I am currently having problems with fitment of a CTS Turbo downpipe on my Allroad. I've removed it from the vehicle. In all likelihood I will be sending it back to the manufacturer. Right now I would not recommend it.

    What type of fitment issue?

Yeah dude, the info is hard to find and most people don't post what is working or not working. Another issue is that not a lot of people know of this section and just like how I was confused, I didn't know what section I should be looking at to find info on the Allroad. I think we should contact a mod and see if they can start an Allroad section.

    There were multiple fitment issues:
    1. The straight section where it connects to the factory exhaust was too long and needed to be cut down in order to make the connection.
    2. The outer diameter of the pipe is slightly smaller than the factory pipe, at the location where it connects to the factory exhaust (same as above). Because of this, I had to modify the connector to allow it to constrict further than it normally would.
    3. The bends in the downpipe don't seem to be accurate. When connected, the pipe wants to run across part of the driveshaft. I needed to use a gear clamp to pull the downpipe away from the driveshaft towards a subframe brace.

Damn, are you sure they sent you the right part?

The part looks like it does on the website. I think it's the right part. It's just not quite shaped correctly. At least not for the Allroad.

Is there a thread for AvantoberFest? I'll turn the Camp allroad post on the first page into an "Events" section.

I had the AWE downpipe removed from my car today, and the stock dp put back on. Sooooo much nicer. The drone is gone. Now I can finally enjoy driving my car again.

For anyone else considering exhaust, I would highly recommend you keep the factory downpipe. With an Avant, there's just too much drone. Probably much easier to deal with in a sedan.

How about DP and no Catback? That looks like the route I'm going with...weld up new tips so it doesn't look too stupid. Really want that E85 tune and I believe is DP is necessary.

I guess your results will vary, because I would suggest differently... I had an SPM street downpipe on my '09 A4 Avant that had a pretty cool sound and was completely drone-free. My AR currently has a full exhaust (RAI test pipe & Billy Boat cat-back), and after putting ~3k miles on it the drone has become very minimal and not at all annoying.

Do you currently have a downpipe on your allroad, or is it the stock one? I have an 034 HFC into the stock DP, then onto the Magnaflow exhaust. I'm happy with this combo, but wouldn't rule out getting another downpipe someday if it drones less. I'll look at that SPM one.

My system connects directly to the test pipe, so it technically has a Billy Boat 3" downpipe but they don't sell downpipes separately from the full exhaust system... I will note, on my old car I had only the SPM street downpipe (w/ HFC) which mated to the OEM cat-back, so I'm not sure if there would be drone with an aftermarket system past the downpipe. All I know is that the SPM downpipe mated to the stock system created zero drone.

Any specs on the OEM Sway Bar sizes? Has

Also I've noticed a huge increase in mpg when driving it in manual mode, especially on the freeway.

26/20mm if I'm not mistaken. Also, I just started noticing that as well. I think its cause when you are in D you go from 7 to 8 down to 7 and again to 8 in seconds with the slightest fluctuation in the throttle. I average 300miles per tank in D. Around 330+ with manual.

I see a few guys running ST, but according to them, they don't make a kit that fits. is the 90618 avant kit what people run?
    what other options?

I'm currently running Vogtland coilovers (Part# 968116), but they're pretty much exactly the same as ST/KW V1. I'm using KW's spacers to raise the rear because it was too much of a drop for me even at its highest setting.

Where did you find the KW spacers you are using with your Vogtlands? I'm on the prowl for some coilovers to replace the Solowerks I have now and will need spacers too. Thanks!

If you mean the partition/dog gate, it's this:

That's good to know as well! My partition has taken some abuse! The part I'm looking for has 4 hooks, one in each corner and holds items down with its stretchy netting (groceries, sporting equipment, etc.).

I'm literally going to flood this place with questions haha

Anybody just weld exhaust tips? If so, where did you get the tips from?

The PO on my car cut out the mufflers and the car doesn't sound to bad but the stock tips look dumb IMO and I want something temp until I buy the Magnaflow system.

Should be plenty of tip options out there. Magnaflow has a ton of different styles.

The heat & twist method should work the same on our cars, and a lot of DSG B8 S4 owners have done it successfully. It looks nice, that's for sure.

Bit the bullet and bought a Hex-Can cable. While waiting for the cable, I browsed the VAG codes section and became completely frustrated with how the section has become. I stopped reading after page 15 with 35+ pages left to browse! Because of this, I plan on coding my 2015 AR and will put together a PDF for others to use for reference. Mind you, this wont be a detail all/end all guide, rather a reference to the more common ones for the newer ARs. Stay tune!

For the most part, the B8 codes from the first page of the main VCDS thread still apply, but there are some differences for the B8.5 facelift models. For those, there is a dedicated thread here that I used for my '13 S4 and '13 allroad.

B8: VCDS & Hidden menu: The complete list
