I was thinking that was the connector for the small light that is in the armrest.

I blew a charge pipe off while at full boost passing a semi on thanksgiving. Scared the crap out of my wife, not sure if it scared my 7 month old daughter in the back but if it did she didn't show it! Threw a po101 code and the car was still running fine as long as I kept it in vacuum. Fixed that yesterday. Charge pipe popped off right below the turbo. Took longer to jack the car up and pull off the Evolution Thor skid plate than it did to fix it.
    Po101 by RAudiB7A4, on Flickr

So I figured since I had the car up I would even out the stance since because when I initially raised the car for winter mode in I was in a rush and ended up with an FTG of 24 5/8" in the front and 25 1/4" in the rear. That 3/4" was a bit much for me. Plus I HATE wheel gap with a passion. So I evened everything out at 24" FTG all around, and installed my Rally Armor mud flaps.

    I have the phone cradle.
Armrest lid = can buy a cheapo ebay china version, and take the original vinyl or leather cover from your OEM cover and transplant it over. Can also buy a 3D-printed latch mechanism for cheap, and install that as a replacement latch/lock. http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...lacement-latch

I removed the cellphone cradle by literally forcibly ripping it out. It leaves a screw or two behind, and a gaping hole near the rear which I used black cloth tape to cover. More room created, less clatter from the stupid plastic cradle contacting objects and rattling.

Our armrest lights up inside? I've never seen mine illuminated. I stand corrected, if that is the case. The cellphone cradle which I forcibly removed had two connectors attached, one of which was the connector in question by the OP.

Picked up some "new" Rotella T6 0w-40. Not sure if you guys in the States have this already, but it's the first time I've ever seen in it the store around my city. Brought all my 5w-40 back (5 jugs) and swapped them out.

I see. Yeah, not that I care as far as Rotella T6 is concerned, but interesting. I've used it for a few years now.

Next oil change will be Liqui Moly though, since my son just gave me 7 quarts that he ordered in error for his E30 project car. Works for me. ;)

I was under the impression the ebay lids were for armrests that don't have phone cradle.
Both lids are different sizes right?

Yep. Rally Armor designed them that way. A lot of suby and mitsu guys run them. I like the coverage they provide. Keeps the salt off of the car, but more importantly it keeps the snow boogers from building up since it all just slides off of the urethane.
Some purists probably don't like it but I kind of like how aggressive they are. Makes for a fun winter setup with the 16" snow tires.

Ahh... I know how this feels, dude I blew an Intercooler hose 4 hours away while at Fixxfest. Luckily someone at the show was nice enough to let me borrow their tools and helped me put it on so I could get home. Finished tightening it up when I got home. But that freaking sucks.

In case it happens again and you don't have tools, unplug the MAF, and baby it home.

Yeah I was lucky I was only 3-4 miles from the in-laws. I was just glad it was right off of the turbo so I didn't have to pull the bumper. My bumper is kind of a bitch to put on with the jhm fmic.

Good to know. I just babied it anyways but it definitely did some bucking when I came out of vacuum. It's really hard to stay in vacuum with a Ko3!

oh i definitely see the use, and I dig the look. I just don't think i've seen them offset quite as much. That said, the car looks great!

BR dtm fronts really make me want to do it again.. argh. Sidenote, I'll shortly find out if b8 sport seats plug right up to a b7.

One of the times I had to unplug the MAF was after a track day. Took forever to get back home, because the car had just about no power. Once I got up to 70-75mph cruising was easy. But if I had to slow down, and then get back up to 70-75 things got interesting...........

Definitely good to know. Mine blew 1 mile before the show grounds. That's how I got it to the event, driving really slow before boost kicked in basically. If not it would hesitate and shut down.

Yeah I got to see what these cars would be like with out these cheerio sized turbo's. It takes forever to get up to speed with out making the car freak out. It would die every time I would take it out of gear.

Nice, you have a lot more of your stock belly pan than I had when I replaced mine with the Evolution Thor. It's nice to have that piece of mind. You were rubbing with 15mm spacers? How wide are your tires? I'm running 25mm spacers in the rear and 17.5mm in the front and I don't have any issues with rubbing on my 205/60-16's at 24" FTG, I used to have 215/55-16's and didn't have issues with rubbing even when I was 23.5" FTG.

I think you're better off without spacers in winter since it will damage the paint will all the salt and sand they put on the streets. Function > Form

Waxed and sealed for the winter finally, it was 67* out yesterday so figured that was my last chance. Aaaaaaand now its 29 and ice rain. Finally moving out of this little southern town on the 12th, woot woot.

Orange peel kind of killed it, it has always been there since I have owned it with only 29k miles on it. Car has never been wrecked either, this common for these cars? Almost seems like a bad paint job from the factory. Too bad this will only last about 5 minutes on black.

    Thanks

Happy with how it turned out, hopefully it stays sealed for the winter. Probably do some spray sealant every wash to maintain it.

How many total miles are on the car? I thought that was the whole point of the catch can...to keep that stuff out! I'm just surprised by how many miles you've had with a catch can and how dirty it still is. Crazy.

based on my research into this... a catch can will NOT fix this completely. It helps, but it won't prevent it, especially with 100k of driving. The whole reason we have the buildup in our engines is purely to do with the fact that the engine uses direct injection as opposed to port injection. Its that port injection at like 50psi that'd help keep the valves clean by misting them with atomized gasoline. Thats why I've seen a number of FSI's install a water/meth injection system with the 5th injector just past the throttle to help keep buildup off the valves. That buildup isnt exclusively originating from crankcase oil vapors that the catch can is separating out.

Curious to hear how this goes for you! What method are you using?

I have never been a fan of the catch can that came in my car anyways. It is clear it is not helping, if you ask me. I am back to OEM. Will just plan to clean every 20K or so now. The only thing I can think of that would really help is eliminating the recirc completely. Like by venting to atmosphere with an electric or manual pump that pulls constant vacuum on the crankcase.

Do you have the early model BSH cans? I have one of their recent revisions and it definitely works. How well i dont know, but it definitely works to some extent.

You are right... doing a VTA or VTE could help. I've been told by a friend who knows his shit better than anyone else i know saying the VTE with the venturi tip into the exhaust works so well that it almost stops oil consumption. Still skeptical but i believe everything this guy tells me. Hes THAT good.

Yes I believe mine is very early. Clean your lines regularly, mine were clogged to all hell, to the extent that the catch can was barely getting anything. It's age and lack of cleaning were probably why it didn't work for me.

I would be interested in the venturri tube. I am sure it works - the physics are right and the guys at VWvortex seem all about it. My set up would include a check valve that switches to ATM, in case the exhaust fumes end up creating pressure rather than vacuum (have read that can happen on start up in some instances).
