The system on the A4 (B8) is almost the same as the one used by Mercedes in there "Pre Safe" safety system.

The system can be configured in two ways (as the coding also show)

1) the warning Lights (Turn Signals) enables automatic.
2) the Brake Light begin to flash.

the two options can be enabled at the same time.

If you can read German - or can translate it to a language you can read - you can read about the Adaptive brake lights in more detail

I don't know if it is a good price, but I think you will be more happy in the long run with an original VagCom cable from Ross Tech. This cable can be bought at VagCom in Sweden - with this cable you can use the Norwegian/Swedish and English version of the VagCom software.

It is however possible to buy a Chinese build VagCom cable (works only with old VagCom software) on e.g. eBuy, but I will not recommend the buy of such a cable.

They don't turn completely off.

Normally with no modification done - the LED-strip will get less bright in the side where the indicator is on (when ONLY the LED-strip is active - as with DRL). This behavior can be changed, when Bit 7 is unchecked (or changed from 1 to 0)

If they turn off (or get less bright) - they work as they did when you got your A4/A5 (default configuration) - this behavior can then be changed, so they don't turn off.

The brightness when they normally 'turn off', is the same as when head light is on (xenon) - where both LEDs get less bright.

Rene Sorry to bother you soooo much on this. With my headlights on the led stay on with the same strength when i put the turning signal. During the DAY I put my turning signal on with no headlight ON and the LED turns off....So I suppose the function only works with headlights on. Meaning that with headlights OFF and LED light on only daytime driving the led still turns off when turning signal turned on. Right????

Basically daytime driving with NO headlights ON LED still turns OFF at night driving with headlights on LED stay on same strenght with turning signal on......

Yes, it is only working with the LEDs on - because it is them you are configuring

If they still 'turn off' after you have changed Bit 7 - then the change was not done successfully - try to check the current configuration.

When only LEDs are on (and NO headlights are on) - they should be very bright, and it should be very clear to see that the LED get less bright, in the side where turning signal turned on.

When you say "headlights OFF and LED light on" - how do you turn the LEDs on??

If you have turned the LEDs on as "Parking lights" - the LEDs are not on at full brightness by default - here you need to set "Bit 2 - LEDs remain at full brightness with parking lights"

The LED-strip is meant to be used as DRL - and with DRL the LEDs are on with full brightness on both "0" and "AUTO"

DRL = "Daytime Running Light"

This means that there is always lights on in the front (on A4/A5 with LED-strip), and maybe also the tail lights (in some Countries you need lights on both front and rear - like where I live).

Yes Mines are on full brightness in "O" and "Auto" but when I put my turning signal....the DRL turn off. The function of BIT 7 only work when you have your DRL on along with the parking light this is when BIT 7 works

No, this is not correct.

It should work with both "0" and "AUTO" too.

When you say "the DRL turn off" - is this then just in the side where the turning signal is on??

Bit 7 has after the change a value of 0 - right?? or the whole Byte 3 has a value of 00010101 - in Hex it is 15 (if you have changed Bit 2 as well)

Have you tried to turn all off - vagcom disconnected and ignition off - and then back on, and see if Byte 3 still has the expected value??

This is not a complete list - what counts is the options in the VCDS (Vagcom) interface - and there is the DRL-stays-on-with-turn-signal option still. (I use the 805.3 and 904.0 Beta)

The label-files are impossible to read for the B8-platform - so you need to connect the cable to your car to see which options VCDS offers.

Rene Thankyou so much just got back from the shop and FINALLY the DRL and turning signals are working it seems Bit 7 didn't show "0" and 00010101 from left to right Bit 7 - Bit 0 so he took care of it. Thank you once again for your time spent in helping me.

ohhh - I just forgot to tell you that from now on, you have to remember to tell your workshop that there have been made manual changes to the coding, each time you you are there.

If the workshop receive a software update from Audi and the workshop don't remember or know about the changes, the coding will be overwritten with the default coding, which Audi have registered for your car. The default coding can not be changed/overwritten with your new coding.

I don't know whether you've got the latest software updates from Audi "23D6 Kit 14" - I'll have it next time my A4 is at the shop.

Well this shop is located in Miami, Fl GERMAN MOTORING they are the one that installed my APR and they keep records of all theire customers cars on file for everything they perform to the vehicle so I guess I'll be ok. But thanks for the info.
