Looking To Trade My Mercedes E500 For A Stage 3 S4 In So. Cal

I was not sure where to post this so I hope its ok. I have a very nice 2003 Mercedes E500 that I am looking to trade for a B5 Stage 3 S4. It is tastefully lowered on full KW adjustable race suspension on 20's with new tires and exhaust. It is a very rare Jade Black (very dark metallic black green). I have a lot of money into this car and am looking for somebody that wants a reliable good looking car that doesn't want to give their own car away. I am in So. I know where you are coming from, my last F21 B5 had things go wrong with it all the time (heater core, second gear shift collar, etc.) but if you have the money to fix it, why not lol. I have had no trouble with this car at all (the V8's are pretty reliable). I drive it 20 miles to work and back everyday and is a pretty comfortable ride not to mention intimidating to a lot of people. I also am very impressed with the handling, that suspension handles like a race car. Anyway, maybe somebody who is tired of fixing their car will like mine and trade. I will even add up to $500 cash for the right car as well as travel half way to Nor. Cal. Thanks

My car is still available for trade and still as reliable as ever. There are three of four Stage 3 B5's in California and Vegas between $7000 and $8000. I am really close to selling this car but not ready to let it go for less than $7500. Check engine lights and minor repairs are ok and I will be responsible for the smog. I cannot add any money if the car needs work. The Mercedes has no check engine lights and will pass smog with no issues. Please no sarcastic replies, I know its a Mercedes but I bought it for a reason. I can now afford the upkeep on a B5.

E500's aren't worth anything here in Michigan. They KBB for about $4k, I wouldn't trade a stock S4 for that lol.

Yeah, what is the KBB for a B5 S4? KBB also does not buy or sell cars, it is just a reference guide for uneducated buyers (mostly women) that do not know anything about cars lol. I would love to see a KBB dealer lol.

I just kbb'd my car for the first time ever just cause I was curious.. 3,848 in excellent condition, hence why I don't ever really look at kbb. I just do some market research and see what different cars are sellin at/mods/condition, etc.

Looks like e500s around me are selling anywhere from 5-8k so I would say you're in the right price range given what you have done to it.

Thank you CJ, somebody that knows what they are talking about. Turbo Nerd, you also might want to take a look at your local "Detroit Metro" Craigslist and look at the market value of E500 Mercedes. None of them have the upgraded suspension which is huge on these cars. Also, can somebody have a moderator delete this thread, it is posted in the wrong section and is more trouble then it is worth.

When I paid 8k for my S4, KBB said to pay $3500. Had trouble explaining that one to the Mrs.

OP, I think at this point your best bet will be to turn that car into cash and transition that way. It is a beautiful car, good luck.

Kbb is for insurance companies, they use the low value for pay out and the book with the high calue for setting premiums.

Personally i would never trade my car for a out of waranty mercedes, they drive terribly and unless its brand new garunteed something is broken, paint is peeling off the dash, key is sawing away at the tumblers, etc etc its always something dumb and that would only happen on a benz

Your better off selling the merc to Some kid so he can be hood rich and use the money to buy a b5 s4

Well, you are half right. KBB is used by insurance companies but if you really want reality, take a look at NADA (what the dealers use). As far as workmanship and reliability, the higher end V8 Mercedes has proven to be better made and a lot more reliable then my last B5 S4. The inside of my car is immaculate with literally no wear and nothing is peeling. The paint is at about 90% with a couple rough areas but nothing has peeled except for the front bumper clear coat (still not bad for an almost 14 year old car). It is also a lot easier to work on and does not need the motor to be pulled for an oil leak. Everybody thinks there is a catch as to why I am getting rid of my car but there is not. There are pros and cons to each car and unfortunately one of the cons on the Mercedes is torque.

Since its my car I can comment on it without offending anybody (hopefully): When I first saw the car I did not care for the look but it did grow on me. The fenders really kinda blend in after seeing for a couple of days in a row (looks normal to me now). It really could be worse. Maybe one of these days, I will find a way to match the rears and even it out lol.. We will also say that it is not a Tial 605 car anymore and it is slightly more then half an RS car now ;).
