Just in time for me getting my 2009! :)

1. The rear brake DIY should be replaced with a single post thread about how to do it with nothing more than the cars battery, speaker wire, and a C clamp. SO EASY! It should also be BOLD and HIGHLIGHTED.....as I spent a good hour damn near breaking mine trying to do them before I realized I had to do the special parking brake trick.....no VAGCOM required. But I ordered one anyway, so I can clear the codes from trying to do the brakes before reading the DIY thread, and do other stuff.

2. Does anyone have a DIY for replacing the high pressure power steering hose? I have the 2009 with the shudder issue and want to replace it with the updated part. Audi dealer wants $600+ tax. A 50k mile warranty is pathetic for such issues...it's like the first buyers are nothing more than beta testers...not even free beta testers, but beta testers who will PAY the company to test their inferior products. Sad. Anyway, I can get the hose for $170 and do it myself, just want a write up before I tackle it as this is my daily driver.

Yes, this should def be a sticky. If possible, it should be updated with all TSBs or common issues with our cars for new buyers to be aware of, along with all recommended fixes, maintenance, updates, etc.....there was a really good one for the e46 BMW M3 I used when I owned that.

What is the rear brake trick? Now that I have jack stands and a breaker bar I'm more interested in doing my own work.

you CAN hotwire the motor to the rear parking brake if you remove the plug harness and stick two wires, with the other ends connected to a car battery, to each of the terminals inside the plug. From what I read, you have to be careful to not run the motor in or out too far.

I thought about doing this, then figured since a vag cable is only $300ish and useful for other things, better safe than sorry. With the amount of times now I have needed to open the rear brakes, I am glad I have the cable to do it in a few minutes vs. dragging a car battery around and hoping that I don't cross the streams.

It's actually stupid easy, just use the car's own battery, why would you "lug one around"?

I had my girl touch the wires to the batt under the hood while I held them to the parking brake motor. Works perfectly. Only gotta open them, once the brakes are done, just use the parking brake switch in the car to close and reopen.

I just use it to see what the dealer would do as the mIles go on and change out whatever they would as if I brought it in. No way I'd ever have them do anything to my car, I do it myself.

1.) Curl the fingers on your dominant hand into a fist.
2.) Use that to punch yourself square in the center of the face.
3.) Pick up the "dope" sticker
4.) Throw said sticker in the trash
5.) Enjoy!
