Went to Anchor Audi in LI for my 15k mile service. Spotted this APR badged S5 cab



I had a shudder in my front brake when braking at highway speeds, so I had them check it out. As I suspected the front rotors and pads needed to be replaced. They said $650 for parts and labor. Needless to say, I was upset. Ok, pads I can maybe understand, but rotors? I was only at 14k miles and I had to replace my rotors? They said it's wear and tear and not covered under warranty. I said bullshit, it shouldn't wear this quickly. The service tech didn't budge. So I called Audi USA and asked them 'Is it common that the rotors wear out at 14k?' They basically gave me a run around answer and said 'well, people's driving habits are different', but they'll see what they can do. 2 hours later I get a call back saying they'll front the parts if I pay for labor'. I said fine, I guess that's fair. 2 new front rotors and pads installed for $175. Not bad. Even got a loaner:

Not much difference, I know but waiting for the coils to settle before I lower it more, the problem is I'm already rubbing with my spacers on (20/25) but only on the highway over dips. Will probably need to stretch my next set of tires when I get my next set of wheels.

Lol, Actually that IS a church parking lot. We wanted the most level ground after install and that was the best place. There were a few parishioners there, I asked and they said they didn't mind, and even took pics of the car. I put in the H&R street coils on. Surprisingly softer than my stock sports suspension.

Just an FYI...with my 20x10 wheels, I run ET 30 f, ET 25 r with absolutely no rubbing. My car has about 1/2" gap between tire and fender which is my opinion is perfect.

If you lower it more you will probably need to run more negative camber and of course change spacers.

Tell me more about those sways man! How does it feel?

Well I can' t comment on the sways alone because I put the coils on at the same time. But I will say there is NO body roll, I take turns and it's like night and day over the stock suspension. I put the setting on the stiffest (attached the end links to the inner hole a opposed to the outer) and won't go back.

So you went stiffest front and rear? I believe EC recommends soft in the front?? I dont pretend to know much about the physics of sways but I though if you go too stiff on the front you will actually lose traction? I dont know...I am going to mount rear sways (28mm Stasis) and probably the EC end links since they look soo sexy!!!!!!!!

I haven't been able to put it to the limit yet, mainly because I just got the coils in and I want them to settle so I can get my alignment (at least the best I can for now). I took a highway exit at nearly 70mph (umm.... in mexico) and tried to accelerate through and i couldn't make my dunlops squeal. The car did feel like it had a little understeer, but it still dug in to the curve. I'd prefer it a little more balanced, maybe even mild oversteer. Do you think softening the front might do that? I remember seeing a post somewhere where EC gave exact figures (height, bar settings, etc) for best handling with their sways, but I don't remember where it was. I'll try and search for it again later. Looking forward to the UCA to set everything strait.

Edit: 400 miles today on I-80 and no rubbing, maybe it's just NY streets

Yes, to create more oversteer, either soften the front or stiffen the rear. This is a big generality but its a good rule of thumb. Perhaps this is why EC recommends soft in the front.

I went with the Matte Graphite. I was choosing between the Matte Black Machined and these and everyone who answered my survey chose the matte graphite. I'm glad I took AZs advice, because they look even better in person.

Dropped my glovebox in order to install my LEDs. The connector cable is so ridiculously short that I couldnt pull it out far enough to attach to the LED light assembly. I tried going through the AMI box area but I was thwarted again. Space is so tight I couldnt get a good enough grip on the connectors with my fat fingers. Final option was to drop the entire glovebox. What a PITA. There are so many screws! 1.5 hours to just install an LED!?? The lengths we go through for our cars!

H&R OE Sport Springs installed Wednesday and spacers come in today! Just have to get through one final and then sit at the doorstep and wait. I'll hopefully get some pictures up this afternoon when all said and done.
