Hi,
Any luck enabling these red segments on speedo? I've got 2015MY EUR-spec A7 and successfully turned on the needle sweep, but no red perimeter light (with cruise enabled, too).
A friend enabled the needle sweep for me yesterday, no LEDs on my speedo either. Maybe it is a A7 thing, or possible an option package I don't have???
Oh yeah, why is this thread not a sticky? It is on other model forms, would be great for quick reference!

Seems like it is a special feature of the cruise control - some cars indicate the set speed with red segments and some don't.
Would much appreciate if anyone who's car indicates these red segments shares module 17 long coding with me so I will do some research here.

Hey sciblades - would be great if you could update your fantastic list of tweaks with the following, given they work:
Enable coming home/leaving home function DRL
[Select]
[09 Central electric]
[Coding - 07]
[Long coding helper]
Click on byte 6 and disable bit 4
Leaves the low beams off when unlocking the car and just have the DRLs on when its dark outside, similar to some other Audis. Much cleaner look.
----------
Tail lights on with front DRLs
[Select]
[09-Central Electric]
[Coding - 07]
[Long Coding Helper]
Click on byte 2 and enable bit 7
Turns on rear tail lights DRLs during the day, for a more aggressive look.
---------
Change the Adaptive Cruise Control Preset distance
[Select]
[13 Distance Regulation]
[Adaptation - 10] --> channel 7
Change from 0 to 1
Reboot MMI
Will now have an option in your MMI under Car --> Driver assistance --> Adaptive Cruise Control to set which of the 4 preset distances your car will default to when you activate your ACC.
---------
Disable rear side markers in US vehicles
[Select]
[46-Central Convenience]
[Security Access] enter 16017
[Adaptation - 10] --> channel 209 for left rear side marker
Document your existing number should you need to re-enable rear side markers later
Change existing number to 0
Channel 210 for right rear side marker
Document your existing number should you need to re-enable rear side markers later
Change existing number to 32

Also one other tweak worth adding, for those who are frustrated with the parking brake being enabled every time you turn on the car, and then having to disable it before pulling away. AoA removed the TSB that allows dealers to turn off this default setting on the C7s, but you can do it yourself.
Turn off parking brake when in park mode
[Select]
[53-Parking Brake]
[Adaptation - 10]
Click the drop down channel menu
Select the "Automatic parking brake for selector lever position P"
Change to Not Activated

+1. Some of us like the cleaner look found in the European versions of our cars. Hence why there's instructions on AA and AW to turn off the ugly side markers on various Audi models. Taking it one step further, you can even replace them with body colored: http://www.tagmotorsports.com/audi-a7-s7-rs7-painted-side-reflector-package

does anyone know how to activate modules that are not "installed"? for instance, rear spoiler is a box, but when i click on it, its not installed and says communication failed. in addition to wanting to see rear spoiler settings, I'm trying to activate the Auto-Brake_Hold feature for the button from a euro-spec car i just bought. i can't find that setting so i figure its in one of the modules i can't open.

I downloaded VCDS Version 15.7.0 today and was able to make some changes, but not others to my 2016 RS7 as follows:
1) Disable amber corner lights
[09 – Cent. Elect.] [Coding - 07] -> Long Coding Helper -> Byte 10
Submodule 0
Bit 3 - Set to 0 to disable amber side markers (U.S. vehicles)
This worked but there is no supporting text in the Long Coding Helper. Bit 3 was checked and I simply unchecked it
2) Disable NAV & Phone warning messages while entering data at speed
[5F - Information Electr.] -> Adaptation -> Set channel 2 & 3 to 250
I was not able to do this. The choices in the Adaptation settings are way different than I have previously seen
3) Enable Adaptive brake lights
[46 - Comfort System] [Coding - 07] -> Long Coding Helper -> Byte 8
Bit 0 – Emergency Brake Flashing via Turn Lights active (1 = active)
Bit 1 – Emergency Brake Flashing via Brake Lights active (1 = active)
The coding was accepted but I won't know if this worked until I have someone follow me (not too closely!) and then be in front of me
4) Enable Automatic Gear selection shown in DIS
[02 – Auto Trans] [Adaptation – 10]
Select “Single Gear Display” from top channel drop down menu
Select “D on/S on” from New value drop down menu
The coding was accepted but I didn't drive the car today so won't know if it worked for a couple of days
5) Set Audi parking system - Switch OFF Speed
[10 - Park/Steer Assist] [Adaptation - 10] -> Channel 23
Set to 20 (max value in km/h)
I was not able to do this. Park/Steer Assist is no longer an available module
6) Tail lights on with front DRLs
[Select]
[09-Cent. Elect.]
[Coding - 07]
[Long Coding Helper]
Click on byte 2 and enable bit 7
This worked for me but again there was no supporting text in the Long Coding Helper. I clicked bit 7 in byte 2. This also turned on the rear marker lights so I had to disable them as shown below.
7) Disable rear side markers in US vehicles
[Select]
[46-Central Convenience]
[Security Access] enter 16017
[Adaptation - 10] --> channel 209 for left rear side marker
Document your existing number should you need to re-enable rear side markers later
Change existing number to 0
Channel 210 for right rear side marker
Document your existing number should you need to re-enable rear side markers later
Change existing number to 32
VCDS also showed me a security code of 22790 but I used 16017. My original codes for the left was 51201 and 51233 for the right
8) Enable coming home/leaving home function DRL
[Select]
[09 Central electric]
[Coding - 07]
[Long coding helper]
Click on byte 6 and disable bit 4
Leaves the low beams off when unlocking the car and just have the DRLs on when its dark outside, similar to some other Audis. Much cleaner look.
This worked for me, but again no supporting text in the Long Coding Helper
9) Change the Adaptive Cruise Control Preset distance
[Select]
[13 Distance Regulation]
[Adaptation - 10] --> channel 7
Change from 0 to 1
Reboot MMI
Will now have an option in your MMI under Car --> Driver assistance --> Adaptive Cruise Control to set which of the 4 preset distances your car will default to when you activate your ACC.
I now have the option in MMI and made a change.
10) Turn off parking brake when in park mode
[Select]
[53-Parking Brake]
[Adaptation - 10]
Click the drop down channel menu
Select the "Automatic parking brake for selector lever position P"
Change to Not Activated
This was already set to "Not Activated" in my car.
11) Enable window closing with remote (opening is already an option in MMI)
46 - Cent. Conv.
Adaptation - 10
Channel 62
Change value from 8738 to 48059
Test
Save
I did what CanuckRS did and added 1 to the existing value of 8738 and the close feature for the windows was now functional (but not the sunroof). VCDS showed adding 16 to the number would allow the closing of the sunroof with the remote and it did.
I hope this helps you folks.
I will appreciate any input as to how to make the 2 changes I was unable to do - Set Audi Parking System switch off speed and turn off the NAV warning message.
Thanks.

The VCDS mods for 5F channels posted are completely different in my 2016 RS7.
Therefore, I can't enable hidden menu, VIM, and disable NAV/Phone warning while entering data at speed

I did - succcessfully enabled the hidden menu. Lost all previously stored radio channels every time I changed adaptation values, though. Weird.

When I pull down to 5F channels 5 or 6, it doesn't state "enable hidden menu". It states something that has nothing to do with hidden menu, I believe something to do with the radio volume but I have to look again when I plug my car into my computer.
I'm using the current 15.7 software version of VCDS.

As you can see, there's a channel drop down box , where it does not state particular channel numbers.
I did manage to find "Import Cd's to MMI's HD", but it looks like it is already activated in my car.
Still unable to find "Enable Hidden Menu", "Disable enter data/Phone Warning message while enter date at speed", and of course "VIM"

One stupid question about VAG-COM. Is it possible to save the original coding of entire car, before making hacks, and then if you want some day, when you have all sort of hacks enabled, just load back factory settings, that you backed up with vag com?

Closing the trunk with the key fob - a7 s7 rs7
I did not see this mod on the main page. I took it from another site.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=93ZqPdKH_WQ
Worked well for me. Here are the guys instructions:
Go to Module 46 (cent convenience), coding, long coding helper and ensure byte two, bit two is ticked it says "Comfort operation: Remote control active". Then got to module 6D (Trunk Electrics), security access and enter security code "12345". Then still in Module 6D, click adaptation, channel and there are 4 options in there (among others) called "Activation using rear lid opening button in remote key - Touch function for closing". Select all four of those options, one at a time, and change the value to ACTIVE and press do it. Thats it. You still open your boot as normal - press and hold the middle button on the fob, but to close it, you can now just click the button on the remote (not a press and hold) and the boot will close and beep to warn you.

tried it today but only made it worse for me! lol
i already had remote closing, it sounded like this was even easier than before but doing this has now forced me to hold the button for closing the whole time, otherwise it stops.
gotta do some tweaking this weekend to see which options should be active/inactive.

Absolutely and HIGHLY recommended. DO a COMPLETE SCAN of the entire vehicle, and then save the log file. Put that file in several places as you can always reefer back to it later. I have an ORIGINAL printed and kept in the glove-box, I mark on that what changes were made to coding and then also compare a before / after whenever the car goes into service (run a scan before, another after, then compare the text files)
Its also a fantastic way to "CYA" if you mess something up while coding.

Has anyone found a way to make the auto high beam default to on, or even better, to remember the last setting. I have to do some stop starting out on unlit country roads and every time I stop the car the auto high beam gets cancelled. Really annoying. Hi,
I just purchased a new MY16 A6 BiTurbo in Australia with the MIB2 system. I have managed to get the Lap timer, boost gauge, gauge test\sweep and electric boot to close with one click enabled. To get VIM I purchased a Kufatech dongle that enables this feature but I need Green Menu access to see if I can enable the online Audi Connect options. In Australia the Audi Connect icon is removed from the MMI menu and under Online Destinations we don't have the "Online Destinations from myaudi" listed. I have the Audi MMI app but as I can't enter a PIN via the vehicle I can't pair the service. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,

The car's water temperature has to be at 90 degrees for some time before the oil temp displays. Turbo boost is shown as a curved grey band beside the tachometer only when you load the engine and the turbo's spool up.

Hi, I got the dongle as my friend with VCDS said he couldn't work out how to enable VIM on the new system in my car. He did it for me in my MY14 A6 but I didn't want to wait so I just got the dongle (if someone has info regarding VIM on a MY16 it would be appreciated). The new MIB-2 has limited access and I'm still trying to find out how to enable the Green menu on my new car. I was told they have found a way to get a basic green menu but it is very limited.

I don't believe there is a way to enable VIM yet with VCDS on a 16.

No, they don't really bother me any more. I use my phone for pretty much everything and leave the MMI in "Media" so I can see what I'm listening to on Spotify.

A while back I swapped my 4-spoke heated steering wheel for a 3-spoke non-heated one. My asterisk (*) button turns voice guidance on or off, but I can't find a way to change it to a different function like I've heard people describe (on cars that are delivered with the non-heated wheel). Anybody know to enable this setting with vag-com?
Could someone please clarify for me... If your car was delivered with the steering wheel asterisk (*) button from the factory, do you have a setting in the MMI to change that button's function? If so, what is it called, or could you post a pic of that screen?

Thanks! Even though your interface is different (2016?), this helps because now I'm going to search in VCDS for "steering wheel button" to see if I can find out how to enable this on mine. (I originally had the heated wheel, so my current wheel was retrofitted. )

The Kufatech Dongle worked on my MY16 and I assume the the dongle just sends coding to the car like VCDS does??
For reference the VIM dongle I purchased was the Discover Pro, Columbus version. I posted the Kufatech Germany link below but for members in Australia I just purchased the dongle from Autofidelity.

Thanks for the info Gary, I wonder if someone could identify the coding difference from before and after the dongle was installed to crack the code through VAG for enabling VIM without the dongle. I might take a crack at it. If anyone has both already (VAG + dongle) maybe they could.

Can someone give me an explanation of the following:
What exactly does "Enable Adaptive brake Lights" do?
What does "Enable Independent Fogs control with high beams" do?
Finally, what does "Enable Auxiliary ventilation" do?
I have a 2016 RS7 and can the dealer perform these mods ?
Thanks

Adaptive brakes : your brake lights will flash when you brake hard and activate ABS to warn those behind you.
Independent fogs : in the US, using fog lights with high beams is disabled. This allows you to use both at the same time.
Aux ventilation: allows the climate control to run at set times or after your leave the car.
You need to establish how mod friendly your dealer is to figure out if they will do these.

it works! :-) even easier way, once you're in long coding helper for the module, in the middle of byte boxes there is one saying 0F... change it to 00 and that's all :-)
My first purchase for my (new to me) 2013 S7 was the Ross-Tech VCDS. It arrived yesterday, and I spent a bit of my evening in the garage with my car and computer. Thanks to all involved in this thread for making using the product so easy.
I quoted the comment from SiberianWolf above because I also helped out a neighbor with a 2013 A7. The day I placed the order, he complained about his car's shutting off when the driver's door is opened. Lo and behold, I told him I could help him. I did it this morning, and my neighbor could not be happier. SiberianWolf is exactly right, changing the value of the middle byte that is 0F to 00 does the trick.
One additional observation that I did not pick up from reading the thread (and this could be a version to version feature). When doing a change like disabling NAV and phone warnings at speed, you need to change a value from 15 or 10 to 250. The current version of the software does not permit the user to manually enter a value in the Test field and will not permit either testing or saving the new value until the Test field is populated. The Test field populates when the New Value field is changed by increments of one using the up and down buttons to the right of the field.
So, to make the change quickly, enter 249 in the New Value field, then click the up arrow increment button one time. The value of 250 will populate both the New Value and Tests fields, and you can either test or save the value.

Hi Sciblades, I have a 2012 A7 3.0T Prestige, Phantom Black, HUD, Night vision...you name it but B&O sound. I've tried several hacks, and am having a problem with a couple that hopefully you can assist with:
Enable windows and sunroof, 46 - central convenience, I've tried comfort operation remote control active and set advance key but the windows and sunroof will not function using the key
Enable lap timer...I understand this may not work for 2012
I still cannot find where to disable the parking assist volume and keep the back-up camera on...I did find the parking assist tone and volume, and tried switching the volume there off, but it did not work.
This is a great forum, and I've done the guage test-needle sweep, and diabled the warnings with nav and phone when moving!

Tr6pilot: here are the full instructions to enable windows from a previous post several pages back. All of these really need to be added to the first post to prevent continued confusion as these questions keep coming up.
Here are some new details and mods to (hopefully) add to the first thread.
Because I've seen multiple people asking about / having trouble with remote window up and down, here the expanded details to get this to work:
Operating Windows and Sunroof with Remote
This will allow enables remote closing of the windows and sunroof by holding the Lock button on the remote control. In addition, it adds an menu item in the MMI to optionally allow opening the front windows/rear windows/sunroof by holding the Unlock button on the remote.
[46 - Cent. Conv.] -> [Coding - 07] -> [Long Coding Helper] -> Byte 2-> Bit 2
Check "Comfort Operation: Remote Control active" box.
Save
Windows and Sunroof will now close with long button press of Lock button on remote.
To Open Front Windows and/or Rear Windows and/or Sunroof with long press of Unlock button on remote:
Reboot MMI to make sure the menu item appears (press Menu, Big Knob, and Top Right Soft Button simultaneously)
Use the New MMI Menu to Change MMI Settings to allow remote down
MMI: [Menu]->[Car]->[Car Systems]->[Vehicle Settings]->[Central Locking]->[Long press to open windows] -> Set Front Windows, Rear Windows, Roof to “On”
New Mods not listed in this thread:
A7/S7/RS7 Only: Close the trunk (a.k.a. boot) remotely using the key fob and/or interior trunk switch (and retain the opening feature)
Go to Module 46 (cent convenience), coding, long coding helper
byte 2, bit 2 "Comfort operation: Remote control active" should be checked, so no need to change it, just confirm that it's set.
No Change, Original Coding: Bit 2 checked
Then got to module 6D (Trunk Electrics), security access and enter security code "12345". Then still in Module 6D, click Adaptation, channel
and there are 8 options for "Activation using rear lid. . .". Change the two "number 4" settings to active.
Original Coding:
(1)-Activation using rear lid opening button in remote key - Touch function for opening: not active
(2)-Activation using rear lid opening button in remote key - Tap function for opening: active
(3)-Activation using rear lid opening button in remote key - Touch function for closing: active
(4)-Activation using rear lid opening button in remote key - Tap function for closing: not active
(1)-Activation using rear lid remote unlocking switch - Touch function for opening: not active
(2)-Activation using rear lid remote unlocking switch - Tap function for opening: active
(3)-Activation using rear lid remote unlocking switch - Touch function for closing: active
(4)-Activation using rear lid remote unlocking switch - Tap function for closing: not active
New Coding:
(1)-Activation using rear lid opening button in remote key - Touch function for opening: not active
(2)-Activation using rear lid opening button in remote key - Tap function for opening: active
(3)-Activation using rear lid opening button in remote key - Touch function for closing: active
(4)-Activation using rear lid opening button in remote key - Tap function for closing: active
(1)-Activation using rear lid remote unlocking switch - Touch function for opening: not active
(2)-Activation using rear lid remote unlocking switch - Tap function for opening: active
(3)-Activation using rear lid remote unlocking switch - Touch function for closing: active
(4)-Activation using rear lid remote unlocking switch - Tap function for closing: active
Changing the first "number 4" allows closing of the trunk lid with a quick press of the trunk button on the remote control.
Changing the second "number 4" allows closing of the truck lid with a quick pull of the trunk switch (in the driver's side door)
The trunk is still opened as before. It will beep when remote closing.
Change the time before the heated seats auto-change from level 3 to level 2
When the heated seat is set to full (level 3) it will only stay on full power (level 3) for 10 minutes before automatically dropping to level 2. To increase (or decrease) the amount of time this takes, go to
Module 08 (HVAC) -> Adaptation -> drop in down box select the option 'time until heated seat stage withdrawal from 3-2'.
Enter a new value. Save.
The default is 10, which is 10 minutes. I set it to 15 minutes. Change it to zero to prevent it from auto-switching from level 3 to level 2.
There is also an option for auto-changing from Level 2 to Level 1. This is disabled by default (set to zero.) If you want to enable this, enter a value in minutes.
Hope this helps others!

You can't disable the wink on the 2016's 7's including RS7.
The yellow turn signal LEDs on the SAME LED's as the DRL....They just change color from white to yellow when you activate the turn signals...thus you can't disable the wink.
I don't know about the pre-facelifted 7's.

Although I do notice that the 3's DRL/Turn signal lights are different from the 7's.....the 3's are continuous like a tube, vs the 7's you can see the individual LED's

I've seen this as well. Only the center high-mounted stop light (CHMSL) flashes, not the left and right brake lights. I've noticed it on several cars over the past few months.
There is a company that offers these to dealers as dealer-installed (non-OEM) options, and this is likely why we're starting to see them. The dealers will do anything to make a little extra profit. Here's the company; it's interesting that their FAQ doesn't address the most obvious question: "Does this product conform to NHSTA regulations?" https://www.safetyfirstbrakelight.com/

2016 S6 update for 5F Information Electronics Module
I was able to gain security access to the module using 20103 and VCDS ver 14.x. This allowed me to change some of the features under adaptation such as menu feature availability on the MMI. However, when I tried to update the speed setting for the MMI it gave me "Request Out of Range". So, still nothing there but 20103 does allow you to change many of the other settings. I now have the roadsign recognition on the MMI and will update everyone if I can figure out the other pieces necessary to enable that feature.

Thats the security access code I have but that link is just to adjust brightness on your DRL. I want to activate that function when I use my turnsignals that the white DRL lights up between every blinking like the A3 on the youtube clip

No worries, at highway speeds it will definitely keep you in the middle of the road. Great feature thats available on the new Q7, along with other kickassness. Next will be to extend the length of time that it steers without intervention.

Interestingly, it steers so much better that intervention is less frequent so the message calling for you to wake up is more frequent.
I look forward to your next project to increase the intervention time.

I found that a simple correction here and there kept it happy. Also, turn vibration off and it seems to work better. You can also set the intervention to Weak, Medium, or Strong in the 5F module.

Hi guys,
I tried several of these today on my 16' S6. Many of them I wasn't able to do because I couldn't figure out the channels. In the directions when it says to change channel 2 for instance, I will bring down the drop down menu and there seems to be several channel 2's. Moreover, many of them don't give a value option only activated or not. Does anyone know what I'm speaking of?
Also, does anyone know what change would stop that terrible beeping when you open the door regardless if you're in park or not?
Many thanks in advance.

Hi, thanks for the info. We managed to get the "Destinations for myaudi" menu to appear today but it keeps asking for the PIN and then it says it can't find the server. I really want the AUDI Connect menu in MMI so if anyone with a MY16 A6/A7 etc who has this feature could PM me with a full VCDS scan it would be greatly appreciated. Or if you know how to enable this AUDI Connect menu any info would be fantastic :)
you will get your pin through my.audi.com account when you link your VIN there
also, how did you manage to get online destination on the car? been trying that on my S6 and never got it to work... I would be happy with online search for destinations in the MMI itself, no need for "send to my car" [headbang]

Got the Audi Connect icon to display in my 2016 S6, but when selected it hangs on initializing (doesn't even ask for the pin). Synchronize nav pictures accepted my pin and of course then said there were no pictures, as I haven't uploaded any to MyAudi. Each time I selected it after that, it didn't ask for the pin again, so it must have accepted it.
This was all done using VCDS 15.7 and security code 20103, thanks to Drew. So a step closer...

Also PM me as I can give you my friends details who got the destinations from myaudi to appear in the sat Nav menu. Probably best to post it here, so all can see. The more people working on it, the better. [:)]
This is what's required to get the Audi Connect icon to be displayed, and the online destination and picture destination icons displayed:
Using v15.7:
[Select]
[5F - Information Electr.]
[Security Access] enter 20103
[Adaptation - 10] --> (8) ??? my_audi option (about half way down the list, channel 8)
Change to On
Just above and under there are two options for online destination (channel 4) and picture navigation (channel 9). Turn those on as well.
If you go straight to nav/destination after switching on the ignition the online dest and picture dest icons are greyed but eventually ungreys after about 10 seconds. Online destination says that the service is currently unavailable, when you do a search.
I think I now need to enable the audi connect menu entries, which I haven't found yet. Ran out of time yesterday.
Also does anyone know where I find this INFO/Settings menu:

That menu in your post is the old Sat Nav menu that no longer exists. You can now access some of the hidden menus via voice commands e.g. "Traffic Program Off", "Traffic Program" (Turns on). What is the main function you are after?

Thanks. My main aim is to get audi connect and online traffic working. Unfortunately the channel 69 option is not available in the 2016 model, and even if it was, I'm not sure where the "Online traffic data" option would appear (probably in the nav settings, like TP is now in the radio settings).
I'm also playing with road sign recognition. I saw a post somewhere, a while ago, where someone in the US got it almost working, only to find it wasn't support in the US, but I can't find that post now.
Just a warning to others, v15.7 supports enabling the road sign recognition menu in 5F, but does not allow you to turn it off. Also turning on other menus with check boxes can grey out other options. Currently my seat belt tensioner options are greyed out, in the seat settings, and I don't know why. I'll have to try back stepping my changes and see if it comes back. This sort of thing makes me a bit nervous about experimenting...

I don't believe the online traffic works in Australia as the service isn't available here and I assume it may be the same for NZ. Currently the traffic data is collected via FM or DAB. In your MMI Audio Settings select Announcements and you will see the only two traffic options we have for AU\NZ. The road sign recognition doesn't work in AU or NZ as our signs here all look the same with different speed limits listed, overseas the signs are different per speed limit (this is what was explained to me by a retrofit company). The seat belt tensioners are enabled in my car and I have heard changing some 5F settings can make options disappear from the menu system.
I'm at a similar point as you now so I can see the Audi Connect options, the car has accepted my PIN, Myaudi shows most series as activated but the car says it can't connect to the servers.

The online traffic is the google traffic information you see on google maps. It puts lines on either side of the road to show traffic congestion. See this thread:
http://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/showthread.php/158151-Enable-Online-Traffic-Data
Our speed signs are the same as England's and some other European countries. The 2015 BMW M5 I drove for a while worked with all our speed signs, except the black open road sign. I believe they look for a red circle with a number in it. See page 27 of the S6 owners manual (Camera-based speed limit display) and this thread:
http://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/showthread.php/153562-Traffic-sign-recognition-nearly-coded
When you say you can see the Audi Connect options, do you mean the icons in the navigation screen or after you select the Audi Connect icon, you see a menu? My car hangs on initializing Audi Connect, when I select the Audi Connect icon.

With Audi Connect I was able to open menu > Enter the PIN on first attempt > It said the PIN is correct > Then for example for online destinations said none are available. On closing and opening now all options say they can't connect to the server.
From the factory I have the traffic overlay over Google Maps but I thought that was info was just via the TMC\TP services (Collected via FM and DAB). The full online option I have been told doesn't work here as there is no licence for our regions (just in case this info is out of date I will ask around again).
With the sign recognition I was going to by the Kufatech dongle to enable it but they said don't bother and it doesn't work here. I might order the GB version of the dongle as a gamble to see how well it works.

Thanks for the info. Any idea what else was set, in your car, other than the 3 settings in the 5F adaptations, that allowed you to get to the audi connect menu? I was only asked for the pin when I went into the picture dest. on the Nav screen. Any chance you could display you long code for 5F. This was my setting before I made any changes:
Coding: 017551080000000013110002000A00102F0007E6F1700100DE
No traffic option offered here at all, even though I know the Garmin FM traffic information works here. I just assumed the google traffic would work, because I knew it had the google earth overlay on the navigation.

I should be able to give you an exact answer in the next 48 hours. ________________________________________
Disable NAV & Phone warning messages while entering data at speed
[5F - Information Electr.] -> Adaptation -> Set channel 2 & 3 to 250
On my C7.5 (2016) S6, when I visit the 5F - Information Electr. area, I see a huge pick list of channels, but there are hundreds in the list, with many of the supposed channels repeated, and none of the descriptions seeming to match what I'm trying to accomplish. I posted the same thing right after I bought this car. Nobody mentioned it being possible with VCDS. It's just not a feature on these cars. The feature for auto lock, under Central Convenience -> Adaptation, just locks the doors when the car hits 10MPH.

In any case, changing the Active Lane Assist from its factory default setting of "late" to "early" makes it a usable feature now. Ridiculous that Audi would set it up in "late" mode.

I'm under the impression there's no way to activate ALA even on cars equipped with front cameras, side assist, ACC, etc, correct? It seems like all the hardware is there, but I could be mistaken.

Did anyone figure out how to make the 2016 turn signal likes alternate between white & yellow? This looks like awesome feature and didn't want to see it lost.

It is actualy very simple to activate active lane assist only with VAG COM if you have ACC installed. Only bad thing is, that the lane assist will be turned on all the time and that you can only switch it off or fon with the VAG COM. Here is the coding (I am not sure if this will work on the facelifted Audi A6, A7 or A8):
Step 0 - Perform a scan of the vehicle and make sure modules 10, 16, 17, 44, 85 and 8E are present. 85 will not need to be coded but it does need to be present.
Step 1 – Access 10-Park/Steer Assist>07Coding>Long Coding Helper>Enable Byte 1 Bit 5 "Lane Maintenance Assist(PR-7Y4/7Y5) installed".
Step 2 – Access 16-Steering Wheel>07 Coding>Long Coding Helper>Byte 2 Bits 6&7 change to "C0 Lane Assist with Heading Control installed".
Step 3 – Access 17-Instruments>07 Coding>Long Coding Helper>Enable Byte 4 Bit 6 "Lane Assist Installed".
Step 4 – Access 44-Steering Assist>07 Coding>Long Coding Helper>Enable Byte 2 Bit 0 "Lane Assist installed"
Step 5 – Access 8E-Image Processing>07 Coding>Long Coding Helper>Byte 1 Bits 5&6 change to "40 Lane Assist and Lane Change Assist installed (PR-7Y5)"
Step 5a - Access 8E-Image Processing>Security Access>Enter code:20103
Step 5b - Access 8E-Image Processing>10 Adaptation>Steering wheel vibraton>activated
Step 5c - Access 8E-Image Processing>10 Adaptation>Steering assistance active>activated
Step 6 – Enter the hidden (green)menu on the MMI to activate the menu system for Active Lane Assist
Step 7 – Car>Cardevicelist>Check “Lane Departure Warning”
Step 8 – Car>Carmenuoperation>Lane Departure Warning – Change from 0 to 5
Step 9 – Clear all faults and refresh the system. No errors should be present.
When you will go to the test drive note, that active lane assist will start working when you will exceed the speed of 60 km/h.
I hope it helps. Wish you nice day and a happy new year.

My A6 has full LEDs. Is there a way to turn on just the DRLs when I unlock it with the key fob? It also seems that my interior lights have stopped coming on when I open the doors. Might have to revert one change at a time to see what happened.
Also, is there a good resource to learn how to, uh, learn VCDS. It would be nice to discover a few things and not just show up with questions.

I must admit that the complete coding is from this forum (http://www.audiworld.com/forums/a6-c7-platform-discussion-194/a6-active-lane-assist-retrofit-2890924/#post24738545): from guy Mrclopec. I just figured out how to activate it without changeing the steering column.
Traffic sign recognition:
I am working on it but for now with no sucess. I am gettng message "out of operational area" in the instrument panel on traffic sign recognition menu. In next month I am traveling to Austria (where this option can be factory ordered so it should work) and I will see if there will work. As I know audi traffic sign recognition is connected to gps so the system know in which country it is and it is turned on only in supported countries (thats why message "out of operational area"). One user from other forum has reported, that his MMI in one occasion did not boot up for obout 1 min from the engine start and in this time speed recognition was working, because there was no GPS report from MMI about location, after it was booted system stopped working. There is an kufatec dongle, that somehow trick the system and should work in most countries (but not 100% because of different signes shape, which built in camera do not support) and is also limited to specific cameras, that was bult in Audis in the past few years (you must look for your part number on audi camera and send it to kufatec, so they can send you the right dongle)
Wish you a nice day

can you point at the one item on the list that is the enabling without stalk function, so if I want to undo til I get the stalk, i only have to change one parameter, would be nice if it was under the green menu, or even better a setting in the MMI !!:-)

On the RS7--
With the lap timers displayed on the car's main display, the HUD will display oil temp and gear along with the MPH.
There has to be a way to keep this displayed on the HUD without having the lap timer mode going on the main display. I prefer the map screen/music/fuel consumption views but then the HUD information goes away.
Has anyone figured this out?

It's probably because the lap timer was implemented for track use, thus the temp and gear display.

You can turn it off only with VAG COM by repeat steps 5a,5b and 5c in my coding guide or with new stalk with the button and then also turn it on by repeating this steps. There is no menu to activate because I think do not exisist on the car.

On my car ALA is activeted all the time (I do not have the stalk) and I do not have any problems with. System starts working only above 60 km/h, so it is always deactiveted in the cities. And you can always deactiveted it completeley by doing opostite checks/adaptations in my coding guide, so you can give it a try without any risk. :)

Well, it looks like you answered the question you asked me. :) Honestly I've only taken the car out a couple times since, so I don't have a whole lot of data to tell you how I like it. I'd say I'm still in the honeymoon phase and things seem to perform nicely.
Say, one thing I noticed is that you have the LEDs around your speedometer like I have on mine. Also like mine, your LEDs only light up around a portion of the speedometer. They're dim all around and bright where I set the cruise. On mine (US model), they only light up dimly through about 95MPH. I can't for the life of me figure out how to get them to light up around the whole gauge. I'm picky, but it annoys me that now that I've enabled the gauge sweep that the needle moves around the whole face, but the lights stop at 95. Anyone know how to fix that?

I can't quite wrap my head around what this mod does exactly. I know that if I have the lane assist active, if the car starts to drift, it will correct itself. So what does changing the intervention to early do exactly? Also, if I change the "Intervention Moment" to early as well, what exactly does that accomplish? Or are they one in the same? Sorry for the dumb question but just looking for someone to elaborate on this particular mod. Thanks

My best guess is that for the US market, you cant set the cruise control higher than 95. Whereas on the Autobahn, the cars might have a higher limiter because the speeds are higher there.

Wanted to follow up on a few items:
1. Active Lane Assist - I did a 20 mile drive, mostly highway, this morning. ALA was okay, but I felt like the people around me might think I'm drunk. The car seemed to bounce back and forth more than I'd like. Intervention time is set to Early. Late made it worse.
2. LEDs around speedo - I found a few videos of US models with ACC, and thus the LEDs around the speedo. It seems that the LEDs stop at 95-100mph, so during a gauge sweep the needle moves all the way across, but obviously only lights through 95.
3. Interior lights - After some vag com updates I noticed my interior lights not coming on when opening doors. In a "duh" moment, I realized that the hard switch up near the sun roof had somehow been turned off...problem solved.
4. DRLs only on unlock with full LED headlights- I didn't realize that the lights only turn on at night, so that explains why it was sporadic. Works wonderfully at night and looks bad ass.

Nothing like a million fault codes, Audi dude coming in an hour and the MMI telling me the battery is weak and will shut off the car soon unless engine is started, smack dab in the middle of the process. I should be an expert at this drop now with how fast I had to reverse it just now. Coast is clear.

Yes dash and Windshield was replaced but I read is not so needed to do it/windshield. Nevertheless I had to since it was broken. I replaced to Pilkington but they produce only HUD for max MY2011. It requires to change back mirror + rain/light sensor but it is still cheaper than by OEM from Audi.
Then HUD + controller and wires. It was not complicated.
I did the same for night vision.
I did more mods: RS7 turbocharges + exhaust + almost same cooling system from RS7 (except right additional radiator for engine oil) + lane assist.
Now it has 670HP and like 800 mn.

I’m able to establish the connection normally with VCDS and I have already coded few features. Everything seems to be working normally, but why am I not able to enable the access to hidden menu?
I have tried with this procedure:
Tällä ohjeistuksella on yrittänyt:
Connect with module 5F – Control Head.
Choose procedure 10 – Adaptation.
Choose Channel 6.
Read stored value. By default it should be 0.
Change value to 1 and save it.
Read stored value. Now it should be 1.
Exit.
When I scroll to channel 6, by default it shows the value 0. Read –button is grey, so I can’t push it. I can change the value to 1, press test and save. After this the read –button works, but zero remains as a stored value. What could be the problem?

The only relevant coding I could see was an option to adjust activation sensitivity for when the headlights come on. However the lowest value is "normal" and everything else is "x% earlier." I tried experimenting with using different windshield types for the light sensor, switching from tinted to insulated, and even other vehicles but didn't have any effect on reducing the activation sensitivity of the light sensor.
Funny thing is I drive by plenty of other Audis that are running their DRL while my headlights are anxious to come if it's even slightly dark outside. This is for a 2016 RS7.

Yes, that seemed to be the problem. With changing channel 5, you can get the hidden menu enabled. However, next problem is that I want to enable interior lightning and battery monitor. I should choose the “car” from hidden menu, but I can’t find it from there. Any ideas?

Battery Monitor does not work on these cars.

Well the battery monitor was less important, but from where do I get to activate the interior lightning adjustment? Lightning is already coded on from VCDS, but the lights are quite dim and I want to adjust those.

If you go to car on the MMI and select vehicle setting it brings up a sub menu called interior. The adjustment is made there. There may be a step that I left out.

Yes, I know. But before that adjustment is available you have to activate the interior lights from VCSD (done!) and activate the option from hidden menu that the lights are adjustable. My problem is that I cannot find the option from hidden menu. Every instruction I’ve seen says: “hidden menu > car > cardevicelist”, but there is no “car” in my hidden menu.

I have an MMI high, so this is a SWAG. Look in the engineeringmenu.
My engineering menu includes the car submenu.

Skalle:
Did your retrofit include installation of the aux heater, or were you going the VCDS route to get access to the circulating fans? If you installed the heater, do you mind saying how much Audi charged for the retrofit?
Thanks!

What was the bill of materials for the retrofit?
Why Kufatec for wiring? Better price than Audi?

Hi there,
I have been told that my voice is not clear when I use the hands free. Is there coding to improve the quality of the microphone. I also find when talking to the lady hidden in the glove box that she does not understand my instruction. I suspect either a new microphone or coding.
I have also looked to see if I can change the number of flashes of the turn signal. Can someone post the coding instructions.
Thanks
Anybody have some input?
There is a microphone gain adjustment but no "microphone quality" adjustment.
I have never found a method to change the number of flashes.

Yes the steering wheels buttons stop it. Not sure which ones. Just press them all

Sure. But how disable it forever in VCDS?

Or if that doesn't work, just keep cutting wires until it stops[wrench]

Don't believe it is possible via VCDS, its different hardware.

That video posted has incorrect year of 2014.
The RS7 in the video is a post-facelift RS7...you can tell by the facelifted headlight. That means it must of a 2015 for Europeans, or a 2016 for North Americans.
Regardless what year, to answer your question...post-facelift 7's have the upgraded MMI with LTE and thus can have the Google map in the gauge cluster. 7 series that are pre-facelift have lower hardware and thus can't have that function...it's a hardware and not software issue (u can't change it via VCDS). You can differentiate Pre/post facelift 7's by the headlights.

Hey, I am going to try a few mods on my 2016 A6 this week. I'd like to get my trunk to close with key, needle sweep, lane assist changed to early, and gears to show in HUD.
Question; Has someone been successful changing the blinker to the blinker sweep(?) like the european A6's do? I don't know if this requires a different module or if the US Audis can be changed through VAG COM.
My 2nd question is what adaption level should be used to change the preset distance for ACC in VAG COM? I don't like the 3rd setting from the factory, 2 is what I always use so it would be helpful not to have to change it every time I use cruise control!
I have read through this thread and some pages on Audiworld but haven't seen a definite answer.
Thanks

The default time for the heater to fall back to to level 2 in my 2016 S6 was 10 minutes. I ended up reducing this to 5 minutes, as it got too hot, with my sport seats. There is a setting and it can be set to 0 to disable the fall back.

Thanks
It allows the steering to correct earlier which keeps the car more in the center of the lane and not bouncing around like a drunk person from side to side.

Your trunk should close if you hold the trunk button while standing by the trunk (it doesn't work if you are too far from the car), at least this is how my car behaves from the factory. The sweeping turn signals require different taillamp assemblies due to the different (and stupid) lighting requirements the US has compared to the rest of the world. Europrice sells a kit with the Euro lamps with the modules/coding required to make it work. I don't have any answers for the ACC, but I hope this helps a little bit.
