Anyone wanna help me make the service reminder go away? I tried the SRI reset on vagcom and it doesnt work for our models. They recommend this http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/Audi_A6_(4G)_Instrument_Cluster
I did everything recommended on there but the reminder wont go away. It just shows up as next service in 9900 miles . But wont go away.

Does anyone live in the St. Louis area with a Ross-Tech VAG Cable? Need to reset the service indicator and like to apply two of the mods. Worth a few pints (or a couple from my beer cellar) - let me know.

I followed the steps in the Ross-tech wiki, specifically
http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/VW_Golf/Golf_Plus_(5K/52)_Instrument_Cluster#Oil_Change_Service_Reminder
[17 - Instruments]
[Adaptation - 10]
Choose "ESI: Resetting ESI" from the drop-down menu.
Make sure you have the latest VCDS installed.

I want to know few things on the VCD
1) How do I enable the second stage of Traction control ? Because apparently i only have the ECS Sport mode. I contacted Austin @ Giac and their S6 has 2 modes which the second mode turns traction off completely by pressing the ECS button for 7 seconds. but when I try pressing the ECS button for even 15 seconds it doesnt shut down and wont go to sport mode anymore unless i switch off the vehicle.
2) How to disable the noisy ass beep sound when the door is open ?
3) When vehiche is runing I can only open the trunk from inside the car.. How do I enable the switch on the trunk to work ?
4) Is there any way to enable on board monitoring for Intake temps and trans temp ?
Thanks.

I would think so. Only because they arent really considered fog lights on the LED kit, more like cornering lights.

Ordered a cable on wednesday and received it today. I read through the thread several times previous, and had a good idea of what to expect. Actually what took the longest was getting out an old, old, old HP laptop (10+years running XP (we generally use only mac)) and getting it connected to a modern wireless network and updated, just so I could go to Ross Tech and download the software. [o_o] Once I had it installed, and plugged in and tested, I went to town on some Vag-Comming ! I did the brighter DRLs(85%), VIM(I didn't even know the fucking thing would play a DVD!), Remote windows(a standard Honda feature and a must), lap/boost/shift, auto gear selection(sweet!!), double disarm beep, 15mm lowered[drool][evilsmile], Adaptive brake lights. I haven't done the hidden menu yet, but will next time I have time just to do the TPMS and the import CDs to the MMI HDD.
sciblades and TunTap, and all the others who did the reading, compiling, research and guinea-pigging with their cars....a very big thank you from me. It took less than a half an hour to do all of these mods with an old ass laptop and a 300$ usb cable. I can't imagine the hours put into making that happen, but it's members like you guys that make these forums so worthwhile, posting your results and your research for the rest of the community to benefit. [hail]
Even you "guy who cut the hole in the top of his S4 hood guy", who made the effort to try something new for the greater good of the Audi enthusiast community. [az]
Edit: for everyone that keeps asking what the hidden menu does, read the mod list in the first post and you will see several mods there that begin with the step.. access the hidden menu.[facepalm]

My 2014 S6 didn't do the windows up and down until I VagCommed it. I tried. I would love it if there was an option to enable remote start, but I haven't seen it anywhere on any of the lists.

I observed something on the vagcom. When you hit channel 17 and then adaptations 10, then you go to select channel, there is something like change traffic sign option.. anyone have an idea what that is? or what it could do? More specifically if anyone tinkered with it yet?
Edit: I feel it is related to the car reading the speed limit signs and stuff like that. Enlighten me.. Please!

You can unlock the trunk in your settings. It will open any time the cars unlocked.
How to disable the noisy ass beep sound when the door is open ?
As far as I know you only can confirm it on steering wheel (arrow keys). Anotherway is to seal the speaker on backside from the "dashboard". This reduce the volume of the beep, but also all the other "beeps" ...
I want the ACC to "follow" the car in traffic without intervention, which is what some Audi's do in ROW. I think that there is an EU video that shows this. I do not think that it is a "necessary" safety feature unless Audi implements this like an Audi 5000 with "unintended acceleration"!
I would like some help with this if anybody has tried this:
13 - Auto Distance Regulator.
16 - Security Access.
This is where I need the help - this access code allows for the subsequent step but I do not have a code and Ross-Tech does not either. They told me that if they knew it then it would show up. If I had the code then it would enable me to change the following:
10 - Adaptation.
select "Driving off without Driver Trigger After Short Stop"
select Yes or Do It (I don't remember).
I think this will give me the desired results but without the code it's not possible.
-----------------------------------------------------------
My ADS is set to Individual and Individual has the red border. If I select it then my car shows the Engine/Transmission in Dynamic which shows up in the DIS with D-S vertically.
The next day, I start my car and check the ADS. The Individual still has the red border but my DIS shows D, implying that my Engine/Transmission is in D and therefore Individual is not selected. I drive away and select the already highlighted Individual and the Action is selected with a change in response and the DIS showing D-S vertically again.
The conclusion is that, although the last selection is highlighted, it actually has not selected the parameters that are set in Individual until the selection is made again.
I changed the following:
09 - Central Electronics
16 - Security Access
Pop up shows 20113 (which works fine)
10 - Adaptation
Channel 63 (In theory selects Default ADS mode with 4 being Individual)
Read = 0
Change to 4
Read - 4
Done - Go Back
Exit Exit Exit
Has anybody else tried modifying the above features or have any insight?

Hi all. I was attempting to do the following mod this AM on my '14 A6...
Enable Automatic Gear selection shown in DIS
[02 – Auto Trans] [Adaptation – 10]
Select “Single Gear Display” from top channel drop down menu
Select “D on/S on” from New value drop down menu
...but when I clicked on "Do It!" I got the following pop-up...
Adaptation Error
This appears to be an initialized code module; valid WSC/Importer/Equipment data may be required.
Click [Yes] for VCDS to use default values of 12345/123/12345
Click [No] for VCDS to try the values currently in the module.
Click [Cancel] to go back and manually edit the values.
I had not seem any mention of this pop-up in this thread or on any other forums referring to this hack. Any advise on how I should proceed? For now I clicked "Cancel" but I'd like to get the hack going if I could.
Thanks in advance

Anyone know how I can get rid of the 10 second "put your hand back on the steering wheel" timer??
Where can one find an explanation of all of the "long coding" bits that aren't in VCDS? Is there an Audi internal document showing these? Someone must know....

I recently spent some time going through the various VCDS modules, to see if there were any new mods that I might want to try out. To my surprise, in the cases where there was a pull-down menu to select the region, around half of mine were set to North America (NAR) and half were set to Rest of World (RoW). Has anyone else noticed this in their US Audis?
For kicks, I tried just changing one: I changed the ACC from NAR to RoW. I can't say that I've noticed any difference based on a couple days of driving with it.

I have been looking for that myself. Easiest fix : hang a soda can to the wheel and *TADAAAA* you can keep your hands off for as long as you want - a guy in Russia did something like that with success.

It might allow for the 3 or 10 second pull away from stop issue. US requires driver intervention to pull away from a stand still.

Hi Everyone,
As many of you know, I am doing a 2013 S6 build/transformation to an RS6. I'm trying to install the instrument cluster from an RS6 C7 body to my S6 C7 body. Problem is that I can't get the new cluster to accept any kind of coding so that it will work correctly with my car. Obviously the Audi scan tool won't do it since this cluster is not meant for my car. Vag Com keeps coming back with error message saying Coding rejected, Error 31: Request out of range. Tried building the code with the Long Coding Helper and tried inputing the code from an RS6 in Germany, no luck. Tried the old login for access authorization but it doesn't accept that either. Anybody have any ideas? Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I'm not sure I understand what the "3 or 10 seconds" is, but my ACC still does require driver interaction to pull away from a standstill (even after I changed vagcom setting to "Rest of World").
However, I did notice one difference when using the ACC in a long stop-and-go commute yesterday: There were several times when the ACC was accelerating/decelerating the car and at the same time the red "getting too close" symbol would appear. I'm speculating that the ACC with RoW-setting is maybe a little more aggressive than the Pre-Sense with US settings? I'm not brave enough to change the Pre-Sense vagcom settings, so I'll be switching my ACC back to US.

You're welcome.
I suspect you can. I know I did that on my S5 with Ecodes - I Vag'd the front side markers off, and removed the bulbs - no error code. I guess, if you want to be safe, you could just leave the bulb in there and zip tie - it really wouldn't harm anything (and probably keep your harness plug free of grime too).
I'm not sure I understand what the "3 or 10 seconds" is, but my ACC still does require driver interaction to pull away from a standstill (even after I changed vagcom setting to "Rest of World").

I think this might be confirmation bias. I've had mine (which I've never changed) do this as well. I was doing around 50 MPH~ on the highway and a car in front of me got on his brakes pretty hard and I had the red "you're getting too close" chime come on and I had to intervene (maybe not, wasn't going to chance it).
The ACC will go from a stop as long as you're not stopped for too long (as stated in the manual). However, if you're stopped for a while it will require either a pull on the ACC stalk or a tap of the gas pedal. Not needing this would be awesome.
Though, I'd be willing to put down a bounty $$$ if someone could figure out how to turn on auto park... I know its in the software but due to terrible US regulations Audi's can't be enabled *grumble*.

If you are still in Dubai, I honestly don't know how that works over there but here in US you have to subscribe to Sirius Traffic Service to get Traffic Information. By the way, I heard that in Europe maybe UK they distribute that information for free.

well I was hoping info is gathered from Google (as traffic info works in google maps from desktop/mobile)... but thing I'm mostly interested is ability to send destination from PC to the car :-)

I'm confident it is using Google for my car in Norway, we do not have any Sirius or other providers of digital data.

Looking through these posts earlier and saw the Lap Timer/Boost meter and was searching out videos of what it looks like. Found this one... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TBl5IqBFtAE I believe the Boost meter is the gray bar that is next to the RPM gauge so what is the bar that lights up across the middle? Or is that the Boost meter?

Hi Everyone, Im new to Audi and Ross-Tech. I have the Hex Net module. I tried to some coding and for some reason Im having a hard time with a few things. I found the remote windows roll up options and activated it. I see the option in my MMI but it still doesn't work. Having an RS7 my lap-timer should automatically work and it does but I cant see any boost gauge. The hidden MMI screen didn't work for me either. I followed the coding and restarted the MMI. I was able to turn off the seat belt chime but the chime that's really driving me nuts is when I open the driver door while the engine is running . The chime is horrible, pressing the arrows on the steering wheels shuts it off but I would love to permanently disable it. If anyone can help with any of these issues I would really appreciate the help. Thanks in advance. Jamie

No one has been able to find a fix for this. The best I have found is to hit the little button on one of the stalks - that silences the chime.

I think it is - I think mine only does LEDs - but I need to check. Should be an option under coming home.

ok, so i played with this yesterday and here's how it went. i had changed the led brightness with turn signals according to the writeup found here: http://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?132245-A6-C7-VCDS-Tricks
basically this:
18. Disable DRL dim on turn signal
[Select]
[09 - Central Elec.]
[Security Access - 16]
Code: 20113
[Adaption - 10]
Channel 3
Set between 5 and 100
[Do It!]
(I found 50 to be a good setting).
i set it to 100 tho...
anyway, i walked out to confirm and it didn't work again. but what i found out was that it would work if i turned the headlight selector knob from Auto to the manual running lights. here's a couple shots.
with the selector knob set to Auto

Also - the tweak that brightens up LEDs - I assume that's the DRL LEDs, right? Does it also work for LED headlights (non xenon headlights that is)?

Since your coding is 0004FC, the last byte 'FC' has bit 0, 1, 2, 3,4,5 set to 1. Mine has bit 2,3,5 set to 1. I may need to try bit 0, 1, or 4 to see whether I can turn the heated wheel on and feel it. Thanks again.
Were you ever able to get your heated steering wheel to work? I'd like to add this feature as well. Wondering if bits 0/1/4 made any difference.

Here are some new details and mods to (hopefully) add to the first thread.
Because I've seen multiple people asking about / having trouble with remote window up and down, here the expanded details to get this to work:
Operating Windows and Sunroof with Remote
This will allow enables remote closing of the windows and sunroof by holding the Lock button on the remote control. In addition, it adds an menu item in the MMI to optionally allow opening the front windows/rear windows/sunroof by holding the Unlock button on the remote.
[46 - Cent. Conv.] -> [Coding - 07] -> [Long Coding Helper] -> Byte 2-> Bit 2
Check "Comfort Operation: Remote Control active" box.
Save
Windows and Sunroof will now close with long button press of Lock button on remote.
To Open Front Windows and/or Rear Windows and/or Sunroof with long press of Unlock button on remote:
Reboot MMI to make sure the menu item appears (press Menu, Big Knob, and Top Right Soft Button simultaneously)
Use the New MMI Menu to Change MMI Settings to allow remote down
MMI: [Menu]->[Car]->[Car Systems]->[Vehicle Settings]->[Central Locking]->[Long press to open windows] -> Set Front Windows, Rear Windows, Roof to On
New Mods not listed in this thread:
A7/S7/RS7 Only: Close the trunk (a.k.a. boot) remotely using the key fob and/or interior trunk switch (and retain the opening feature)
Go to Module 46 (cent convenience), coding, long coding helper
byte 2, bit 2 "Comfort operation: Remote control active" should be checked, so no need to change it, just confirm that it's set.
No Change, Original Coding: Bit 2 checked
Then got to module 6D (Trunk Electrics), security access and enter security code "12345". Then still in Module 6D, click Adaptation, channel
and there are 8 options for "Activation using rear lid. . .". Change the two "number 4" settings to active.
Original Coding:
(1)-Activation using rear lid opening button in remote key - Touch function for opening: not active
(2)-Activation using rear lid opening button in remote key - Tap function for opening: active
(3)-Activation using rear lid opening button in remote key - Touch function for closing: active
(4)-Activation using rear lid opening button in remote key - Tap function for closing: not active
(1)-Activation using rear lid remote unlocking switch - Touch function for opening: not active
(2)-Activation using rear lid remote unlocking switch - Tap function for opening: active
(3)-Activation using rear lid remote unlocking switch - Touch function for closing: active
(4)-Activation using rear lid remote unlocking switch - Tap function for closing: not active
New Coding:
(1)-Activation using rear lid opening button in remote key - Touch function for opening: not active
(2)-Activation using rear lid opening button in remote key - Tap function for opening: active
(3)-Activation using rear lid opening button in remote key - Touch function for closing: active
(4)-Activation using rear lid opening button in remote key - Tap function for closing: active
(1)-Activation using rear lid remote unlocking switch - Touch function for opening: not active
(2)-Activation using rear lid remote unlocking switch - Tap function for opening: active
(3)-Activation using rear lid remote unlocking switch - Touch function for closing: active
(4)-Activation using rear lid remote unlocking switch - Tap function for closing: active
Changing the first "number 4" allows closing of the trunk lid with a quick press of the trunk button on the remote control.
Changing the second "number 4" allows closing of the truck lid with a quick pull of the trunk switch (in the driver's side door)
The trunk is still opened as before. It will beep when remote closing.
Change the time before the heated seats auto-change from level 3 to level 2
When the heated seat is set to full (level 3) it will only stay on full power (level 3) for 10 minutes before automatically dropping to level 2. To increase (or decrease) the amount of time this takes, go to
Module 08 (HVAC) -> Adaptation -> drop in down box select the option 'time until heated seat stage withdrawal from 3-2'.
Enter a new value. Save.
The default is 10, which is 10 minutes. I set it to 15 minutes. Change it to zero to prevent it from auto-switching from level 3 to level 2.
There is also an option for auto-changing from Level 2 to Level 1. This is disabled by default (set to zero.) If you want to enable this, enter a value in minutes.
Hope this helps others!

Got my vag-com today (Thanks Hugh!) and even managed to get it up and running on my Macbook. Checked a code (more on that septel) and made a few changes (VIM activated, lap timer enabled), but punked out when I got to the following:
Enable Remote Operation Windows and Sunroof
[46 - Cent. Conv.] [Coding - 07] -> [Long Coding Helper] Byte 2
Bit 2 - Set to 1
When it says "BIT 2 - SET TO 1" what exactly am I setting to 1? That long ass binary code I'm seeing? I didn't want to delete those numbers and jack something up. Did a quick search and didn't see an answer but I'll keep looking.
EDIT: Disregard - about to go do what uttevrec just posted!

Ok. Any idea how to get the correct security code for the newer models so I can enable VIM?
EDIT: I heard back from them. Their support sent me over a file which eliminated the error on auto-scan, but 5F is still useless. I can't figure out how to manually change "Channel x", just use the not-so-human-readable drop down, so I'm out of luck until they get back to me with directions. So far, all I've done is disable the seatbelt chime (which I forgot to test, since when I took off from work, I buckled up) and enable the current gear indicator for D & S.
EDIT 2: I also got the CD Import working. No Hidden Menu required. 5F > 10 > "(2)-Copy multimedia data-Optical drive" set to "On" and reboot MMI. It will take about 30 seconds of playing the first track before it will let you copy to the onboard storage.

Problem Solved, for all user of VCDS software always make note of the code before you change it. Otherwise you can get into serious trouble, like I did, fortunately after search the WWW for solutions and reading 1000's of messages, I found out that VCDS keep a coding log of what you have done, once you have found it put the old code back which fixes the mistake. Otherwise its a trip to the Audi servicing agent and coming out Ģ1500 lighter after they have changed you central controller and up loaded new software. A very salutary lesson has been learnt!

That's because of lawyers in the USA.
If we could get some damned tort reform passed, then the manufacturers might be able to enable these kinds of features for us. [:p]

The coding listed in the first post under "Remote Operation - Windows & Sunroof" enables this. After the coding change, you have to go into the CAR menu in the MMI to enable it, and you're able to selectively apply it to the front windows, rear windows, and sunroof. It will only pop the sunroof open to the vent position and not completely retract it, but the closing function will close it regardless of what position it is left in. Works perfectly on my 2013 S6.

You obviously didn't read my post...my car is a 2016 and the remote operation is already enabled by the factory and it's an option that's accessible in MMI without any tinkering with VCDS. My point/question is that the option allows you to lower windows/crack moonroof but unlike my previous Audi where I had to enable it with a VAGCOM cable, it doesn't allow you to close windows/moonroof. I was wondering if anyone has figured out how to enable the closing as whatever changes they made to the new MMI for MY2016, the function is limited to only opening.

When I was tinkering with the everything, the security access code was automatically popping up for everything that needed one. As soon as I would click on the security access, a tiny little box with the correct security code would show up right above where I needed to enter the code.

Brooklyn, The Wheels aren't stock is the problem I am guessing. The fitment is pretty aggressive. I only lowered the car 9mm, and it only seems to rub in dynamic over 50mph. Or sometimes on 30mph corners that have a bump. He isn't happy with the fitment of the wheels so he has ordered some german RS6 wheels and they will be arriving in June. I just want to know if there is a way to stop the car dropping at speed in any of the menus. Now it is just a challenge [:D]

Hello to all on this Forum.
I am trying to code Aux Ventilation which was posted on first page, but I can not get this working. I did coding like it was said. First I enabeled hidden menu (I also checked if it was enebled in 5F channel, and it was enebeled) and enebeled aux ventilation menu there and then I checked also byte 1 - bit 3 and byte 1 - bit 4 in the 08 Avto HVAC channel, but there is no menu in the car settings after coding. I tryed this on an Audi A7 2011 and Audi A6 2011, but with no success. I also tried to visit this webpage that was posted (http://www.audienthusiasts.com/VagCom_AuxVent.html) for aditional info, but the webpage is down now, so I do not know what else do I need to code, to eneble Aux ventilation.
Please help, because this is really cool feature to have on my car.
Post form the first page:
Enable Auxiliary ventilation
http://www.audienthusiasts.com/VagCom_AuxVent.html
[5F - Information Electr.] [Coding - 07] -> Long Coding Helper -> Byte 6
Bit 1 – Set to 1
[Hidden menu] [car] [cardevicelist] [Auxiliary heating] Enable
[08 - Auto HVAC] [Coding - 07] -> Long Coding Helper -> Byte 1
Bit 3 – Set to 1
Bit 4 – Set to 1
Just for info is it possible to code blinker lights on the 2011 A6 to flash like on the 2015 facelift model??

I am also having trouble enabling aux. ventilation on a 2014 RS7. The step that seems to be different is changing the HVAC adaptation. The audienthusiast's guide specifies: 08- HVAC/10- Adaptation/Channel 6 change 0 to 1. When I access that module, I get a long list of adaptations and do not have the option of selecting a channel. I see nothing in the list of adaptations that seems related to a fan blower speed. I am using VCDS version 14.10.02.
Mojito, have you tried the VCDS beta? I have not.
(I used the Wayback machine (www.archive.org) to access the latest copy they had on file of the VagCom_AuxVent.html page, dated in February of 2015.) Page 1 is complete. Page 2, the usage instructions, has some images missing.)
Any ideas would be well received!

Hello gars7,
I think that adaptation of channe 6 is only for disabling the error (when you perform scan with VCDS) that the car will display after enebeling aux. ventilation. Thanks for this info with archive.org I did not know that you can search sites that are down. Well now I see that this guide is written for audi A4/A5 and Q5, so I think that there is a catch and that we can not use the same coding for A6 or A7. So I do not understand why is the link on the first page pointing to the site where is describing something that is not actually written for new audi A6/A7. And yes I have the same version of VCDS as you and also did not try VCDS beta.
If someone have coding for new Audi A6/A7 this would be really nice.
Dont know if this might help, use translate if you need:

It is basicly same procedure described in my post #393. I think that the problem is in new version of VCDS. On this page (www.stemai.de), when you open guide, hot to enable aux. ventilation in New Audi A6, you can see that he did this mod. with the VCDS version 1.0.6.8. Mybe this is a catch?

There are two places in the hidden menu (i.e., Engineering Menu) that must be enabled (checked off) to get the MMI menu items to show.
I have version 1.0t of the Engineering Menu in my 2014 RS7.

Select Auxiliary Heating by using the MMI large knob to position the cursor on the correct line and then turn the large knob to set the value of the number on the line to 5.

I did not have time to experiment further with the functionality of the auxiliary fans, but can confirm the steps above get the Auxiliary Heater function as a selectable item under the Car menu.

Hello gars7,
Just to inform you that I tried the feature and I set the timer and the ventilation works. I did everything that you described in your post and I also enebeled bit 3 and 4, that are described in my post #393. It is really great feature in these hot days
And just one more maybe stupid question. Is it possible to code the aux. heater remote control? I do not know if it comunicate to some antenna on the real webasto or it comunicate with the car antenna (same as normal key). The cost of aux. remote is not so big, so it would be nice to have a remote to enable ventilation.
What do you think about that?

Mojito:
Glad to hear the process worked for you!
I have not looked into requirements for coding a remote key with auxiliary heating/ventilation. My key fob does not have that capability, that is, it has no button for controlling auxiliary heating on the fob. It seems to me that there are two questions: (1) will Audi sell a key fob with the additional button and (2) will they code it?
If Audi will sell and provision the key fob, then that is probably the best way to proceed, that way all buttons on the key fob will work appropriately, albeit at some expense!
Instead, if your intention to source and provision an alternative remote control just for the auxiliary ventilation, then I defer to other readers of this thread - they can better advise you regarding what type of remote control to purchase, etc.

Mojito
06-03-2015, 12:32 AM
McFuzz,
I will try to write a little guide on how I eneble aux. ventilation on A6 and A7:
1. You need to enable hidden menu on your car and you need VagCom to do it. you can enable hidden menu with this coding that you can also find it on the first page:
Enable Hidden menu in MMI
[5F - Information Electr.]
[Adaptation - 10] -> Channel 6
change 0 to 1
2. It is best to do a reset of the MMI (See picture (http://s1147.photobucket.com/user/dotmanish/media/A6%20Generic%20Pics/audi_mmi_reset_zps90b224fc.jpg.html)) and after reset you need to open hidden menu. you need to press "MENU" and "CAR" at exactly the same time (this is a little bit tricky) for about 5-6 seconds. You will know that you pressed them at same time if there is no red light on the knob MENU and CAR when pressed. The hidden menu or so called green menu should start loading.
3. Now you need to enable 2. things.
Go to car/cardevicelist and find Auxiliary Heating. Enable it by pressing the big round MMI knob.
Then go back to the main page of the green menu and go to car/carmenuoperation and find Auxiliary Heating line. Select it by pressing the big MMI knob and then set value to 5 by rotating the big MMI knob. Once again press the big MMI knob to conform selection and then exit the green menu by pressing CAR knob (or any other knob (MEDIA, RADIO, PHONE, ...).
Once again reset MMI.
4. Now you need to activate another 2 bits using VagCom and the procedure is also described on the first page, but I am posting it again:
[08 - Auto HVAC] [Coding - 07] -> Long Coding Helper -> Byte 1
Bit 3 – Set to 1
Bit 4 – Set to 1
Now you need to press the CAR knob and then select Car systems (low left corner) and you should have new menu "Auxiliary Heater". In this menu you can set timers when you want to start ventilaton or how long do you want to keep ventilation on after you leave the car.
I hope that is understandable guide. :)

As I know you only have 2 options:
1. You can only set 3 different timers, when do you want your car to be ready for departure and the time (10 min to 60 min) for how long do you want ventilation to work before departure time.
2. You can set the vents for how long (10 min to 60 min) do you want them to work after you turn off your car. This is usefu when you go to some store or when you leave the car for a short period of time, so it stay cool when you return.
You can not set temperature (as I know) and your car will just ventilate with the air form outside, so your car will not be very hot, but will be roundly so hot as outside air temperature. So in my opinion there is no point to set temperature, because you can not actually cool down your car like with climate control.
Correction: I found in the manual, that you can set temperature. To be more specific, if you have a real aux. heater installed (which we do not, or we would have aux. heater menu enabeled by default), your car will warm up to the temperature that was last set on your climate control. For aux. ventilation there is no temperature set I think from the reasons I described above.

i think this is new for the 2016 models because my 2014 never did this. there is a module for airbag in vcds but most of it has to do with "igniters" and i'm not going to monkey around with those but the one adaptation in there deals with either activating or blocking but doesn't seem to help, actually gives a warning if changed from factory status.

I received a reply from vlarsen:
"The Battery meter is no longer available - if you want the meter, you need to buy an older model - and this can not be one from the A7/S7/RS7 range."
You may encounter the same difficulty.
I wish I had more optimistic information to convey.

Unless there is an explorer on the forum who can comb through the settings via vag com on their computer not sure where it is to enable the meter. Under hidden menu its fairly simple, enable and change setting to 5 but no idea where to change in vehicle settings byte.

To disable the tail light side marker bulbs on post-facelift A6/S6:
Central Convenience
Security code: 16017
Adaptations
Enter Channel 207
Change value to 0 (my stock value was 51201)
Enter Channel 208
Change value to 0 (my stock value was 51233)
FYI the coding to disable red tail light markers for a 2016 RS7 is the same but the channels are 209/210

Hello guys,
I found on the other forum another great feature for all the cars that do not have audi connect and google maps installed and I think that was not posted yet here. You can eneble WI-FI via hidden menu (how to enable hidden menu is described in first post of this thread). After that you will get new media source (when you are in MEDIA menu you press source - right upper button and you will have new wi-fi source on the list) you will also have new menu in telephone for wi-fi settings. With this enebeled, you can use audi stream music app on your android phone or iPhone. Now what I am trying to find out is if I can use Wi-FI as a client. with that I could use my phone as a hot-spot and share 3G data with the car. This way I could probabbly use google maps in my car. I know that you can do this on the new VW platform (Golf 7, new Passat) and if this setting can be set on all devices (home computers, phones, ...) I do not see the reason why this wouldl not work in the Audi. I found a guide where you can eneble google maps with AMI+AMI USB cable+router+Ethernet cable+script for MMI... but I do not want to do that hack, because there is to much cable involved and I do not like hacking MMI with unofficial scripts. :) How to enable WI-FI in hidden menu:
1. /diagnose/settings/WLAN_Settings enable WLAN Activation
2. /diagnose/settings/tel_settings enable NAD activation and NAD operation mode
Any suggestions how to use wi-fi as a client?

Thank you for posting this. I have a facelift Canadian model so I don't have the SIM card slot plus likely most of the background hardware/firmware so am very interested in using my phone as a Wi-Fi hotspot. However, when playing around with the Media Source function I found this:
http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l97/spidey9999/Thread%20pictures/IMG_0195_zpsolfoezur.jpg (http://s94.photobucket.com/user/spidey9999/media/Thread%20pictures/IMG_0195_zpsolfoezur.jpg.html)
and then clicking on Settings showed this:

Anyway, I am lost when it comes to this stuff (and VCDS 15.6.1 Beta doesn't appear quite ready for prime time yet) so I haven't attempted any changes.
Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

Hello Spidey9999,
Did you enable wi-fi using my guide with hidden menu or you already have wi-fi enabled from factory?? Only with wi-fi you can not do much (you can only stream online or local music from your phone or tablet with the Audi Connect Music Stream App, that you can find on android market or app store from apple. As you I am also trying to find a way how to send 3G data to the car, so that I could then enable Google Maps in the car MMI. You could only do that if you could set the car wi-fi setting to be a client. That way you could set your phone as a hotspot and then connect your car to your phone having internet connection (but in this way you could not connect other devices to the car wi-fi), but that is not an option in the car settings so no internet with the hotspot. I am looking for solution, where I could retrofit a SIM card feature to my car.
Now I am asking if someone have installed a car phone (inside the armrest of the car) if they can use google maps and other online services, because in the car phone you must enter SIM card. Just thinking! :)

I have the issue on my S6 where I have the sim card slot for google maps - but my cell provider won't / says they can't issue me with a extra sim card that is tied to the same number as my actual cell phone - so if i stick in an extra sim card - i can get data and google maps going but it then boots my cell phone off so i dont get mobile calls through the car via bluetooth.
just crazy that you cant link the car to use your mobile data as a hotspot for things like google maps etc! if someone can find a work around for that it would be awesome

But on the harware front,
I'm wondering if it's possible to use the following (#2 below) and not have to have a separate USB hub...
1.) AMI to Female USB (not sure why it says Mercedes yet sticker has Audi rings) (http://www.ebay.com/itm/AUX-Media-Interface-USB-Female-Audio-Adapter-Cable-AMI-For-Mercedes-Benz-/331571465495?hash=item4d33330d17&vxp=mtr)

My understanding off this solution is exactly that, as far as I can see it.
they change the built in wifi to client mode, an connects that via wifi to the raspberry pi that acts as a wifi router.
I think :-)

From Post #391:
For 2016 models you can try the Vag com beta 15.xx
http://www.ross-tech.com/vcds/downlo...a/current.html
From their change log:
"Revised and expanded ODX/ASAM Data.
Includes support for latest modules in the most recent cars."
Last week I tried the Beta on my 2016 and there are lots of gaps in what can be done (basically I couldn't find anything in any module that was available on earlier cars using Version 14.XX)

already using the beta version but i tried the older version as well with no joy.
on the plus side i did finally get the height adjusted perfectly on all 4 corners. both fronts are identical as well as both rears between each side.(+/- 1mm which is pretty darned close) the key to success is that when using lowering links AND vcds, 1mm change in software does not = 1mm change in height because the links have altered the ratio...duh. more like 1mm change in software =~2mm change in height when using links fyi.

With respect to the car phone, unlike my B7 A4 my 2016 has nothing in the armrest for a phone.

They arent really fog lights as much as they are used for the cornering lights at lower speeds. You wont notice much in front of you having them on all the time, they are definitely more for lighting up the side or corner.

I believe the coding is different for the 2016 models as I don't recall seeing anyone that got it working using the same methods described in this thread and elsewhere (which work on my '13 and many others). I believe I also read that the window-down-via-keyfob functionality is actually present before doing the coding changes, so they effectively do nothing, though I could be wrong on this as I don't have a '16 to test.

i think that is correct. the option to enable/disable window opening via keyfob is already setup from the factory in the mmi.
the issue is trying to get the window closing via keyfob to work which is a mystery for now.
both open/close worked just fine on my 2014 model, but audi has made a bunch of software changes to these 2016 vehicles...argh.
i suspect this is a "safety" issue of not allowing people to close windows remotely, silly.

a) worth of adaption channel 34 reduce by 4 (effected Bit 2 to 0) = SSA per default after each ignition on to off

Did you change your old regular bulb to a LED bulb??
If yes, then you need to get a different LED bulb with "error cancellation"

I was reading on the other forums that the Audi A6 and A7 cars with the ACC installed, have the all equipment needed for lane assist to work. So all we need is a coding. Is there anyone that was trying to enable lane assist? maybe just partly coded something?

I was helping a friend today who has a 2013 Jetta TDI by doing some VCDS tweaks on his car. On the MK6, you actually CAN adjust the # of blinks for the automatic turn signal. The default is 3 -- I was able to adjust his to 5.
There's GOT to be a way we can do this for our cars - - I'm just not finding it. :/

You also don't need to leave the router powered up all the time, once it caches the maps in your area and route you can power it off.

Can you explain what this mod actually does?

Enables tire pressuring monitoring system which keeps an eye on tire pressure and opens an interactive menu in your instrument cluster to do so. I'm not sure if Audi has some sort of automatic non-menu-engaged TPMS in place that doesn't require this mod but I want the menu that lets me see it with my own eyes before waiting for a dummy light (if one exists). Most newer luxury cars have this standard so not sure why Audi makes us work to enable it but there you go lol [:D]

So this actually tells you the pressure of each individual tire? Ive never activated this but I have gotten warnings in the past that told me which tire was low. Is that what it turns on?

Going to let someone else chime in since I'm not sure - I can't enable it since the security code is wrong as I mentioned

Hello Inferno,
Yes the only hardware that needs to be installed is this button, which is not expensive. I read, that you just need to modify the coding of the front camera (which is installed with the ACC option) and to code a steering wheel to vibrate (this must work with all servotronic, which is standard on all audi A7). There is another forum where they was trying to do this, but with no success. BTW there is a guide how to enable lane assist on Golf MK7 with ACC installed, so I do not see why would not be possible to enable this feature on Audi A6/A7.

For those of you trying to get tethering working via USB, I did a guide a while back: 3G+ Tethering and Online services (https://thetechycorner.wordpress.com/2015/02/21/mmi-3g-tethering-and-google-earth/). The MR-3040 is a better choice than the 3020.
You also don't need to leave the router powered up all the time, once it caches the maps in your area and route you can power it off.
Hello Nully,
Ok. I have a few questions about your guide. If I understand you right you use you smartphone hotspot and then connect router to wi-fi of your phone (you configured router to wisp mode to enable that). Than you send 3G data through the trendnet USB to Ethernet cable and AMI usb cable to the MMI (which is set to the right gateway settings with the script in your guide), and you now got the online services working. Now if my understanding is right I have these two questions.
1. Why do you need to enable WI-FI in MMI, since you do not get any data via car wi-fi, but through AMI USB.
2. Now I am thinking if I could do this mod, with only use and Android phone and use USB teather and then connect the phone via usb cable to the AMI USB cable. Then enable all setting in green menu and I think that it should also work. what do you think?? This way I would get carging, internet and also functional car wi-fi.

Obviously not the greatest safety idea, but how cool would it be if the night vision camera worked without the lights needing to be on.. anyone have a code for that? :)

regarding the needle sweep, is that possible to enable the background led lights inside the speedo counter for 14 rs7. Or is it an European models only mod?
looks like this

Hi,
Any luck enabling these red segments on speedo? I've got 2015MY EUR-spec A7 and successfully turned on the needle sweep, but no red perimeter light (with cruise enabled, too).
the red segments came with enabling needle sweep on my 2012

Your car is EUR-spec too, right?
When you enable cruise control, does it indicate the set speed with a red perimeter segment?

Yes, and yes :-)

Yes, and yes :-)
Seems like mine has speedo red lights disabled, then. Would you please be so kind to share the long coding string of [17-Instruments] module of your car? Thanks in advance!

1. You don't need to enable the Wifi in MMI. That's just a nice to have.
2. This would not work. MMI only recognizes (has drivers) for certain ethernet chipsets. Your Android phone in USB tether mode would not be recognized by MMI. This is why only certain ethernet USB adapters work. (The right chipset and low enough power draw)

Thank you Nully for your answer. Yes it is cool to have wi-fi on, but it is pointless, because you already can connect to the hotspot from your mobile. Well I will try this one day.
Now another crazy idea! :)
Do you think that it would be possible to enable massage function, if it is not installed from the factory? I have the comfort seats with ventilation and the seats with the massage function is the same. There is only aditional button to turn on the massage on the massage seats. I think that If I could manage to wire some button to the seat and do some coding in vcds that it should work. As I know the massage funktion only uses lumbar support that moves in different directions. Am I right?

Look great. I have the same car. 2016 s7 Daytona Grey with 21" rims black optic. I had 10mm front and 12mm back spacers installed. First week i had it I sheared one of the plastic fender screws off with the tire when it went over a bump.
Took it to Audi, had the other side removed as they are not totally necessary. tire has not touched since. You have that problem? Let me know how you lowered it as i would like to have mine a tad lower as well. have you had any luck doing any bag mods on the new 2016 MMI?
Thanks

I don't think our cars do that... they don't have pressure sensors inside the wheel, instead they measure speed of each wheel and can tell when one is lower than the others based on the diameter of the wheel (as it will spin faster).
