with good soft compound street tires 1-2 gear spin 3rd(depending on temperature) hooks and pulls hard, 4-5 solid.. On slicks 1st gear spins but moves, 2nd gear dead hooks and sucks me back into the seat.

Well I think my transmission told me to fuck off, I drove the car yesterday all day no issues and I went to drive it last night and I had a hard time getting into 5th gear, so I immediately made my way back home. On the way home I was hearing a noise at slow acceleration, it was a tick that sounded like it got faster with wheel speed...I parked the car shut it down and tested the gears, I was completely locked out of 5th(clutch in, clutch out, engine on, engine off) and reverse has a really hard time going in. I'm thinking the 5th gear synchro may be my issue. I would say linkage but why would I get a noise while moving if it wasn't something internal in the transmission. it looks like I may be rebuilding this transmission or getting a new one.

    - Acquire new transmission
    - Pull apart and send all components to: http://www.performancecryogenics.com/
    - Acquire Rs4 or S4 bumper and S4 skirts
    - Paint and repair Volcano Black damage
    - Sell it to me
    - Use funds for VRT A4 B5 Quattro

BTW, there's many many super clean not even a spec or rust or oxidation A4 B5's in Arizona and California, $2500-$4000ish. Use U-Ship to have it delivered to your door.

Before you go off and buy a new transmission, I'd pull everything apart to verrify there isn't anything else wrong. I developed similar symptoms on a road trip. Whining on deceleration, and I was locked out of every gear except 1st, 2nd, and 5th. I went out and bought a new transmission, and it turned out that my pilot bearing exploded. A $12 part, and I was fixed. Just my $.02.

Yeah, that's the plan. I am dropping the transmission to inspect then I will go from there. I did just get the twin disk installed less than 5k ago so maybe it could be related? Tmrw I will get the car into the shop and will have some more information on what happened. I can tell you that when I went out to the car the next day I had all my gears shifting smoothly and I am getting light knock at idle which sounds like its happening with every couple rotations of the motor(but coming from the transmission/bellhousing area), and only in second gear while moving I hear the Tick/lightknock getting louder but when I shift into 3rd gear the sound is gone. I have not taken the car over 20mph so I cant say how the other gears perform.

Alright, so I drove it to the shop last night. I made it there with no issues and found out for sure the problem is only in second gear. I am pulling the trans and putting in a used one for now. The car drove perfect in every gear but second so I stayed out of second gear the whole time and never heard anything weird except the light knock at idle coming from the trans. I should have it back on the road shortly then it is time to order the IE Intake mani, some cams and Ferrea valvetrain. C'mon 600hp! I'm trying to get my buddy to TIG me up a tubular exhaust manifold so I can run the bigger turbine housing on the turbo since I am limited with the Pag Parts manifold placing the turbo so close to the frame the only housing I can run is the .64 .

Make sure that none of the oil coming out of the leaking rear main seal got onto the clutch disk.

So we drained the gear oil and sure enough there is teeth from a gear(2nd gear to be exact lol). Got the new transmission in and the new rear main seal in, just waiting on Raxle to send another axle since the drivers side has failed within 2k miles and the car should be back on the road within the next few days. I have a set of tires coming in that I have never ran before but hear great things about, Nitto INVO's 225/40/18 for the street setup. Hopefully Ill be set for this summers ass kicking of torrential downpours. Also, the car is getting dipped again once I get a new hood and grille.

at 26-28psi the car makes 460FWHP on E85. I raised the boost to 32psi for hi boost and low boost sits at 22psi(417whp).
I have not been to the track on the new setup yet but the last time I ran was a 12.2@119mph(~415whp no E85) with a shit launch(2.1 60') I recently upgraded the brakes for better stopping power on the street but that caused a little issue I cannot run my drag wheels with this brake setup bc of clearance, so I need to swap the smaller brakes on every time I want to run at the track. I will be heading to the track again after I finish building a spare AEB head with some IE race cams, a ferrea valve train and installing the new IE Intake manifold. According to IE I should be making another estimated ~180hp over what I am making now. Only worry is the transmission, I need to build the one I have now or build and rig up a 01e.

I am running a stock rear end(not sure we even have a sway bar back there) lol I see a beam by the solid axle going from one side of the car to the other side, maybe that's it on these cars?. I don't see the need for one on the FWD it already has a stiff rear end with a huge solid beam axle. I have gotten the ass end to come out quite a bit when cornering hard.

There is no separate rear sway bar for FWD, but Neuspeed makes an adjustable one (just sold mine from my FWD a couple days ago). IMO combining the Neuspeed front and rear bars makes the car handle very neutral and predictable, and in my case didn't let the rear slide out (good for me).

What was the cost of that bar if you don't mind me asking?

You and I need to upgrade our RSB's haha!

There used to be other options. One was called the "O" Bar:
    http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...-the-O-face%29
I think there was another one as well... but the Neuspeed is the only option that doesn't require modifications to the axle beam and (as far as I know) still available.

LOL! looks like I can weld up my own O-bar, should be very simple but I think the Neuspeed sway bar is the best bet for us FWD guys(I like having adjustability).

If you do get a neuspeed i gotta get one too. We can try to see if they would give us a discount since we're the only two buying haha

I'm down just let me finish up a few things on the car first, like my interior and a new hood and grille.

    thanks dude!

The dip has been on for 8 months and no issues, I have only washed it about 5 times(I know im terrible with that). The dip holds up very well. Right now we do offer a glossifier but its not OEM paint quality. We are coming out with a Premium version of plastidip that will offer a gloss better or equal to OEM clear coat. I test and see the results myself with the fonz. We cannot tell the difference between a painted surface or a PP surface. My car is a satin yellow pearl so its super smooth with a sheen but I aimed away from the gloss.
