Anyone Used H&R Springs To Lower A RS7?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
My 2016 RS7 will be here soon, so I've been shopping. My car will have the sport suspension and I'd like a moderate drop . I reviewed the old threads and I know some have done KW coil-overs but I'd prefer not to use them.

The Tire Rack lists these Sport Springs fitting a 2016. Does anyone have any experience here? I'd like to know how difficult the install it is (for the shop) and does the new height require any ECU/TCU reprogramming.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Thread revival! Was hoping someone had used these springs and could give feedback vs the KW HAS in regards to the drop and ride handling.

I know this is a very old thread, but does anyone have a review of their experience with the RS7/DRC & H & R lowering springs?

I have a set sitting in the attic that I want to put on. I've heard that you can do it without removing or discharging the DRC but would like some input as well.

I took off the OEM springs and added these from KW to the DRC - didn’t change out DRC.

Btw - willing to sell the OEM ones for cheap if anyone’s interested. Think they only had a few hundred miles on them since I pulled them off a new RS7 about a year ago.

Lowering springs lower the car making it look more aggressive.

I would love to know as well, because once it is lowered I do t care or never plan to change the ride height again.

    Anyone ?

I ordered them today. Install is sched for 2nd of Nov. I’ll write a review once done. Price is reduced for the springs right now so not a huge investment if things go south.
My only real concern is if my wheels will rub once lowered. ADV5.2 M.V2 21x9 I don’t know the offset (hub shows +18) but they have a more pronounced offset than factory. With DRC it says springs lower an estimated 1.2” front and .8” rears. Here are pics of wheel well gap heights stock.

I have mine installed and noticed that the rear sits a little higher than the front. Did a little research and found that others with DRC on other cars (RS4 etc.) have removed a plastic spacer when installing the springs and am wondering if that is needed on the RS7 as well as I did see this spacer when installing. I also added SPC adj. control arms to adjust the camber. I am running 21x10.5 with 275/30/21 and have not noticed any rubbing but I have not driven very hard yet. The 275s do have a little stretch on them so that helps out some.

Anyone Used H&R Springs To Lower A RS7?

Update. My modification woes continue. Car looks amazing lowered. But the 1.2” drop up front with my after market wheels is causing it to rub pretty bad on the front fenders. Removed that little screw on the inside of the wheel well which helped but still catching the fender. Taking it tomorrow to roll front fenders. Praying this fixes it or it’s back to stock setup.
I did pull the green bump stop or spacer from rear springs. Drop was as advertised by H&R 1.2” front and .8” rear

Can't tell your tire size, 275/30-21? If you're rubbing in the front you can certainly add in some negative camber.

Anyone Used H&R Springs To Lower A RS7?

Yes. I’m on factory size tires with the ADV1’s. Much more aggressive offset. After spring instal he did an alignment. It’s around 1.9degrees or so up front. Basically max with stock control arms. I could throw money at it and do control arms or swap to coil overs but for the money I’m thinking if rolling the fenders doesn’t work go back to stock.

Did rolling the fenders ever fix the rubbing. Current set up on my 15 RS7 275x35x20 with H&R Springs. Hate the rub on front fenders.

I didn’t roll them. Swapped to KW height adjustable springs. I would still like them rolled so I can go lower but haven’t found anyone to do it.

Did you have to do anything with the DRC system (i.e. drain and refill)? Or just hot swap the springs?

I've seen the KW instructions that seem to indicate swapping springs while maintaining hydraulic connects straight forward... is this actually the case?
Did a similar swap on previously owned RS4 and it was tough to avoid stressing hydraulic lines.

I had a shop put on H&R lowering springs initially followed by KW height adjustable springs. Neither shop removed or messed with the dynamic ride hydraulic lines (RS7) The KW instructions above show how it’s done. Just remember to remove the front springs perch if you use KW and remove the spacer on the back spring perch. I’m pretty sure I’ve posted about that and included pics in this thread or another about the headache that caused me. Good luck
