New B8 Quattro owner. Opinions please...

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hi everyone...I just bought a 2010 A4 Quattro and am looking to go stg2 with it. I'm not a newb to cars, forums or turning my own wrenches. That being said I am looking for advice/opinions on parts to use and your favorite tuners. I live in SoCal so I think that I should have some good options.

So please chime in on the following please...

    1. Parts: intakes, exhausts, downpipes, intercoolers

    2. Tunes: who you like, why? If in CA, recommended tuners or speedshops

    3. Anything else that might help: problems, install tips, ect...

    Thanks...cheers

lots of info on here if you search. tough crowd here too so I wouldn't expect to be spoon fed with answers to your questions above.

go HFC and stage 2 (uni, GIAC, APR, REVO) all good options. I think APR is having a sale at the moment. don't waste your time/$ on an intake.

How many miles does your car have? If you are under 80,ooo miles, I would find out whether the stage 1 or stage 1 and 2 oil consumption tests have been performed. You may end up with a rebuilt engine. I would wait to tune the car until you get that checked out.

As for California tuner shops, we have quite a few.
    EuroCode in Torrance, CA
    AU Tuning in Huntington Beach
and a few others. I personally go to AU Tuning. They have a clean shop, friendly people and great work and great prices.

Check out the So Cal regional page for local stuff.

Thanks for the quick replies. I figured someone's opinion would be to use the search button and that's fine...never hurts to ask.

As for the A4 I new the guy who owned it before and it's already had the engine pretty much rebuilt by Audi. It was burning oil a lot...since the rebuild he put 10k miles on it and it's running fine. It has 52,000mi on it.

Welcome to the B8 section! Looks like most of your questions were addressed, aside from one. Intakes don't do anything for our cars, the stock setup is pretty solid. An aFe dry filter will make a big difference though. As for questions or issues, I just put together a buyers guide thread which should have a bunch of information for you to check on before you start with modding.

    1. Best intake k&n. Don't bother with exhaust, downpipes, or intercoolers. K&n is all you need for performance and that nice whistle.
    2. 100% go with Stasis for your tune
    3. No other problems.

There is some great advice on this site.

Gotta take the joking and hazing in stride and have fun with it. This is a smart ass, but fun and knowledgable group.

Performance best bang for buck: HFC/Test pipe and stage 2 tune. I would go with APR when they have their sale where you can get a fully loaded ECU tune for $600.
In your case since you are in SoCal, consider an intercooler to prevent heat soak and keep that performance consistant
Every other mod past these adds only minimal increases until you go stage 3

Lol!!! On the K&N and no D/P or exhaust!!! I came from the Subaru community...over 3000 posts on NASIOC and about 1500 on legacy gt.com. I DO appreciate the input guys.

I was planning on a full turbo back setup and tune. Some better tires and upgrade rotors and pads when the time comes.

Biggest question do you have a warranty because you can say bye bye if you mod your engine.

People have found other than the cat, exhaust is not restrictive so it is not a performance upgrade really, just for the nice sound.
Eurocode tuning has several suspension related upgrades (Sway bars, drivetrain stabilizer) that are well reviewed handling upgrades.

For the cat, you can get a HFC and that brings you to a stage 2 tune with everything else 100% stock. You will need to try to get O2 spacers to work so you can pass CA emissions, and you'll need the tune version that does not turn off the O2 CEL. Some have found this problematic.
testpipe is smelly and don't think there is any way you can pass CA emissions.

I would recomment afe dry drop in and a turbo inlet hose. Then go hfc and tune it. Best mods for power.

    Is it sline?

    Once again....thanks for the input.

It is not a s-line, I wish! I need something for a fun DD that if need be my wife can drive, (she has her own b7 a4 Quattro) and can't drive a stick. I like to think I got a pretty good deal on this car and it did come with the "sport" package (seats, steering wheel, ect...). I do really like the seats.

One of my friends also recommended Stasis because it is supported by audis warranty. But I am curious, how are the a4s doing with apr's tunes?

I was kidding...stasis is out of business. Don't see many issues with APR tunes, especially since they are flashed via OBDII now and you don't have to worry about crappy installers frying your ECU.
