    Nogaro Nitrous Build Thread!!!

First off this is kind of just a start/place holder. It's not supposed to be 100% done. Hell, It never will be. So, with the being said let it begin!

I live in the Salt Lake City area in Utah I found my Nogaro S4 avant MT in Houston about a year ago. Flew down there and bought it and drove it back. Amazing drive back by the way. When i first got the car I did a bunch of preventative stuff that needed to be done. I got all the fluids changed, put in a K&N filter, did the control arm bushings and a bunch of other misc stuff. The wiper fluid froze in my garage because it apparently just had distilled water in it from being in texas. So the pump had to be done. Anyway when I bought it it has the APR tune, snub mount and APR exhaust and downpipes. Everything else down to the wheels where 100% stock. In the past (about a year) I have done H&R springs, miro 111 wheels with DWS continental rubber, 034 RSB, CF vinyl trim, ecodes with morimoto h1 projectors, bulbs and ballasts, powder coated the valve covers. The valve covers still don't look the best even with a couple pounds of powder on them just because the aluminum is Japanese lawn chair quality all bubbly. On to the more important stuff. The car is at about 106k on the original clutch. After a really great summer with the car having put about 8k on the car without it being my daily driver the clutch was pretty dead even when i bought it. Anyway I raced an X5 didn't launch the car or anything but the clutch was gone after that little endeavor. At this point the car is in the garage because it just vibrates and will not hold the littlest amount of power. So I saved up a little bit of money and went wild. I now have the JHM nitrous kit, stg 4 clutch and flywheel, CVs for the front axles, WOT box and most of an elevel kit. Still working on ordering the center diff and the track trans mount. Anyway, everything will be going on in the next few months. My garage is very very small and there is a lot of snow here so i have not started any of it. Once I find somewhere to get started ill post up pictures (the good shit) I put a couple of pictures below just to spice things up a little bit and oh ya i have an 18z kit half way put together.

    ^when I first got it.

Anyway, thanks for reading. Ill take pictures when i start ripping it up.

You ought to go ahead and just step it up to the 1R clutch

......then you wont need that Stg4 setup and I'll just take it off your hands for you

No joke i bought this setup 2 days before they came out with all the new shit. This was the best clutch they had at the time. Endlinks are going in right now.... i have a bunch more parts as well. billet motor mounts, track trans mount, lower control arms, trio package, trans fluid and a new coolant temp sensor (someone zip tied the existing one on there).

I'm not kidding about that either........My car is in about the same state as yours. I pulled the trans last week and am just waiting on a new clutch, fw, & pp. I had one I was just about to buy from another member until he told me he'd already sold it to somebody else.

If you decided to go with the 1R I'd take the stg4 clutch in a heartbeat

The DPs are welded to the cat back?

Any way you can tip it to get it out?

Its right there on the edge. I could maybe if I got long enough needle nose. But yes my exhaust is all one piece back to the rear axle. I picked the whole thing up and tried tapping it on the ground and that did not work. I should get new exhaust because this shitty APR exhaust is cracked in a few places but... ive spent 7k in car parts in the last 6 months so that will have to wait.

Oh gotcha. I would definitely try and remove it so it doesn't clog a muffler.

The sketchy continues. 2/3 8mm allen bolts that hold the motor mount supports to the actual block weren't tight at all. Got the motor mounts out though so all is well. Looks like i didnt really need new ones but 034 billet ones are going on. Oh well I'm sure the new ones will still be better.

Nice thread Jeffrey. It's a damn good thing this car ended up in the right person's hands or it might have fell apart at the seams! lol

Thanks a lot man. Flushed the coolant system today and fixed the temp sensor. Put a new sensor in while I was at it. Discovered that the wrong o ring was used. Got the transmission jacked up. Just waiting on my power bleeder to get here to bleed the clutch.

More of a I'm lazy kind of thing. That and I want to bleed it with the slave out not with the trans bolted on. I've never done any of this before so it's already a huge adventure. I've never even bled brakes before. I'm trying to make everything as easy as possible.

just make sure to take JHM's advice and raise the rear of the car a bit higher than the front as it'll make getting out that last bit of air much easier.

first time I did it on my 3L my slave pretty much blew up and spit fluid everywhere. Bleeding the new slave wasn't too bad for my first time doing it, but it did involve my hands getting covered in fluid and some of it dripping all over my face/mouth...........gotta love doing everything on jack stands

Dammit thanks for the reminder. I'm going to have to jack the back of the car up further. This could get a little sketchy with the motor just on a cross support.

So here's an update. Did the trio besides for the shifter itself. Got the transmission in and the motor mounts in. Crushed the bone in my finger in the process. The transmission swung down and crushed my finger between the motor. Heard the bone crunch. It's unbelievably difficult mounting a trans with one hand. Anyway hopefully the car will roll this weekend

oh and one more thing... don't buy the harbor freight trans jack. It's a $250 pile of jenky shit.

....shit, I've been using the even crappier $65 jack from harbor freight

that being said I have heard the same thing from others here on AZ saying that they weren't able to get the trans back on with the HF jack. I was happy I was able to get it done on my 3.0, hopefully my S4 should be back together around the same time this weekend.

good work man, can't wait to see this car going through the bottles!

Ya the one i have is a little bit bigger.
There where two issues I had with it. First issue was that even in the fully down position the transmission would be way too high to roll it out. I had to transfer it off and onto my crawler while still under the car. I got the car probably a good 16" - 2' off the ground as well. The larger issue was that there really was no good way to hold the trans on the jack. I used straps but the trans still slid around way too much. Besides for that there was way to much play in the whole unit. There was no stiffness to it at all. That made it very difficult to push it back on. Third issue was that the top part where you set the trans was too wide and kept running into the bottom of the car where the heat shielding is. anyway I got the trans back in so it worked well enough just not something I would buy again. That being said the motor support they sell works great. I've had my motor on that thing for probably a month now without issues. However, as a precaution probably 90% of the time i put a jack with a block of wood under the oil pan to support a good amount of the weight of the motor.

yeah I had to use a similar method. I've been using an old skateboard for a few months to move around my trans. It's a very sketchy maneuver to move the trans from the jack to the skateboard. Once on the trans jack I have to use my other jack to support the back end of the trans and keep it level. JimmyBones has said the same thing about the HF "SkyHook" being a great product to hold the engine in place. Mine motor currently just has a jack and block of wood underneath.

Getting your trans back in with more/less one hand is pretty impressive.
Keep up the good work and we'll see who gets their car back on its wheels first.

Ive heard of the skate board lol. Hey it works right? I used my second jack as well. Worked well to angle it. As far as the trans goes... it was about half way on already. I when the trans dropped i have to lift the whole thing with one arm that arm is a little fucked up from that. Anyway, I weigh about 150lbs at 6' 3" so lifting a 350lb trans is pretty tough lol
