After doing a lot of research and inquiries, I finally settled on the perfect suspension for my wife's '11 A6 3.0T. The car came equipped as a Sport/Prestige example and after several harsh months my wife demanded that I do something to rectify the situation. After driving her car on some longish trips I really had to agree with her feelings on the harshness issue. I ended up swapping the Sport suspension with another lister for his stock and had my shop swap things over. I also added the individually sourced H&R sway bars from ECS that came in 32mm front and 25mm rear sizing. I had both of them set to the harder settings. In addition, I had already downsized to 18" rims with the ASA 18x8 et35 shown shod with 245/40-18 DWS Extreme Contacts. For winter I have a set of 18x8 replica wheels with 225/45-18 Nokian WRG2s. When weighed the ASA with tires and the stock 19" peelers, there was a 10 lb per tire/rim difference between the 2 sets. Reducing 40 lbs of rolling weight does wonders for handling.
Sure, the car does ride a little high but when you live in the Rocky Mountains that extra ride height does come in handy at times.
As far as the larger front sway bar is concerned, the enhanced roll stiffness brings a whole lot of camber stability. This in turn, pun intended, sets the camber to hold the tire in place and minimize roll over. This actually allows the car to turn-in much more effectively. Even with the softer nature of the all-season DWSs. The car still has that taught German performance sedan ride that we all love but with a non-understeering neutral feel. I am tempted to take this car out to the track with some of my urS4 tires/wheels to see how she really does.
