they must have switched to gray/gunmetal/whatever this color is. My fronts and rears are both gray and the incorrect set of rotors I bought before getting the correct rear rotors were also gray. I would have rather had black.

Since there was existing paint I wasn't trying to take it down to bare metal but rather just make it smooth. If I were to do it again, I'd probably go with 120 grit to start then 220 for final sand. Otherwise, sand it down, spray it down with brake clean, wire brush the hard to reach areas, final sand, wire brush again, final spray down then dry with compressed air.

One run or drip can ruin it all. The color will build up quickly. I only used 1/2 of 1 can of the caliper paint. Definitely no need for 2.

Painting:

light coat color
10 minute drying
light coat color
10 minute drying
medium coat color
15 minute drying
light coat clear
10 minute drying
light coat clear
10 minute drying
medium coat clear
4 hours drying (Over night would be best)

Carefully reassemble and enjoy. Don't plan on washing them for a week to be extra safe.

Looks great! For anyone who doesn't want to spray or tape off as much, the G2 brush on kits work really well (you can also spray them if you choose).

Thanks, a LONG time ago on my first few Audi's I had used the Dupli-Color brush on caliper paint kit and it was great. I don't know if i did it wrong or they changed the formula but it came out TERRIBLE. You could see all the brush strokes and it was awful. Best of luck to anyone, either way is pretty easy.

Got my MMI hard drive replaced with an SSD over the weekend. All in all only took about 2 hours, large fraction of that being cloning the old disk. Worked perfectly and now I don't have to worry about the drive failing like I think the old one was starting to do.

They sure do look good and look like they'll stop the boat. One would think they'd be similar to other 2pc rotors, but any idea what the weight difference is?

I did not weigh them.

I emptied out the car, now that Ive bedded them and heat cycled them, so Ill try to get 60-0 runs today.

We had a mech emergency last night, and I didnt leave the shop until well after midnight and was exhausted to try and get it done.

Was told best fit is 265/30/21

I only have the factory lower air suspension model
The black car owner told me he’s riding
Rims VFS 2 21’/10.5/et30
Wheels 265/30R/21’

I was told 265 would’t work need 275 but I dont want any rubbing but also dont want my wheels sticking out from fenders want it inline just like the black one

I got them on eBay. They sell them on ECS Tuning $$$, but I’m cheap. You can get the real OEM ones from the sellers shipping from Lithuania. It’s slow shipping, but worth the wait. Search for Audi R8 Oil cap and Porsche 911 Coolant Cap.

The R8 and Porsche coolant caps don’t click shut on the C7 reservoir. I don’t personally know if it makes a difference but the OE does click shut. I’ve put the same Porsche coolant cap on my RS4 and it does click shut. I switched to a black A8 coolant cap and recently switched to Racingline coolant cap that also clicks.

I actually like Audi's grey, if it is Nardo Grey. Silver definitely not as it's super bland and boring but Nardo Grey really shows the bodylines well and its a deep grey which I like. I don't really see many Nardo Greys and when I do they're always S/RS version of the car which is an "if you know, you know" color.

Tried out a duckbill/CSL style carbon lift wing. When I got my rear diffuser the whole set up was this rear lift plus sides and a front diffuser but the front and sides have winglets which aren't my style.

Shipped out of Houston within a few days in a Karbel box so who know where these are being made. There will be other sellers available too, Alibaba of course will have some cheaper options. My original is like OE no overlap and I know there has been another one that rides over the line too but I can never tell how much of a kick up the other version is.

Zimmermann rotors and Akebono pads all around. Wanted to end it all when the front driver set screw for the rotor stripped out. Drilled the head of the screw out and then ran to Lowes and got an extractor kit just for it to snap IN the screw. Had to go back to get a refund and get an Irwin extractor set that didn't work since the material of the previous extractor was too hard. Ended up chiseling where the extractor and screw were sticking out so the hub surface was smooth. 7 - 8hr job but the brakes are A LOT better than the eco pads and worn rotors from the previous owner.

I have not had those set screws for probably 50,000 miles now. Maybe 1 day I will replace them. Just don't have the eff to give about replacing them even though I have new ones on the work bench.

This weekend installed another maxton lip since old one was broken, also touched up the crash bar so it looks black again and not full of chips.

I bought a 3-piece rear deck spoiler, but debating if I should paint it sepang blue and then have it wrapped in piano black to match the maxton design front/side/rear bumper side splitter. Black/red supercharged emblems. Not sold on how they look, but I like how they match the calipers. I can always go for black V6T badges or plastidip the existing chrome badges.

Also, plastidipped the grill Quattro black. My emblem blackout and dechroming is complete!
