I am saying it still wouldnt help. The issue is not the cavity for the coil pack , its the base of the adapter .

You can use either set without the hold downs. The 1.2 has it recessed for set screws to hold the plate down. If you buy the mk6 ones they hold themselves in pretty much. I had to pull on them hard to get them out yesterday to change the plugs. They have rubber around the outside that keeps in pretty much water tight.

As long as they fit like the stock ones then they're pretty secure, the stock ones in my car have never had a problem with popping out so far.

Just had a misfire this morning so put me down for a set, I'll just pop in one day and pick them up, I wouldn't need anything special like compatible with hold downs cause I don't intend to use them. Do you intend to sell a whole kit, so the coils with the adapters? Any ETA on something like that? I want :)

Anyone have an idea if I could gap Bosch F5DPOR plugs for .04 cause I think they're side fire aren't they?

Correct, maximum spark gap width is limited by the misfire point, but there is no relation betweem knocking and spark gap.

Thanks for the insight on these coils.

My new 06H 905 115 coils arrived today (thanks ECS!) I gapped my NGK 5238's at .040 and the car runs strong with no misfires. Now all I need are the adaptors from Issam for a little piece of mind and I'm golden.

Ya I love these plugs but wouldn't mind trying the larger spark gap and I also hate the copper NGK plugs, just such pains in the ass.

I haven't taken any logs yet but there is certainly a noticeable improvement at idle for my car.

I can take some logs if you guys are interested. I have a few new sets of BKR7E's I can use to take before and after logs. What parameters would you like to see?

"Allthough when we dissected the 2.0T Coil , internally it was the same as a 1.8T unit. I am waiting on getting a 2.8 24V Coil Pack so I can throw up a comparison shot but in the mean time running the 2.0T Coils allow you to run a hotter spark."

Guys, if they are internally the same... what allows these longer coils to run a hotter spark? Just trying to justify the dough i am about to spend.

    Among other thoughts:
Also wondering how these would compare to the okadas.

Having owned both the Okadas and now the 2.0T coils, I can say that I don't feel as much of a "butt-dyno" improvement with the 2.0T coils as I did with the Okadas. The performance improvement for the Okadas was well documented by Winston through actual dyno runs. http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...38-spark-plugs

That said, I'm not going to dyno my car for a $20 ($80 total) coil purchase but I can confirm that the occasional misfire I was having with my rev. R coils is gone and I am running temperature 9 plugs now gapped at .040 (I will experiment with a .045 this weekend)

One could argue my rev R coils were going bad (roughly 6 months old and less than 3k miles on them, not likely), maybe its a placebo effect. But it seems there is more than enough anecdotal evidence to show these are an improvement over the 1.8T coils.

anybody have ideas for rubber/foam gaskets to seal the cover to the adaptor?

or could you make a depression on the bottom of the adaptor for a large o-ring to seat? :)
With the adapter flange extensions Issam is providing, the coil pack will use the existing ribs on the coil pack body and seal on the ID of the adapter. If you want to seat the adapter to the valve cover, use some RTV between the adapter and the vavle cover, or cut out some foam gaskets.

The only way to increase the gap on the F5DPOR plug is to carefully file the ground electrode shorter. I will do this with my F5DPOR plugs.

True, but unless the plug gap is increased to ~.040", the full benifits of the 2.0TFSI coil packs won't be realized.

Regardless of the lack of measured empirical evidence so far, the results are consistent with the fact that the direct fuel injection engines need very high levels of spark energy to reliably provide ignition of the fuel in the cylinder. Especially when running in the lean burn stratified charge/non homogeneous fuel/air mixture mode.

At least you won't be setting yourself up for disappointment. I don't know how well your butt dyno works. However, my butt dyno is a finely calibrated, sensitive measuring instrument, providing reliable, repeatable and accurate data output real time, with the calibration according to NIST and ISO measurement standards.

Both the shipping and billing address the same? Sometimes if it's not the same it will cause issues. Or the site just could have been having technical problems.

No direct print outs. Only data storage for later download.
