Congratulations! My wife is due December 30th with our first one - also a little boy!

Real quick, how are you handling oil changes with the skid plate?

This is super true, I have my daughter rear facing on the passenger side and my son front facing right behind me. Our cars are marginally larger than the new A3.

Congratulations on your new baby boy! You can use the whole "practicality" and "getting over speedbumps" tactic, I'm sure shes tired of the scraping. Plus, you more than likely have parts laying around in the garage or things you can sell to make space in the garage. Maybe that can go towards the air fund

Cars looking good man. Congrats on the new baby boy as well. My baby boy came a little early three weeks ago as well so we have our hands full lol. None the less still finding some time to get some updates done on the B7, lol.

Thanks and congratulations! It took me 2 tries to get a boy. Haha.

Oil changes are actually easier with the Evolution Thor Skid Plate vs's the OEM plastic one. The Thor skid plate only has 3 bolts that need to be removed to uninstall the plate. The OEM plastic one has several flimsy plastic clips that are easy to break and actually take longer to remove than the 3 bolts holding on the Thor plate.

Yep, that's exactly what I'm doing. There is just no way I can drive with a rear facing car seat behind the drivers seat. Either the seat has to be slid so far forward that I can't work the pedals or the back rest has to be in a nearly vertical position and my head is sitting on the ceiling. This leaves my only option to have the car seat behind mine forward facing.

Thanks! Haha, believe me, I've tried. Being static isn't so bad, I've spent a lot of time and money to get my stance dialed in without having rubbing issues. If I were to go to air I would need a more aggressive set of wheels. Big $$$$.

Thanks man, and congratulations! It is damn tough to find time to get anything done with a new born and a 17 month old for me. Haha. I'm not looking forward to going back to school full time in December. I guess I'll just have to get used to not sleeping!

Sorry if you've mentioned this in your thread already but, may I ask what you've done? I'm looking to go 19x9.5 and know the front is going to need adjustable control arms I'm thinking of going with SPC. And the rear I'm hoping I can adjust via the camber bolt thing to get enough negative for the rear. My B7 is red too and really like what you've done very nicely put together.

Hyperco 7" 750lb rear springs to stiffen up the rear as well as go lower than factory ST springs will allow, and an RS4 RSB to help with the body roll. Rolled, then pulled and re-painted front fenders, and a lot of time put into dialing in the height to avoid rubbing but give the best aesthetics. No adjustable control arms, I need the extra natural camber to pull the 9.5's in at the top or they would poke and cause rubbing issues without raising the ride height.

You shouldn't need to adjust the camber in the rear with a 9.5" as long as you are running an et35 or higher.

I finally got my new phone after 3 weeks with out one! I don't have a fancy camera and the wife keeps shutting me down on getting a photo shoot. The camera on the iPhone 6s Plus is much better than my old 5. For any of you who don't follow me on instagram here's a few shots I've taken in the last couple of days. I'm hoping to find some better locations and try to snap some more kewl shots in the near future with the fall colors.

Thanks! I'm pretty impressed with the improvement in low light shots. I also haven't tried any 4K video but since I have nothing with that high of resolution anyways I'll probably just stick to 1080p.

    2015 recap

Hey guys. Nothing has really changed from the last time I posted aside from just raising the car up a bit and putting on snows for winter mode. Just figured I should keep the thread updated seeing as nothing else will change until spring time.

Haha, thanks! I really need a legitimate photo shoot but the wife won't let me pay for one. She says since we've never paid for pictures of our children I can't pay for pictures of my car. I guess it's a pretty good argument...

Really surprised I've never seen this thing at any of the meets up in the cities when you make it up! This definitely makes me rethink what I want for my S-Line avant. That DTM bumper is my favorite part, where did you acquire it?

I don't make it to a ton of events up there. I'm fairly regular to cars &coffee, and I'm planning on joining the Kannonball Fun Charity Rally again this year which will give me VIP access to all of them which is nice because I live an hour and a half away so it would suck not to get in, although I do know the guys that run it and haven't been denied entry yet...

I got the front end from a local MNAudi member in 2012. He was trading his car in for a 335i and needed a factory non s-line front end so he cut me a deal I couldn't refuse. The rest is history l.

    3/30/16 Update

Hey everybody. Time for a spring time update. On March 5th my brother in-law backed into my car while parked in my in-laws driveway. Did I get lucky enough for him to back into the side or rear of my car? Of course not. He backed into my replica Phil's (Fly300kts) front bumper. In case you are unfamiliar of this set up it consists of a DTM bumper with OEM B7 RS4 grille and fog grille's customized to fit...
Better Skyline Front by Tony Mollert, on Flickr

Today I brought the car in to the body shop to repair the cracked bumper and chrome grill surround. The original plan/estimate was to be able to repair the bumper and swap out the cracked chrome grill surround from that of a new grille. I dropped the car off this morning and prayed for the best, but by this afternoon I received a call from the body shop telling me that they could not repair the DTM bumper and would need to replace it. They called my local Audi dealership and they don't have any in stock, so they asked me where I got it. Of course I told them "the dealership!" so I told them I would track a bumper down tonight and get back to them tomorrow. ECS has them in stock and genuineaudiparts.com has them listed on the site but I'm not sure if they have them in stock.

On the phone they asked me about my fog lights as the DTM doesn't have fog lights, to which I replied: "They're custom just like the grille, OEM RS4 fog grilles that have been plasti-welded into OEM DTM fog grille surrounds. All of the grilles in this bumper are custom!" Of course I told them about this when I brought it in for an estimate and they reassured me that they could take care of me no problem. I tried my best explaining what I had, right down to the point where I showed them Phil's DIY threads here to illustrate the amount of custom work required to get the front end that I have. I am confident they still didn't get it until this afternoon after they had torn into it.

This is basically my greatest fear, though not unexpected at all. I deeply wish my brother in-law had backed into any other side of my car. Preferably the rear so I could have upgraded to a DTM rear bumper with minimal out of pocket cash. Unfortunately this was not the case. So tomorrow I will talk to the body shop and give them the info about where they can get a DTM bumper and hope for the best that they can get me back to where I was at I guess.

This is the same shop that pulled and re-painted my front fenders last year. I was and am still extremely pleased with their work, so I'm hoping this experience will also be positive. It's to early to judge right now, but I'm still nervous. This is all going through my brother in-law's insurance mind you: Allstate.

    So everybody wish me luck!

Time to whore with the latest pics...

These first two were taken last Thursday morning after we got 12" of snow.

Definitely one of my favorite B7s

Hopefully you'll be able to get her back to where she was before the accident. I actually prefer the stock rear bumper over the DTM rear, much cleaner IMO. But the DTM front bumper, is soooo damn beautiful

Also, my offer still stands on purchasing your old damaged one if you decide to sell it send me a pm

Picked up the car from the body shop yesterday. A 3 day repair turned into a 12 day when they couldn't repair the old DTM bumper and had to order a new one. Snapped a few photos last night. You guys know the drill...

Med City Collision down here in Rochester did the work. If I were in the cities I'd got to LaMettry's. The general manager Brandon is a great dude and huge enthusiast himself.

    19x9.5" et40 with 5mm spacers all around.

I haven't made any camber adjustments. No adjustable control arms.

Went through your whole thread, great looking car man. Your short video on the ST coilovers also sold me considering I plan on running them in winter as well. Congrats.

I know you didn't intentionally adjust your camber but do you know what the numbers on them are at ?

Also what tires ? FTG ?

How much would you say your fronts are pulled?

Sorry for all the questions but really trying to figure out what I need to have done to get my 19x9.5 +36 offset square setup to fit.

I asked for 50% but it meters out anywhere between 38-41% according to the state troopers...

I don't know what my camber is.

Tires are 225/35-19 hankook Ventus v2's.

Fronts are pulled quite a bit as you can see in the pictures. Not sure how I would measure the pull.

If you still have the fender liners, you should be able to measure how far your fenders are away from them.

Hmmm, I do still have the fender liners. They tuck into the fold of the fender underneath. I'll inspect further.

Thanks that'd be great if you could figure out how much pull you have
