Get it, rebroo instead of review? GAH!

While I have too much time on my hands, figure I can post, and come back to edit as time passes, my opinion on the stuff I have added to my car. I'll try to give each a pedal responce rating between Dagree1 and Dagree5 with 5 being the best.

    My B8 A4 mod rebroos

    034 Street Density Transmission Mount
    http://store.034motorsport.com/densi...s5-q5-sq5.html

A couple of notes for the instructions:
    1. Should mention blue loc-tite for the two transmission mount bolts. This has shown to be pretty vital for keeping it tight.
    2. Only need to remove the front 13mm nut to take down the crossmember.

    Review.
I could immediately feel that the drivetrain was tighter with this installed. The car moves with no hesitation when the clutch is released. Taking off too, there was no slop when getting on and off the throttle. I like how solid it makes transitions feel.

    The bad:
There is a lot more NVH, mostly V than I want. It's almost all isolated around 2000 rpm and feels like the car has a bent axle. Even has a rhythm to it. I'll give it a few days to see if things soften up. If not, this might be one I take back off. No matter what gear I'm in, the car rumbles at 2000, plus, if I am stopped and want to rev the engine, feels like a small washing machine is under my seat.

Have given it over 200 miles now to wear in and the rumbling/vibration when coasting to slow down in gear or around 2000 rpm is way too much for me. My car is pretty stiff already with sways, stock sport suspension, moog endlinks and the other 034 inserts.

Score: Dagree1.5 - helped with drive-train slop, but added too much NVH

Others have had much better experiences with this than I did, and don't have a significant increase in vibration. Lambda13 gives his a 4.5. Need a score from one of the Russian judges.

Yeah. Feels like the engine is running really rough or a tire is loose. Will be interesting to see more reviews.

Ultra Racing Strut Bar - I paid $120
    UR-TW2-1412

Short review: Totally worth it, go buy one.

I had already installed a CR-15 brace right behind the firewall under the flimsy stock strut brace and it made a big difference in steering response. Adding this one feels like it took out the rest of the body flex that made quick turns feel mushy. The difference now reminds me watching a cat run and change directions, there isn't a lag when I turn the wheel now, the front grabs and goes there.

    Took 10 minutes to install.

Yeah, we have a second firewall right behind the engine, but it is not very thick and not one connected piece all of the way across. I had my stock strut brace off before installing and that firewall overlaps freely about 1/4 of the way over from the driver side. You can move it around easily by pushing or pulling. An aftermarket strut bar does make a big difference in how quick the car responds to quick turning inputs.

    Score: Dagree 4
I believe it does a lot of what the Alu Kreuz does for a margin of the price. Plus, it's a neat place to put stickers. If EC, ECS or 034 started selling something similar, they would be on a lot more cars.

    U2Nelson's CR-15 Strut Brace
$120, purchase by sending him a PM. Can't find it on eBay or ECS and Eurocode hasn't copied it yet with a red version. (as of 9/25/15)

OK, so on this one, I sort of stole his idea and made my own out of a $5 piece of angle iron. Took me a few hours to get right, so I would recommend just buying his, it looks a lot better. Can get it straight aluminum finish or anodized black.

OldSport did a great install thread.
    http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...altime-Install

Goes right behind the firewall that separates the engine bay from the ECU / Washer tank area. Bolts on easily in under 20 minutes.

Improvement is going to be way more than you expect from a small aluminum square bar. Takes a lot of the hesitation out of quick turns and makes the steering feel more connected. Wish like hell I had thought of this, guy has sold a bunch of them.

per dollar, best mod I've put on my car besides the $2 audizine sticker.

    Score: Dagree 5
Bonus points because it comes from a fellow member, is stealth under the cover and James seems like a great guy.

Funny reading some of the threads on this. Was one guy saying no way it would do anything and he wouldn't want to add the extra weight up front for a car that is already nose heavy. thing probably doesn't weigh 2 pounds.

If someone asked, what handling mod should I get first, this would get my vote for a quick and easy substantial improvement.

    034 Differential Carrier Mount Inserts
    http://store.034motorsport.com/034mo...-aluminum.html

Pricey little buggers at $95 for two small pieces of metal.

this was my initial review. I liked them!

First: My bolts were hella tight and I needed a breaker bar to get them loose. (may have also been the injured rib weakening me)

Second: Use the lube boys. The inserts don't glide on in like the 034 gif shows. They draw in as you tighten the bolt (would be funnier if it was a nut).

    Third: WEEEEEEEEEE. I like it

Already have the trans mount and the spulen diff mount and those made shifting crisper and the car feel more sporty. Maybe the oxygen level in the air tonight is extremely high, but these mounts made the car feel like it has 20 more HP. Throttle response is soooo much better and cornering is a joy as the rear really hooks up.

Made the car feel more RWD than before and felt more responcive.

TORQUE ACCURACY WARNING. If you over tighten this, you'll have a light whining noise under load.

    Score: Dagree 4

There is no scientific method to my scoring. These are a good buy and deliver a better driving feel, also, really easy to install.

I like the transmission mount insert a lot. It's the best of the drive-train inserts to get, in my opinion. Review forthcoming.

Just had a thought, when you write the review for each item on the list, link the post number next to it so that people can quickly find them.

034 Transmission Mount Insert - Once imitated, never duplicated
    http://store.034motorsport.com/trans...a5-s5-rs5.html

Should be $45 instead of $75

    My initial thoughts were:
If you like the total isolation of the drivetrain, then that is lost. I can feel the car better in my seat and hands now, but not in a harsh way at all, just a more connected feeling. No more noise. It does seem stiffer and bumps a bit harsher, but I have the sport suspension already.

As for the MT, the best example i have is the 1-2 shift when it used to take a lot of finesse to prevent my passengers head from moving forward when I depressed the clutch then back when I re-engaged the gears. I guess the looseness in the system allowed a lot of inertia shifting that is gone now. Engagement into gears is more immediate too, both with up-shifting and down-shifting. I missed the tightness I felt in lower gears in my 6mt Acura TL when I went to this car and thought it was just due to the turbo vs NA. Now, the car is ready for any changes in input and has near immediate response. I can launch better now too without the chain reaction feeling of waiting.

This thing needs to be torqued correctly and needs blue loc-tite. Too loose or no loc-tite and there is more slop than stock.

My favorite mount/insert that I've put on while on my back, that has to do with a car. Not pertaining to a car, I've achieved over 9000....

If you ever feel like your car moves as though there is rope between the motor and the wheels and you wait for the slack to tighten, this is for you.

    Plus, 034 writes great instructions.

    Dual SBP8A Powered Sub
    http://www.amazon.com/Dual-SBP8A-160.../dp/B002WN2JS4
    I think I found one for $60

Go easy on me Lambda13, I know you are an audio geek and this may lame you out.

After putting a YUGE sub in the back of my step-sons car, his mom and I both decided we wanted more bass. I put one in her M35X and one in my A4.

It's really easy to install a sub in the trunk. Posted my install notes here:

Small box but it puts out great sound. I found it on many lists of the best powered subs to buy. This way, it's easy for me to unplug and remove if I need more trunk space. Plus, my kids think the blue light is sweet.

Looks like this, I don't have that capacitor thing though.

I have a 500/1 and a 10w3 in my trunk. For SHAME sir. FOR SHAME. Blue LED's. Talk of capacitors for an amp that doesn't even put out 200w peak. Or just capacitors in general is a joke, all they do is put more strain on your charging system and hardly do anything to actually improve performance. I am firmly anti-capacitor as they hold very little charge, discharge super quick and put additional strain on the alternator. I saw that sub in your original list and was like I hope he's joking about the Dual thing... Sounds like So Cold by Breaking Benjamin?

Ultra Racing Rear Lower Tie Bar

I got it cheap on "make an offer".

Should have paid attention when I was installing my sway bars, or when replacing my lower control arm that I f'd up when installing my sway bars. Our control arms are already tied together by a beam in the back that this thing mounts on to.

Don't think it did anything for handling. I didn't notice anything, at least. Saw one other person installed it recently but didn't see what they thought of it.
