Nope, here's another photo after the lathe work is complete, with a 6" scale for reference:

Rotor hats is exactly what they are. This is a prototype set I've been working on for a couple weeks that has the proper offset and proper rotor thickness for the 18z caliper. These will be attached to 345x34mm curved vane rotor rings. I can't wait to get everything finalized and installed. More photos to follow.

You are definitely onto something here! I would love to put some 18z calipers on my S6. Forum member reggieroo is trying to do this and experiencing problems with rotor fitment.

I read a bit of that thread, perhaps I should prototype a hat for the 4.2 hub , I think the rotor ring would likely be the same, just with a different offset. I wonder if there would be any interest?

Now make at least 1 set for that poor S6 guy who needs hats in a larger offset lol.

I actually would consider very seriously making some parts for him: the tooling is made for my application, and the only difference I can see at this point is offset. Looks like he just bought some RS6 hardware: I probably should have chimed in sooner.

I would have to confirm that the S6 spindle and hub are the same as the 4.2 spindle/hub, otherwise it would be incredibly difficult to engineer it.

Only my time spent designing, programming and machining; My boss offered me the prototype set if I did the rest on my own time. I've got it good where I work

Sure thing, I've got to dig into my leaking headlight fluid resivouir this weekend, I'll take some photos then. I can tell you that they are modified RS6 liners (or so I was told when I bought the car)

    I would be in.

tbh i'd be more interested in hats that worked with the 4.2/17z(for snow tire sake). i know you can just use the factory 4.2 rotors with the 17z calipers, but i'd like a 2 piece rotor that fit them

I am also interested. What do the cooling fins look like? Could you post a pic of that?

What size are you snow wheels? I'm running the 5-spok audi oem 17s and they fit over the calipers, if only barely.

That's what I thought they were, that's why I asked. I've wanted to get a set for my car for quite a while now, but I can't find anyone that sells them.

And the headlight fluid resivouir.. are you talking about the ballast? If so I have a couple extras if you need one.

Hah, no; I meant washer fluid reservoir. An ongoing joke with my buddies is headlight fluid, and cross-drilled brake lines.

Mind posting a picture of that modified fender liner?
