    UPDATE: 8-7-13.

    Good news and Bad news. Both in the same to us though!

    The new found power of the Carbon Clean and intake spacers made the clutch slip on hard high rpm shifts. This is not a surprise since the B8 S5 (V8 & 3.0T) and the B8 S4 from what we have seen and heard both have a weak stock clutch anyways. So if we weren't pumped already to upgrade it would be bad news, now we can get our Lightweight Flywheel and Stage 4 clutch in this bad boy. We have had these parts in development and testing for over 2 years now, buying this in house car has been a great motivator to get everything to market. So I guess it is really not bad news, good news to us and to anyone needing an upgrade as well.

    That surprises me abut your clutch, my S5 is supercharged and the stock clutch is fine, although no launches or quick shifting and my car has been APR charged for 3 years now.

    I'd be very interested in the new clutch you have to offer as it can only be a matter of time.

    Do you drive aggresively? We are always a little overboard with our stuff to help test OEM and our parts to be prepared for all scenarios for our customers. If you check out our youtube page you will see what I am talking about. We beat the crap out of our stuff so customers don't have to. Unless they want to of course.

    Mine slides on very fast shifts or power shifts. We normally don't see this even on stock clutches with the B6-B7 S4 or B7 RS4 unless they have high mileage.

    The really odd thing is that we got my trans out yesterday and the clutch and flywheel look to be replaced within the last 10k miles. They have the updated PN on the flywheel and the Pressure plate and disc have the Audi reman stamp on them. Just a bunch of disc powder from me beating on it. We don't even have our test pipes or tune on it yet.

    Here is a pic of my stock updated stuff that must have been replaced by the previous owner.

    UPDATE 8-9-13: History of our lightweight flywheel that has been in testing since 2011 and now ready for release.

    In this post I will be sharing pics of the prototyping from 2011, the manufacturing process and the install on our in house car. After 2 years of selling and installing these quietly and verifying durability, longevity, etc. we are ready to start selling these flywheels and clutch kits publicly. We take pride in not selling prototypes to the public instead we take our time and use due diligence prior to public release here on Audizine. We have another batch rolling off of the CNC lathe and mill next week!     SECTION 1
    Prototyping and original V1 design in which we drilled out the rivets on the OEM unit and reused the lower half. In 2011 we only replaced the upper heavy dual mass cast iron portion of the flywheel with a JHM built aluminum piece (most measure in at 29lbs plus total from the factory). This was the quick way to get proof of concept for our bearing assembly and overall feel of this flywheel in a car. Since it would not be extremely difficult to duplicate the lower piece at a later date. Proof of concept is always a great start when dealing with a major change in Audi's OEM parts like this 2 piece flywheel which allows the engine to me moved further back in the car for better weight distribution. Previous to the B8 they were all much simpler. An added bonus to getting a product on a car is that it gives us a head start in our long term testing, which we take pride in. We sold about a dozen of them in this configuration with a core charge, which obviously would have been difficult to go public with. Needless to say these were a MAJOR pain to drill apart and press apart, the time this took almost counter acted building a new JHM lower piece but was obviously quicker. This design was lighter than our final billet upper and lower piece built in house by a couple lbs (I will be showing further down in this thread). This lighter V1 design received no complaints about drive-ability in Both B8 S4 and S5s with V8 or 3.0T engines. That being said with our slightly heavier full billet piece we still get a great weight reduction with increased strength and durability and no core required. The stock lower piece is thin stamped steel.

    Finally. You guys did that install of the JHM LW clutch and flywheel on your 2012 Detroit trip on that test car out here. The car has been running flawless for over a year and a half. He still drives the car super aggressive every time I see him. Completely changed the way the car accelerates and makes the car more "sporty"

    Great mod even if its just to replace the OEM unit for nothing more then an update. Good to see this making its way to the public. You guys really take testing to a new level.

    Conservatively 30% torque capacity over stock with the stage 3 and Conservatively 40% torque capacity over stock with the stage 4.

    All based off of years of clutch abuse in Audi S4s/RS4s and making sure we have those more abusive customer handled. Check out our JH Motorsports Youtube page for examples of our testing.


    Obviously the casual driver who doesn't launch or power shift can expect more at WOT for holding power.

    out of curiosity ..... what's the clutch job like on Audi A5's compared to integras, civics or other 4 bangers like awd eclipses/talons?

    These cars are easier than the B6-B7 and B5 chassis cars especially on the V motors.

    More involved than a FWD honda but probably about as complex as an AWD mitsu.

    We have a full service shop as well, feel free to call us if you need any help, parts or work down.

    So won't need a clutch job for a long time but good to know there is a place I can go to in the future.

    I reckon it's because JHM haven't found the limit of the 4.2 FSI yet. The B7 RS4 version is already in the low 11's @ mid-120's in the 1/4 mile. That's probably about 600 awhp (pure guesstimate). There's some chat elsewhere about the differences between the S5's 4.2 FSI and the B7 RS4's high revving monster - maybe not as different as I thought.     So maybe with an intercooler and all the other "usual" JHM goodies, the supercharged S5 might be getting close-ish. All pure speculation of course, but an exciting time for S5 owners!

There's some chat elsewhere about the differences between the S5's 4.2 FSI and the B7 RS4's high revving monster - maybe not as different as I thought.     So maybe with an intercooler and all the other "usual" JHM goodies, the supercharged S5 might be getting close-ish. All pure speculation of course, but an exciting time for S5 owners!

    TTS has their S5 11.4 sec 1/4 with around 625 chp according to their dyno. Problem is this cost about twice as much as what the JHM kit will be. I was pm'ing a TTS owner who mentioned 625chp is about the limit of the 4.2 FSIs.

    I See that you have an RS5. The RS5 come stock with Catted Headers. The S5 has only exhaust manifolds with a removable cat sections(which the RS5 you cannot remove the cats unless you cut them out). We replaced the cat sections with non catted piping, hence test pipe.
