess I will be on a beach somewhere though so its ok.

Replaced Rear pads, fronts were done in November, [wrench] Right rear Alpin PA 3 is trashed,[rolleyes] fortunately I have a compatible spare tire, winter is basically over for this neck of the woods, so the winter set up is about to be removed. Time to call a friend and see if those wheels and tires are still available....[confused]
Still have to change the oil and filter over the next two days. The DD is in need of TLC[:(]
The Avant was the easy part, just replaced the drive-axle in the 03 Ford FX4 Ranger ( work-truck ) Yummy....The undercarriage looks like the truck has been sitting in a farmers field for years....Hmmmm, wirebrush and recoat time..I love Ford and their marketing strategy.. teased her some by test fitting these...19" ABT's. Damn things would not clear my bbk on the sedan (w/o too much spacing and poke), so come this summer she will be a lucky lady. Pic whoring a bit as I have another thread explaining my headache with these damn things...Figure the avant can pull off the 19's easier anyway. Thing about these is they are actually 18" faces on 19" barrels. The sedan would actually have looked very nice imo rolling on these. Oh well...

picked up a set of factory 16" speed line rims at a pawnshop , found them on craigs list. got the entire set of 4 for 125.00 out the door. I examined them really well. got #1,3,4,5 . I guess someone had a flat sometime and left 2 in the trunk. still not bad 2 had good tires and 2 were bald.. going to mount them tomorrow switch out my other rims same size. look in good condition for their age, hope they balance good..
still not bad for a risk for 125.00 just wanted 1 for a full-size spare .. but got the whole set... :)

While it needs some tweaking, and a definite upgrade to the center channel, it sounds awesome. The other thing I need to do is figure out a way to clean up the rats nest of wires.

So today it was 55˚ outside...so I decided to pull a Ferris Bueller and bail on work.
Pulled the front clip off and did all kinds of things I've been meaning to do for ages.
1) Installed my Fluidampr crank pulley! I'm banishing the ECS pulley (that's been on there for years) to the land of wind and ghosts. Stupid unbalanced piece of crap. I'm still convinced that's why I had two TB tensioners fail prematurely. No pictures...its not very exciting since its just a pulley! Looking forward to putting some miles on this to see if its really all that.
2) Replaced my driver's side SMIC with a unit I picked up off another AZ buddy...like a year ago. I have no idea what happened to the original SMIC, but it was in rough shape. One of the mounting tabs was broken off, and the whole thing was more of a rhombus shape than rectangular. WTF! I swear it wasn't me. Some piece of shite "technician" did this to my car...
http://idisk.me.com/ericbullock/Public/audi/SMIC.JPG
Anyone curious about what a dual SMIC setup looks like...here's a photo (with the "new driver's side unit in place). Yeah...my A/C condenser has seen better days. But it works and I'm not about to spend $200+ on a new one!
http://idisk.me.com/ericbullock/Public/audi/DSMIC.JPG
3) Installed the [U]034 power steering cooler (http://www.034motorsport.com/engine-components-power-steering-cooler-p-710.html) upgrade I've had sitting in my garage for ages. I figured since I had the front clip off and the factory "cooler" disconnected I may as well. Why 034 couldn't include a pair of 3/8" hose barbs I don't understand at all. Wankers! Lucky for me I had two sitting in my toolbox and was able to get it installed. Its a decent little PS cooler considering the cost. I'd have preferred to throw on a small Setrab cooler but that would have been about 3x the cost. No pics of that either as it was late and I very much wanted to start pounding beers. Should offer some improved cooling once the temps start to rise. The factory "cooler" is a joke.

Thanks I did it myself. Have you ever gone in for an oil consumption test? The dealership has to update your ECU to the newest version of their software when they do this. The problem is that REVO isn't hasn't been able to successfully flash the updated (MY2012) ECU's. I sent my ECU to Georgia a while ago and they've been working on it without any luck. They almost figured it out, but when a customer tried switching from 91 octane to stock mode before going to the dealership, the ECU switched the program to 93 mode. I have no idea how much longer it will take, but I've been without a tune for over two months now and it's killing me. Hopefully they can work out all of the glitches and get my car flashed this month. If everything works out, you can test drive my avant so that you can figure out if REVO is a tune that you would want to go with.

Nope, a friend of mine works at a dealership and we took it into his work to use the lift. He barely used the air tools, for the fronts he used a socket wrench that has a hole through the top and stuck the allen wrench through there while he ratcheted. He didn't like the idea of using the impact and spinning the strut piston.. I dunno just glad I had help and didn't have to do it on my own. Maybe I'm getting old, the coils are maxed out in the rear and the car sits slightly below 25" FTG and it seems too low. I'm planning on raising it about 1/4-1/2".

The method you described is what I tried and failed at. The allen wrench ended up stripping out the socket it goes in. Maybe I just had the wrong size or something. In the past I've used an impact and it worked perfectly. It didn't really spind the strut piston very much at all - just zipped the nut right off. Glad you ever able to get them installed.

i did the foglight mod which eliminates the headlights having to be on to have the fogs come on. now i drive around with the fogs as daytime running lights:)
Which DIY did you use? I installed my 6000k fog HIDs today and would like to do this mod. There's one out there that requires you tap off fuse #27....not sure this works for an A6. Thanks.

i used the one for the b5 s4 where you take the relay from the glove box arear and cut pins off and sauter wires from 3 pins. not sure if its the same for an a6. the writeup was from audiworld.

I have always preferred the 6000k bulbs; kind of mid-range on the kelvin scale - but pure white light. As you go lower down the spectrum, you get yellow; higher up, more bluish/purple.

I think to pull off the orange, the wheels need to be bigger/car lower. Although it says they are 19's, they look small though and I think that is what makes them look odd. Orange looks better than green though.

This. I noticed on my last trip with my box that I had more weight in the rear of it, than the front, and it gave a good flex - even though there was no way it was coming off the car.
Note to self - need to more evenly distribute the weight!

Its stable at hwy speeds, but that fan they had blowing into the front of the cars was intense. I'm sure with out the car actually moving it caused it to bounce like that. That fan lowered the IAT a ton! Huge wheel turbine with these huge fins on it. It was drying the water off my car when they turned it on.
