especially if the other quarter panel is damaged, but for some reason insurance here always trys fixing hard hits like that, and ends up with a bigger bill than expected and totals it eventually. I see your in MI too

The passenger rear quarter is buckled too (looks like reflections in the photo above, but it's buckled). I've been on the phone with the adjuster a couple of times, and methodically walked him through some observations since the collision: MMI / Bluetooth is messed up, smoke was coming from inside B-pillar right after impact, strange noise coming from center stack (see video above), and the car was launched from the roadway down an embankment and slid about 50 yards through the ditch, hitting God-knows-what sort of rocks, ruts, stumps, etc. along the way (check the underside thoroughly, please).
Thanks for the tip on "Level 2" adjuster, Ubiquitous. I'll work with the current guy, and if he comes back with a lowball repair estimate I will definitely escalate.
We really appreciate all of the well wishes, folks. My wife is a little worse off than I am right now but thanks to Audi we survived!
