C7 A6/S6 VAG-COM mods

Okay guys, there has been a lot of requests lately for a VAG-COM DIY. The purpose of this DIY is to walk you through the steps to do several VAG modifications.

So far we have the following:

Disable amber corner lights
Disable NAV & Phone warning messages while entering data at speed
Disable Seatbelt Chime
Enable Adaptive brake lights
Enable Automatic Gear selection shown in DIS
Enable Double Disarm Beep
Enable Hidden menu in MMI
Enable Import CDs to MMI's HD
Enable Independent Fogs control with high beams
Enable Lap Timer
Enable Remote Operation windows&sunroof
Enable TPMS
Enable VIM on MMI
Set Audi parking system - Switch OFF Speed
Adjust LED Brightness
Beep on lock
Adjust bluetooth microphone sensitivity
Enable Auxiliary ventilation
Enable Drivers Memory Seat
Increase radio play time after car is turned off
Enable coming home/leaving home function DRL
Tail lights on with front DRLs
Change the Adaptive Cruise Control Preset distance
Enable power trunk to close from key fob
Disable start/stop

Equipment Required:

Laptop with Vag-Com software
Vag-Com Cable

Many people get very intimidated and uneasy about messing around with the car settings on the computer. The most important thing to know is that everything you do in this DIY CAN BE UNDONE. There is no reason to get nervous, you will not do any damage to your car. Simply follow the instructions and you will be fine.

I am doing all of this via Ross-Tech Vag-Com with USA factory settings. If you are outside the USA the stored values might vary. Also, other conventional vag-com units can be purchased to do these modifications. The process is probably somewhat the same.

Step 1: Hooking up the Vag-Com

First step is to plug in your Vag-Com to the OBD-2 port. It is the purple connector located right behind the hood latch under the steering wheel. Once you have plugged it in, connect it to your laptop device.

Make sure you are running the most recent version of Ross-Tech's software. You will most likely be prompted if you are not.

***HAVE YOUR KEY IN THE IGNITION TURNED ON ACCESSORY MODE (hit the start button once). VCDS WILL NOT WORK IF THS IS NOT DONE***

Step 2: Let the fun begin!

Start VCDS

http://www.audizine.com/gallery/data/500/157.jpg

First thing you want to do is to make sure the VAG-COM is properly connected to your car. Click OPTIONS in the bottom right corner.

You will now be taken to the Program Options menu. Under Port and Protocol Options select TEST as shown below.

http://www.audizine.com/gallery/data/500/245.jpg

After you hit test the program will test the connection between the Vag-Com and the cars computer. After a few seconds you will get a screen shown below. Make sure the Status reads READY.

http://www.audizine.com/gallery/data/500/330.jpg

Hit SAVE and return to the make screen.

Okay so this is a compilation from other forums trying to place everything together so that when people try to do vag com mods to your car you will feel more at ease and know the ones that work.

*Suggestion: Print this and check off the mods you've activated and store it with your owner's manual - Will come handy when you need to re-do the coding after an ECU flash.

Here are some new details and mods to (hopefully) add to the first thread.

Because I've seen multiple people asking about / having trouble with remote window up and down, here the expanded details to get this to work:

Operating Windows and Sunroof with Remote
This will allow enables remote closing of the windows and sunroof by holding the Lock button on the remote control. In addition, it adds an menu item in the MMI to optionally allow opening the front windows/rear windows/sunroof by holding the Unlock button on the remote.

[46 - Cent. Conv.] -> [Coding - 07] -> [Long Coding Helper] -> Byte 2-> Bit 2
Check "Comfort Operation: Remote Control active" box.
Save

Windows and Sunroof will now close with long button press of Lock button on remote.

To Open Front Windows and/or Rear Windows and/or Sunroof with long press of Unlock button on remote:

Reboot MMI to make sure the menu item appears (press Menu, Big Knob, and Top Right Soft Button simultaneously)
Use the New MMI Menu to Change MMI Settings to allow remote down
MMI: [Menu]->[Car]->[Car Systems]->[Vehicle Settings]->[Central Locking]->[Long press to open windows] -> Set Front Windows, Rear Windows, Roof to “On”

New Mods not listed in this thread:

A7/S7/RS7 Only: Close the trunk (a.k.a. boot) remotely using the key fob and/or interior trunk switch (and retain the opening feature)
Go to Module 46 (cent convenience), coding, long coding helper
byte 2, bit 2 "Comfort operation: Remote control active" should be checked, so no need to change it, just confirm that it's set.
No Change, Original Coding: Bit 2 checked

Then got to module 6D (Trunk Electrics), security access and enter security code "12345". Then still in Module 6D, click Adaptation, channel
and there are 8 options for "Activation using rear lid. . .". Change the two "number 4" settings to active.
Original Coding:

(1)-Activation using rear lid opening button in remote key - Touch function for opening: not active
(2)-Activation using rear lid opening button in remote key - Tap function for opening: active
(3)-Activation using rear lid opening button in remote key - Touch function for closing: active
(4)-Activation using rear lid opening button in remote key - Tap function for closing: not active
(1)-Activation using rear lid remote unlocking switch - Touch function for opening: not active
(2)-Activation using rear lid remote unlocking switch - Tap function for opening: active
(3)-Activation using rear lid remote unlocking switch - Touch function for closing: active
(4)-Activation using rear lid remote unlocking switch - Tap function for closing: not active

New Coding:

(1)-Activation using rear lid opening button in remote key - Touch function for opening: not active
(2)-Activation using rear lid opening button in remote key - Tap function for opening: active
(3)-Activation using rear lid opening button in remote key - Touch function for closing: active
(4)-Activation using rear lid opening button in remote key - Tap function for closing: active
(1)-Activation using rear lid remote unlocking switch - Touch function for opening: not active
(2)-Activation using rear lid remote unlocking switch - Tap function for opening: active
(3)-Activation using rear lid remote unlocking switch - Touch function for closing: active
(4)-Activation using rear lid remote unlocking switch - Tap function for closing: active

Changing the first "number 4" allows closing of the trunk lid with a quick press of the trunk button on the remote control.
Changing the second "number 4" allows closing of the truck lid with a quick pull of the trunk switch (in the driver's side door)
The trunk is still opened as before. It will beep when remote closing.

Change the time before the heated seats auto-change from level 3 to level 2
When the heated seat is set to full (level 3) it will only stay on full power (level 3) for 10 minutes before automatically dropping to level 2. To increase (or decrease) the amount of time this takes, go to
Module 08 (HVAC) -> Adaptation -> drop in down box select the option 'time until heated seat stage withdrawal from 3-2'.
Enter a new value. Save.
The default is 10, which is 10 minutes. I set it to 15 minutes. Change it to zero to prevent it from auto-switching from level 3 to level 2.
There is also an option for auto-changing from Level 2 to Level 1. This is disabled by default (set to zero.) If you want to enable this, enter a value in minutes.

Hope this helps others!

Again, I take no credit for this information, most of the above is available on these forums and specialty websites as well as Ross-Tech's support pages. I only wanted to group all the info of the pertinant VCDS mods to our s6/s7.

Any extra ones I will gladly add

Huge thanks to TunTap below is information he compiled
how to lower you car 17mm
I finally accomplished lowering the S6 with VCDS. Some said it can't be done, but it most definitely worked for me. It should be entirely reversible in case you decide to revert the settings. All research was done through Google and playing around with software settings, none of this information was provided by Audi or Audi dealers. This method is an alternative to Lowering Links (which are great if you don't have the electronic tools/would rather go the mechanical route), or H&R lowering module (which is also great, and allows for on-the fly adjustments vs. having to mess with car systems).

I figured that since all the tools and information required to do this have already been made public on the internet, it is just matter of time until someone posts a step-by-step guide, so here it is.

DISCLAIMER: I am not responsible for anything that these changes may cause, or if your car breaks, or if dealership finds out and denies your warranty if something goes wrong... Try this at your own risk.

0) Set your car to "Auto" mode (not dynamic, comfort, etc.). Make sure car is on level ground. Close doors. If any doors are opened during the procedure, it will be interrupted. Make sure your car is NOT in a towing or tire changing mode.
1) Load up VCDS, go to Module 34 - Level Control
2) Go to "10 - Adaptation", take note of 4 values titled as "Body height front left wheel house edge" - mine were set to around 384 from factory.
3) Take the values you noted above, and ADD your desired drop in millimeters (mm) to each value, write it down... So if your left front wheel was 384.5, your new value will be 401.5. Repeat for the other wheels. It is not critical to be 100% precise here, rounding the values is fine. Note that maximum Audi-approved drop is 17mm from what I've gathered. You can go lower, but if you go lower, you're also affecting other systems, such as cameras, adaptive cruise, etc., so be careful.

Technically, if you want this procedure to be done properly, instead of taking existing values, you will measure all 4 wheels after completion of the step 7, and then add your drop value if desired. Suspension height values are measured from the center of the wheel to the edge of the fender.

4) Go to Security Access, enter code provided on the following website, under VCDS section, item #3 (I'm not posting this directly to avoid spreading sensitive data, although it's been posted on other forums in past) http://www.stemei.de/pages/coding/audi-a6-4g/elektronische-tieferlegung-des-aas.php
5) You should get a message stating that security code has been accepted - if you don't, something failed, stop doing what you're doing
6) Go to 04 - Basic Settings

*** IMPORTANT: Whatever you do, DO NOT select "Reset All Adaptations" - this is not undoable, and will require a visit to the dealer. ***

7) Select "Activate Level Control", hit "Go", wait for it to complete (should only take a second, until it says "not running").
8) Select "Delete Calibration For Level Control", hit "Go", wait for it to complete, your car will throw a fault code and you will see an error message stating Air Suspension Malfunction - this is normal.
7) Select "Start Up to Reference Level", hit "Go". This step will take about a minute, and your car will go up/down during the process (you'll hear hissing noises). Wait for it to complete, until it says "not running".
9) Select "Go Back", go to "10 - Adaptation" on the previous screen.
10) Next you will need to enter new adaptation values for all 4 wheels. Select "Body height front left wheel house edge", then enter new adaptation value, and hit "Do it", then repeat for the other 3 wheels. I did it in the order the menu was arranged (FL, RL, FR, RR) - not sure if the order matters, but just in case. Each time you enter a value, you should get a message stating that it has been accepted.
11) After you're done entering adaptation for all 4 wheels, select "Go Back", and return to "04 - Basic Settings" again.
12) In basic settings, select "Calibrate Level Control" and hit go, it will take a few seconds. Wait for it to say "not running". If you get an error during this step, you either missed a step, or something went horribly wrong.
13) Select "Activate Level Control", hit "Go"
14) You're done, now go to "02 - Fault Codes" and Reset codes.

If this did or didn't work - please share your experience with the rest of us here

Awesome topic Sciblades !

Just to add, this wasn't activated in my S6.

BEEP ON LOCK
Chirp the alarm siren briefly when the alarm activates (ie all doors are closed and the car is locked)
[Select]
[46-Central Conv.]
[Coding - 07]
[Long Coding Helper]
Click on byte 1 and in bit 2 you'll see the selectable option: "Anti-Theft-System: Horn Confirmation active"
Check this option
[Do It!]

Once activated, the MMI will have an option to on/off this feature.

Also, with the LAP TIMER activated, you will also get;

1. Oil Temp and Current Gear displayed on the HUD

2. While driving, put the gear stick to manual mode, a "shift light bar" will appear on the DIS telling you when to optimally shift to the next gear (4,500 rpm onwards)

This list is perfect for what we'd like to do, but my connection to the car keeps timing out when I select a module. Our cable test is successful as your directions instructed though? Are we missing an obvious step or can we not connect to a newer car through the eBay cable? I do have a licensed software but dumb cable.

Oh, and we don't have an ignition as mentioned in the instructions, it is a push button car. We have been turning the car on through the push button but not starting it.

The protocols for our cars need to have a genuine cable in order to work.

Typically I think of my start button as an ignition, but maybe that is just old fashioned of me, I Will edit.

So I tried to do the gear display in dis/hud. When I enter the code for it it gives me a popup saying the module has not been activated and has 3 options. Neither seemed safe. Anyone else get this popup?

I have a 2013 a6 prestige.

Also, I only see the word "boost" in the dis with lap timer. But no bars and nothing on the hud. Thoughts?

$349 is not cheap but considering we have the kind of money to afford 70k+ car, we should be able to afford 300 something bucks cable too.

So I am trying to do this one for my C6 A6, but can't figure out how to change it?

Enable LEDs remain bright for parking lights

(From the B8)
This will stop the LED's from dimming when the parking lights are turned on.
[09 – Cent. Elect.]
[Coding - 07] -> [Long Coding Helper] -> Byte 3: Bit 2 - Change 0 to 1

Also....

This one I tried to do didn't work..this security code didn't work and I put in a code the vag said to use for adaptation? Then changed a number from 24 to 75 and the LEDs didn't change with the headlights on or park light?

Thanks
Press the "car" and "menu" button at the same time. You must first enable the hidden menu with VCDS

ALCON, in my B8 S4 you could set the LEDs to not turn off/dim while the turn signal is activated. Is that not possible in the C7? I thought that's what the below coding would do, but we did it today on my car and noticed no difference. When the turn signal is on, the LED strip still goes out:

Do you have Xenon (HID) or LED Headlights?
For the S4 the coding is 09-Centr. El.

Can you try this coding to C7?

The LED strip on the A6 changes from white to yellow when the turn signal is activated (if you have the full LED headlights

If you do not have the full LED headlights, then you must disable "winking" in the control module.

Not necessarily started but it should be powered up in the accessory position. Obviously the VAG wouldnt be operating if it wasnt powered up correctly. All codes are stored in the ECU whether or not the car is actually started or not.

Is it the same as holding 3 buttons mentioned in the first post in this thread? If it was, is there a special way of pressing them together? I tried a couple of times, but VIM is still not working. So my mom just bought a Premium Plus A6 TDI (and loves it)(I have a 2011 A4 Avant). She has the seat memory but was unaware her Audi would not do something her 2006 Infinity does. When she opens the door the exit the car her infinity the seat slides all the way back, helping her get out of the car and not hit her legs on the steering wheel. With her double knee replacement this is a very nice feature for her. We have learned Audi would only do this if she had the Prestige level, which adds a power tilt steering wheel to the memory seats. The Stealer has old her the only way to get this is to have the Prestige with the wheel. Had she know this she would have just bought the Prestige car to begin with.

Long story longer…can I enable the seat moving back feature in her current car with VAGCOM? I ask because I am sure the dealer will not take her car back and let her order the Prestige car with this feature, even though she has had the car for a week, and driven it only 30 miles.

Thanks for the help!

Prestige does not have this. The 'easy entry' feature on the prestige only moves the steering wheel up and out. On the A8 it will move the seat all the way back as well move the steering wheel up. I've looked in VCDS for this and it says the module is not installed when I try to adjust it.

As a workaround, I would do what the other poster suggested of programming another memory button to move the seat all the way back.

I just picked up our prestige TDI last week as well, a bit of fooling with the system and I saw that the steering retractor is there, but also would like to see the seat go back too. I have to agree that the simple workaround is posted above, and is typically what my wife and I have done anyway (she is 5' - Im 6'2" so preset #1 is hers, #2 is mine. Our previous Infiniti did this as noted, but I hate the new styling, hence the A6 now.

I haven't done too much with VCDS yet (well a couple things), but will look on my car. Ive got the log file if someone knows what they are looking for (and mine does NOT have the flux capacitor.... that was hilarious!)

Thats the way its supposed to work. However, with the VAG, you can keep the LED lit just as bright if you want so they dont dim when the lights come on. During the day they are at 100% and when the lights come on they dim down to 20%(I believe). I changed mine so they go back up to 80% brightness with the lights on.

So last night we did the VAG list above and have a little issue we can't figure out. This is for the C7 A6 with the Xenon headlights (not full LEDS). When we have the lights off the LED DRL strip works fine. But as soon as we turn the headlights on the DRL strip goes off and just the Xenon headlight comes on. There's a bulb out error that pops up saying that the DRL's are out...but they still work when you turn the headlight switch back off to run DRLs. We tried putting the codes back to normal (stock) but same issue. Help!

Okay we got this figured out. If OP wants to put this in the first post for future C7 A6 owners with the Xenon headlights (not full LED), that would be nice.

Adjust brightness for Xenon LED strip (headlights off)
[09 – Cent. Elect.] [Security Access - 16] (enter security code. One of the default codes is- 20113)
[Adaptation - 10] -> Channel 1
Set value to 100 for full brightness

Adjust brightness for Xenon LED strip (headlights/parking lights on)
[09 – Cent. Elect.] [Security Access - 16] (enter security code. One of the default codes is- 20113)
[Adaptation - 10] -> Channel 3
Set value to 100 for full brightness

I had to click the values up to 100. If I just typed in 100 test and save it still wouldn't be as bright. It was really weird. But we got everything worked out.

One of the default codes is- 20113)
[Adaptation - 10] -> Channel 1
Set value to 100 for full brightness

Adjust brightness for Xenon LED strip (headlights/parking lights on)
[09 – Cent. Elect.] [Security Access - 16] (enter security code. One of the default codes is- 20113)
[Adaptation - 10] -> Channel 3
Set value to 100 for full brightness

I had to click the values up to 100. If I just typed in 100 test and save it still wouldn't be as bright. It was really weird. But we got everything worked out.

Will edit in am thank you

I made a rookie mistake today and disabled my Amber corner lights without writing down my factory numbers. Now it says my turn signals bulbs (the amber corner lights) need to be replaced. When using my turn signal I have the noise like a bulb is out. Does anyone know how I can find the factory settings code to re-enable the amber corner lights? This is the code I used to turn them off.

Any way to have the emergency brake not come on when I crack the door open to check if I'm between the parking space lines? (engine running, but in park with my foot on the brake - jeebus that's annoying)

When you set your cruise control, one of them will light up to show what it's set to (or two, if it's not an increment of 5 mph/kph).

A couple questions for you guys...

1) Does lap timer/ boost gauge only work on HUD equipped cars? I was able to access the coding in VAG-COM and check the box for "Lap Timer active" but can not see/ access lap timer/ boost gauge.

Also, with the LAP TIMER activated, you will also get;

1. Oil Temp and Current Gear displayed on the HUD

2. While driving, put the gear stick to manual mode, a "shift light bar" will appear on the DIS telling you when to optimally shift to the next gear (4,500 rpm onwards)

I did this on my 2013 A6 3.0T and the lap timer didn't activate, how to do you turn in on in the display?

Its the menu button on your steering wheel, the left thumb. Hit it so it shows your menu items in the screen between the speedo & tach, then scroll down to lap timer. If you have HUD it will also add your gear, oil pressure, and if in manual the "optimum" shift point. There was another thread on this board describing how to use it - its pretty simple though. I'm doing this on a 2014 A6/C7 Prestige. The codes found on Audienthusiasts.com are very helpful but it seems those were intended for a B8 so things aren't exactly the same in the C7. Maybe I'm over thinking things, but I have some questions about the following:

Adjust LED Brightness
This will allow you to change the intensity of the LED's when your headlights are on. By default the LED's are only 8-9% or brightness.
[09 – Cent. Elect.]
[Security Access - 16] (enter security code. One of the default codes is- 20113)
[Adaptation - 10] -> Channel 3
Enter new value for LED brightness i.e. "100" If you want LED's at 100%.
Values bellow 5 turns the LED's off and generates an error code and warning in DIS.

Does this turn up the brightness of the LED HEADLIGHTS or only the DRL strip? When I go into [Adaptation - 10] -> Channel 3 this is the screen I get. Is this the right place to be adjusting the headlight brightness?

http://i1175.photobucket.com/albums/r629/dwtufts/AdjustLEDBrightness-Channel3_zpsb1dc8b02.jpg (http://s1175.photobucket.com/user/dwtufts/media/AdjustLEDBrightness-Channel3_zpsb1dc8b02.jpg.html)

Related to the above, I'd like to have the DRL's at full strength when the parking lights are on. It seems this is the proper coding:

Keep LED's at Full Brightness with Parking Lights
This will stop the LED's from dimming when the parking lights are turned on.
[09 – Cent. Elect.]
[Coding - 07] -> [Long Coding Helper] -> Byte 3: Bit 2 - Change 0 to 1

But when I go into "Byte 3: Bit 2" I see the following checkbox that says "daytime running lights with parking lights inactive". To me, that's not a very good description but I suppose its the right one. Can anyone confirm. Also, why does it say that "Daytime Running Lights Adjustable via MMI/Car Menu" is activated, when I can't find that anywhere in the MMI?

http://i1175.photobucket.com/albums/r629/dwtufts/DRLwithParkingLights_zps3fb2017a.jpg (http://s1175.photobucket.com/user/dwtufts/media/DRLwithParkingLights_zps3fb2017a.jpg.html)

Thanks in advance for your thoughts about this.

Hi,

with your first coding you only adjust the brightness of drl, not from the headlight (imo not adjustable). If you turn it from default 26 to 100 you will get full brightness of drl for:
- headlights are on
- coming home/leaving home
- parking lights (both or single)

No effect for turn signal.

Have you also turned up the DRLs? According to the audienthusiasts guide this is done by checking the box in the 2nd screen shot in my post, but again the text descriptions don't correlate. Any thoughts?

Okay, I made this change in the underground parking garage where I work. Why wait until after work?! Specifically, I turned it up to 95. The LED DRLs most definitely got brighter but there was no change in the brightness of the LED Headlights, as far as I could tell. Now, from the driver's seat the road in front of the car was noticeably more illuminated because the DRLs throw off a lot of light. But I do not think that this adjusts the brightness of the headlights themselves. IMO it looks pretty cool with these cranked up. I want to see what it's like at night on the road instead of in my parking garage.

Also, I was able to walk around the front of the car from 30 or so feet away. The DRLs are at their brightest when you are standing directly in front of the car at a decent distance with your line of sight at level with the lights . They are not quite as bright when viewed at an angle from the side.

Thanks for the feedback. I don't doubt you. I'm just reporting my observations. The test box was gray-ed out for me, but I was able to accept it and try it at several brightness levels (50, 75 and 95) before I settled on 95. I just got home. Had to stay late to finish a couple of things I missed from spending the afternoon in the parking garage with my VAG com cable and laptop. He he. Anyway, I'm second guessing my prior assessment about what is changing. The drive in the dark was noticeably better illuminated having that thing set at 95. Way better. It's hard to believe that's coming only from the DRLs. Doesn't matter. Either way this is a big improvement. I highly recommend it.

I also enabled the remote control windows up/down and that's freaking awesome too. I don't think I really need it, it's just super cool. Like the needle sweep. Thanks for your help in getting this set up.

Sorry, my bad, I just went and double checked. Below is corrected sequence to delete the after-wipe on the S7. Original post corrected as well. Only the drop down selection is incorrect - it is the 0 default drop down menu.

It is the first default drop down menu after [09 - Cent. Elect.] [Coding - 07] Long Coding Helper
Byte 1, Bit 3
-> [Dropdown] 0 -- 4HD907063C6 -- BCM12.0 H120130
-> Uncheck the "Tear Drop Wiping for Front Wiper Inactive" box.

Reconfirmed - no after-wipe

not really sure what it means, any fault that has only happened once is not really an issue. considering it happened when your car had only 696km on it I don't think it was anything serious probably just a new car bug if you clear it and it doesn't come back then you are fine, Vagcom always finds random faults in the car it is normal.

Enable Hidden menu in MMI

I spent some time with my VAG and the Cent Elect controller. I discovered it was my amber parking lights not the corner lights that were flickering. I checked the coding of channel 3 and it was set to 95%. I also looked at the other channels in the controller and found that #5 controls the brightness of the amber parking light that was flickering. The default setting is 35 by decreasing it I was able to stop the flickering. Initially I tried increasing it and got bulb out MIL. Maybe it is a conflict btwn the channels created by incr LED strip to near max?

Here's the code ... I haven't tried it coz I like that feature.

Disabling engine stop when opening driver's door.
Recode the Central Convenience module to STOP the engine from turning off when you get out, having moved the car.
[Select]
[46 - Central Conv.]
[Coding - 07]
[Long Coding Helper]
Click on the red byte (below) and in the binary code you will see: 00000111
Change it to: 00001111
ie. with 1111 at the end not 111

Tab into the next bit box and you will see the code change to 0F (013F062220B90000832009042001040700000000000000000 00000000000 to 013B062220B90000832009042001040F000000000000000000 0000000000)

I just had my car serviced at the dealership and they updated the software/firmware for the instrument cluster module. Even though I don't believe the remote window up/down doesn't have anything to instrument cluster module, ever since they updated the module, I cannot get the remote windows feature to work. I triple checked that the coding is set correctly in VCDS and the central locking is set to ON for all three options (front windows, rear windows, sunroof), but it just doesn't work anymore. For grins, I rebooted MMI, but that didn't work either.

Very frustrating because this used to work just fine.

Oil temp, you can get dsg temps through vag com, it depends if you changed your dsg settings for instance I changed my d so it is always telling me what gear I am in whether I am in d,s, or m . Adaptive brakelights are when you hit them really hard your flashers go on automatically to warn drivers behind you that you will be making an abrupt stop.

I have installed the wheel and plug in the connector at the base of wheel. When push the heat button on the wheel, there is no indicator light on the dash nor heat genereated. Thanks in advance.

AFAIK, nothing can be done to code this. We had a customer who wanted the heated steering wheel retrofitted in his S6 and it couldnt be done.

Ive got a heated wheel on my A6 and when its engaged (turned on) there are no indications other than a warm steering wheel... AND if you use the "power program" or something to that effect in the information panel, then it will show up. The wheel was part of the "cold weather package" which adds heated REAR seats, so it might be something in there as well, although I see nothing in the logs for VCDS regarding heated seats or heated steering for that matter.

Are you saying you have done this mod? Or you have the cold weather package and just dont see anything on the dash when you turn the heated stearing wheel on?

No mod has been done to the car in regards to the steering wheel. I have the VCDS scans from the first time I connected it to the vehicle and another from a couple months ago. I looked at these and there isnt any entry for "heated steering wheel" of anything close. What IS there however is the following entry for the steering wheel... Im not sure if the subsystem is what your looking for, but its worth a shot. When this is turned on it will report in the energy program, although I havent seen any other indication on the dash/displays for this. Good luck in getting it working - its nice and toasty when its turned on during a cold day.

Right, ok. No, this still isnt possible to recode. Again, we had a customer who wanted to retrofit the steering wheel to his S6 that didnt come with cold weather and there was nothing possible to code the car after the fact. It has to come with a certain module from the factory.

Let me first thank you for looking into your VCD code. Here is mine :
Address 16: Steering wheel
Control Module Part Number: 4G0 953 568 A
Component and/or Version: Lenks.Modul H05 0201
Software Coding: 000034
byte 2: 00110100
=====> bit 2
bit 3
bit 5 (paddle shift)
are checked

Do you have 3-spoke paddle shift steering wheel, too? I don't have cold weather package, so the heat button on the original steering wheel was a programmable key. This new wheel has a heated wheel logo on the same button location. I could not feel any heat in this Atlanta weather after pushing it and make me wonder weather it is functioning or not.

No problem sharing the coding. As HyperM3 pointed out, there is some module thats probably part of the cold weather package that ties into the wheel. Yes, mine is a 3 spoke wheel (the car is an A6 prestige TDI with the 19" sport package and cold weather package.... and several others - its pretty loaded). The sport package was the 3 spoke wheel, the cold weather had the heated steering wheel - how the two tied together is beyond me, Im lucky if I drive it once a week (bought it for my wife and she WILL NOT part with her car).Im sure somebody knows whats missing somewhere - maybe getting the missing module from salvage?... I dont know the feasibility as the cold weather also changed the front controls to digital instead of analogue... there really is quite a bit going on as far as systems in these vehicles, more than Im aware of.

Since your coding is 0004FC, the last byte 'FC' has bit 0, 1, 2, 3,4,5 set to 1. Mine has bit 2,3,5 set to 1. I may need to try bit 0, 1, or 4 to see whether I can turn the heated wheel on and feel it. Thanks again.

With the Audi Drive Selection, is it possible to add the Effeciency mode or is this only a European option.
I tried but nothing changed and didn't continue to mess with the coding.

Unless you have TDI don't bother. I did it with my A6 and it would try to stay in 8th gear as long as possible, even while going up hills... it was unpleasant.

Disagree here. The efficiency mode is still busy on the shifting, but I have noticed it will not generate full boost as often. It is far more conservative in that area.

There's a difference between Efficiency Mode and Efficiency Program in the DIS. Just press the menu button on your steering wheel and scroll to get into the program.

As far as the Mode I just didn't like it and it made almost no difference in consumption. I had .23 MPG better when I tested it. Meh.

I have adaptive cruise control on my 2013 A7, however there is no related menu option under CAR -> CAR SYSTEMS -> DRIVER ASSIST -> ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL. Even my 2012 A7 had this menu option. Is this normal??? I want to change the adaptive cruise control preset distance per the following taken from a UK forum. However, I don't even have a "channel 7" there. Does anyone else?

Change the Adaptive Cruise Control Preset distance
Go to module 13 (distance regulation), then adaptation, Channel 7 and change from 0 to 1. Reboot your MMI and you will then have an option in your MMI under Car, driver assistance and Adaptive Cruise Control to set which of the 4 distances your car will default to when you activate your ACC.

Does anyone know how to get the ACC menu option under driver assist to appear now that I have the vag com? Is it not there by default b/c perhaps my MMI software version is old? Interestingly, my car's manual came with a one page supplement explaining that the instructions in the book are incorrect regarding the location of the setting that controls how aggressive the ACC will be (comfort/dynamic/auto). The correction explains that it should be in the driver assist menu (but its not, and is no where else). Thanks in advance!

Engage E brake when shifting into Park-- does this work for others? I programmed it correctly on my 2013 A7 but it doesn't work (first and only feature to not work for me).

Automatic engagement of the parking Brake
Go to module 53 (Parking Brake) and then click on 16 - Security Access. Enter the code which your car gives you 78713 worked for me and A6 Chris. Then go to 10- Adaptation and click the drop down box at the top of the adaptation menu. Find "shift to P EPB" and set it to activated. When you now put your car in 'P', the electronic parking brake will engage automatically.

With all due respect, I highly recommend you have someone show you how it all works before you attempt it on your own. You could very easily mess up something by switching the wrong 0/1 on a byte.

But to your question, yes, it needs to be in accessory position.

Need help with Enable Double Disarm Beep - my setting is 168 it says to add 4- does that mean to change it to 172? I do it and it does not work?

168 (decimal) = b10101000 (binary) = 0xA8
172 (decimal) = b10101100 (binary) = 0xAC

So yes, that should work if the description is correct. For anything that says to add a number, you should be careful that number hasn't already been added in because if you were to add 4 twice, for instance, it would actually flip 3 bits in this case instead of the expected 1 bit.

My question is whether the boost display (non HUD) is possible to display as a numeric output rather than the bar graph.

The bar graph seems less functionL than having an actual value particularly when running different tunes that may be adjusting the scale

Really? You made it that far with the coding and this stumped you?? When you click one of the radio boxes so it's checked, it then translates to a "1" in the sequence. An unchecked box is a "0" in the sequence. In this picture, you want to check the box next to bit 2 so that it is read as a "1". Then once you have done this you need to go into the MMI under the central locking setting and turn "on" the front/rear windows and sunroof.

I did a fair amount of looking and Im calling "urban legend" on a buddy's comments last week that the side assist (the lights on the mirrors that indicate someone in your blind spot) can be enabled in the heads-up on the C7. We both have C7 A6's with driver assist and HUD packages... he claims it can be done - I say there isnt (yet) a discovered VAG-COM mod to enable in indicator in the HUD for this.

This friendly wager we have is for a pint... I dont want to loose this one :)

Anyone hear differently? If there IS a mod Id sure like to enable it too. Thx
