First allroad - already lightly modified

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So my daily driver was a CSG 2014 GTI that we bought brand new. It only has 19,000 miles on it right now. My wife will drive it now until she decides on if she wants to keep it or trade it in.

Here is the list of mods done to the GTI……

Deautokey LED kit / RHO Plate / 35% Tint / GTI seat wrench inserts / Black VW Emblems / Smoked Side Markers / Black Mirror Caps / Neuspeed Pflo / 034 Dogbone Insert / Unibrace UB / Dark Cherry Depo Tails / H&R Sport Springs / H&R Rear Sway Bar 24mm

A few pics of the GTI –

I felt I wanted something a little more practical and with some type of all wheel/four wheel drive but I didn’t really want an SUV. Well after doing some research I felt an Allroad would be a good fit for my needs. So I did a lot of reading on this forum and asked a lot of questions (thanks to all who answered my questions on this small journey……). Back on 04-09-2017 I saw a posting for a Scuba blue 3 hours east of me that has all the common mods done to it already, winter wheels, and cargo box. I really didn’t think much of it as I wasn’t ready to buy anything yet. Well a couple weeks went by and all I could do is keep looking at the ad. I brought up the whole car thing with the wife and we chatted about it and at the same time I reached out to the owner asking questions about the car, mods done to it, etc. The more we chatted about the car the more serious it was getting about buying it. I found one locally just to take it for a test drive and really like it. The next thing you know we are talking $$$$ and doing a PPI on the car. After the PPI cleared I decided to fly out there and pick up the car on 5/11. Had a nice 3 hour drive home on some nice windy roads. That’s my short story and here are the current specs of the Scuba Allroad.

I just did this myself on my '13 allroad.
I ordered the Ziza kit from ECS and had an issue with the reading light LEDs they provided. They replaced them with a different type and they work great now.
You may encounter the same issue. They took care of it with no problems.

    I wrote it up today:

    Nice!

Why does the back look high? Unless it was on uneven surface, i thought H&R drops more than that?

The back does sit 1" higher than the front. I thought I read this somewhere will need to find that post again.

I also have the H&R springs. The rear sits higher. But I heard that if we install the S line shocks, it helps lower it a bit. Can't find the post that says that.

    Yes it does.

On the second link you sent, I was the last person who posted and asked for the part # for the S-line rear shock. No response from anyone as of yet.

Oh sorry I wasn't being sarcastic i just found it interesting that it's named that.

I bet it's sitting higher because of the shocks unbolt the shock bottom and see how it sits on the springs.

That is how he had it in the ad but looking at his paperwork he passed on to me it is labeled fish scale.

What would that tell you if you unbolt the rear shocks?

Unbolting the rear shock will tell us if the shock is bottomed out and holding the car up. If the car gets lower then the shocks are the problem. If it stays the same height then the spring rate is to high.

My rear is a little bit higher with the H&R springs, but I like that look on the Avants.

Those wheels take an already great looking vehicle and make it spectacular. We are spending a few days in your area ---- if lucky -- maybe we get to see this AR in person.

Installed Canyon Run CR-15 and H11 - OSRAM Night Breaker Unlimited fog lights last night.

Hopefully do the OEM Red Start/Stop Button and DeAutoKey LED Reverse and Front Turn signals tonight. Also do some Carista items - Needle sweep, foot well lights, coming home lights, daytime LED brightness, etc.

Also ordered the Alu Kreuz last Friday. I believe this will be it for a while.

You will notice a difference with the CR-15. Great mod. I'm looking at different options for LED reverse lights so post up a review!

In this photo, is that the stock offset of the Rotors (19x9 @ et33), or are there spacers installed?

Hopefully. My drive to work isn't that long but a few places I can test it.

I have all deautokey leds in the GTI and all perform well. Reason I went with them on n the Audi. Great support and they have most replacement bulbs.

I did put in the reverse lights but getting bulb error on left one so need to look at it.

Thinking about it. I did this with the 2014 GTI plastic that was a tad darker grey. Black plasti dip and a clear coat. Turned out perfect for the price and you can't tell as long as you take your time. I just don't know if all the grey parts come off like on the GTI all parts came off so I could still drive and paint at the same time.
