Im looking to drop my b6 s4, but not drastically, just enough to eat some wheel well gap, more front than back. something like a 1.2-1.5 front and .5-1 in the rear, without coilovers anyone have any suggestions???

    Springs?

You won't get as much drop as you want in the front, but it will take care of some wheel gap.

I went with H&R. After they settled + 10mm spacers front 15mm spacers rear... perfect wheel gap/flush.

    Get some spacers homie

Would you recommend H/R Springs for an Avant?

Is it only me or are there other folks out there that really dislike the term stance?

    Cheers,

heh heh... ive been meaning to get some spacers. i run another set of wheels for the summer that are ET35 which is almost flush with the fenders. was gonna put them on today but ended up just being lazy.

not sure about any difference in suspension from a sedan to an avant. but I would recommend the H&R springs. it's a good setup with a nice set of konis or bilstein shocks. not a fan of coilovers.

the ride is surprisingly good. it is only alittle harsher than the stock setup (which is pretty firm as it is). i'm happy with them

There is a difference between avant/sedan I believe. The spring rates are different in the rear (and possibly front) I believe

You're not alone. I hate it when people use it to define their car in regards to its aesthetics and cosmetics.

Ah, ok. I wasn't too happy with my Koni C/Os when I had the B5, it rode too stiff for me. I'm looking for an OEM-like ride and have jumped back and forth between C/Os with dampening or springs.

Got the H&R's for my B7 too, good springs. I think the front should be a tad lower however.

H&R springs (30mm drop all round), standard shocks, 18x8 ET35 wheels and 235/40 tires.. Not quite flush but big difference from standard. Going to be fitting 10mm spacers rear only in about an hour, so I'll see how it looks after that.. You could do the B5 perch cup mod on the front to bring it down a bit more?

h&r`s and you`ll be happy, but if you go that route I have two words for you " upper Adjustable control arms" in the front , springs are cheap invest in the arms and save your self some money in tires , i did the springs , not being able to adjust the camber I went thru 2 sets of tires in less than 20k thats close to $2000.00, get the springs they work fine with the stock shocks for street use , the shocks wont blow or anything , but get the ACA`s your car will drive better and your tires will last longer with proper wheel alignment!!

You will like the setup of the springs alot better. I have FK C/O's on my B5.5 Passat and it rides like crap on messed up roads. It's down in Florida now and rides good on those roads, but the gf doesn't like the height... so I'll be switching back to a "cup kit" style or OEM setup for that car.
