+1 for the 034 Motor Mounts. I went with them since my OEM ones went out at 38k miles and didn't want to replace them again in 2 years. For being solid vs the OEM fluid filled ones, it's a barely noticeable difference in ride. Well worth the extra longevity IMO. One small thing to note, it may show a soft code, but nothing to actually worry about flashing on the dash or anything.

I need help locating a part I cannot seem to find. Because I don’t know the exact terminology. It’s the front license plate covers for my RS7. They were missing on purchase and I’d like to buy used or new. Any help is appreciated. 2021 C8

the 2018 has launch, i have a 2018. Depending on tune vs stock will determine rpm launch point.

I know the 2018 have launch control lol

With my 2015 i was able to load the drivetrain like the RS7 transmission (ZF) without using the launch control.

    Like this

With my 2018 i can't do that, i need to use the dumb audi launch control.

They have completely different launch control, because of the transmission

With my 2015 S6 i was able to do like the RS7 by not using the Audi launch control and load the transmission, now with the 2018, if i try to do the same thing it does not work, it cut the throttle.

Just got a new air box.

Is this grey piece of foam just packing material or is this meant to stay in the air box?

Thanks, I figured as much as there’s a little plastic piece kind of holding it in but it also doesn’t seem like a permanent type of material.

    Thanks for the info

I've done a few oil changes on my 2012 3.0T A6 and only remove/replace about 5L, but everywhere I read online says 6-7L. I suction the oil through the dipstick and get it low enough that the dip stick does not show an oil level. I used a Liqui Moly engine flush after removing & before filling oil and was able to suction what looked like the engine flush out. I do not burn/lose enough oil between my 6-7k oil change interval to be noticeable on the dip stick. Is this normal or do I need to try draining the oil from the below the car next time to make sure I get a good oil change? Surely I don't have 1-2L worth of sludge in the engine and oil pan? Bought the car about 3 years ago with 40k miles on it currently at 80k miles. Service records looked good for a 40k mile car when I bought it.

I use a vac as well but let it suck until the thing is sucking air. Put about 7Q back in and the MMI and my added dipstick both indicate full. I suspect you are not evacuating all the oil if you are following the MMI screen.

For the 3.0 engine the vac will remove slightly more oil than then drain plug because its installed into a boss on the bottom of the pan so there is a slight cup at the bottom of the pan that will not drain but will vac out. There are some pan applications that the drain plug goes into the bottom corner of the pan and those pans will drain more by pulling the plug. Below is a pic of the 3.0 pan. As you can see the level indicator and plug are raised up off the bottom of the pan and will never allow the little lake at the bottom to drain. The suction hose will get down into that lake.

I verify it's empty with a dipstick and not the MMI. My first upgrade on the car was an actual dip stick after overfilling due to this issue. I make sure to pull as much fluid as possible using the extractor. It is definitely sucking air. I have started raising and lowering the tube to make sure its not curled into the pan somehow. I guess I'll need to get under the car next time to see if draining the fluid gets an additional 1-2 L or if there is a giant dent in my oil pan.

If you pull the pan plug make sure to replace the crush washer. You are gonna need triple squares to remove the belly pan as well if you don’t have those sockets yet.

When I dropped the drain plug about 2L came out. Guess I'm going to start planning on oil changes taking a little longer unless I figure out something I'm doing wrong with the extractor.

A pro tip i’ve learned is jacking up the side opposite of the drain plug (passenger iirc) and it will help remove a little extra excess that the vac/drain plug cant get to

Got some 21x10.5 et34 BC forged wheels on the way. Going to run 285/30 Michelin P4S for summer but being in Middle Tennessee I need some all seasons (or winters) to run for 3-4 months when it gets to cold for summers. On the S4 I would just run Michelin Pilot all seasons but There are no options for all season at 285/30(or even 275/30) other than some budget tires. There are some options at 295/30. Questions: anyone running 295/30 on 21x10.5 wheel? Will 295/30 work on a 21x10.5 et 34? Rubbing? Any other options/sizes/options I’m missing? Thanks

The 21" selection is a little rough, 295/30 is the lesser evil to 275/35, which is too tall for any lowering. Maybe find some 20" for the cooler times of the year?

Is there anything that can be done coding wise to turn the boost down on the power steering?

Has anyone dug into the shifter, specifically in manual mode, in order to switch the up and down shift direction?

Was hoping someone would say the 275/35 would work great because they make the Michelin’s all seasons in that size. Running 20” might be the way to go if I can’t find a solution with the new BCs. Guess I need to sort out how evil the 295/30s are. Mixed reports now with some saying they are perfect and others saying they will rub with every bump

I’ve had my front bumper off several times and never had to have the ACC alignment done after. Don’t switch on ignition if your ACC sensors are unplugged.

I have two questions about tranny fluid drain and fill.

I just did my tranny fluid and also center diff fluid. Drained old tranny fluid, took pan out, put new filter and and pumped fluid until it dribbled out. Then started the car, ran through the gears and pumped fluid in while running until it dribbled out again. It took just under 4L, is this correct? Grant it the fluid temp was 54C (Not the 35C - 45C Audi calls for but Mercedes master tech I work with says they filled over temp all the time because you can't let a waiter car sit around to let fluid cool).

Also I was wondering about clutch adaptations. I tried performing the "delete system specific adaptations" under basic settings but OBDeleven wouldn't let me run the basic setting. I found a thread saying you can hold the gas and put car into ACC mode, hold for 15 seconds, then turn off and release gas to reset adaptations but does this only apply to older Audis or the C7 and on? I did the gas pedal procedure and my adaptations are at 0 except for I think Clutch Pack D which is at 1. Here were my old adaptations

Bumping this. I'm replacing my transmission and have been checking LKQ and LifeTimeAudiParts. There are three transmission codes that can go on these cars with the 3.0T: NNT, NEU, and NXT. What are the differences with these three transmission codes?

    I have a 2012 A6 with the 3.0T.

Mine comes with the NEU and when I look on LKQ the listing page for the tranny I want says "(AT), 3.0L (transmission ID NEU)" but once I get to checkout it says "Transmission/Transaxle Assembly AT; (3.0L), TRANSMISSION ID NXT)

I didn't know if these transmissions were just interchangeable or not. I want to get it correct before pulling the trigger since I'll be swaping my TCU over to my new tranny to keep my 034 tune and also not have to deal with CP.

I'll call LKQ Friday to see what the deal is between the mismatched transmission codes on the listing vs checkout but wanted to check about the tranny designations. Maybe the gear ratios are slightly different or something more like valve body and solenoids (as I know ZF did update the solenoids for the 8HP partway through and they're not interchangeable)

Depends on what you are after. FCP Euro is a good source and they will sell non OEM stuff as well. They have done a decent job of sourcing parts from the supplier of the OEM stuff but in the original packaging without the 4 ring surcharge. Example: OEM front rotors for the A7 are $250 each from Audi and are supplied by Zimmerman, you can buy the Zimmerman rotor from FCP for $175. Or at least that was last years pricing.

FCP also has a 100% return replacement policy even for used fluids, you just have to pay shipping to them. I saw that recently ECS Tuning has adopted that policy as well.

Questions you thought were too dumb to ask

Saw this on here earlier(2019) but there was not a clear solution(besides full console replacement under warranty): my volume knob in my RS7 behaves erratically sometimes. I’ll turn 2 clicks and it’ll jump way up, or go way down, in a random direction. Also the mute/power off function doesn’t work if I push on it. It’s just stiff. Is there any replacement part numbers people might know of? I’m guessing I might need the knob as well as the piece the knob fits into. - SV

Just an update to this. We swapped my NEU for the NXT transmission, while transferring the TCU to the NXT. So an NEU TCU on an NXT transmission. No problems at all for those wondering and wanting to avoid CP.
