Just a couple updates. Having the failsafe go off everytime recently while logging. and im troubleshooting the system. I havent talked to Howerton yet but i started with the float switch, (which i believe is N/O, and i even left un-connected and still nothing changed).

Got an 's' on the gauge, so thats good

Looked at my system configuration, and it looks different then the default in the manual and it goes like this...
    C=connector E=empty
    C C E C C C E E E C E C C E C E
MPS IDC SSG PWN FAV PRK FDC BAR SYS DR0 DR1 CLP FS0 FS1 DHB DFS

Im doing more troubleshootin, but thought id throw it out there!!

Got a file from EPL! Got a FATS time in the extreme rain up a slight slope. Still a bit too rich but it's getting there!

It's almost worth buying two aquamist kits, it would save the time that it takes to hurl over the atlantic. Have you got your FAV yet??

^^^Oh hell yeah it is. It's might have something to do with the altitude I think. Plus its the first real fuel revision, so there much dialing in to happen. Thanks guys!

Anyways, moving on..... Hitting the dyno in the next few days. Dave@EPL just sent a new file! Going to put some miles/logs on it and then jump on the dyno. This car is responding very well, it definetly wasnt built on a friday ;) I've been running a 3.2-3.3 consistent FATS, which is cool. Anybody in town here down for a split run or whatever PM!

    A minor setback...

Had the flywheel blow right off the endcrank. All 8 bolts sheered off! Because it happened under load, a chain reaction sent flames out the tailpipe that rivaled mortar fire!

Here is the picture of the carnage.

How the hell did that happen? Funny that we both had clutch issues and had to pull the motor again after our builds. Hope you get the car back on the road soon.

Thanks man. My guess is the bolts metal were the right measurement, but the wrong metal somehow. Now we have enough to write an ultimate 605 advice thread!! lol

I posted this in your other thread also but..

Did you measure and compare bolt length and bolt hole depth in the crankshaft?

lol so did i. But i did measure them at the mock up stage, they were a little too long! I inquired to CM about it and they told that it needed the OEM style torque plate, after I got one in there it fit perfect and all torqued down to spec. I might extract the bolts and use ARPs w/o a plate and send some angry emails to CM

Ahhhhh, well that definetly could be it! I was under the impression that 10.9 metric was sub SAE grade 11, and that the JH stamp is a chinese bolt which are sketchy at best. I remember gauging the extra turn by how many ft/lbs i had to increase to get it to turn. Maybe the yeild really wasnt reached though because i thought they were nonTTY

FWIW, when I mounted my steel LWFW I had to cut down my flywheel bolts... doing so I figured the original TQ figures would no longer hold true so I scaled them back a bit... I'd have to check my thread but I think I did a little less TQ and 90 deg. I did use new bolts though. All has been fine for me.. even with multiple hard launches and track time.

yeah i remember you doing that. I think that next time i will trim and go a full 180* because those CM bolts are stretch type. I drove the piss out of the car for 10 000kms and all was fine. Im still trying to figure out why i thought they were non stretch!

yea its easy to mix up. US and metric bolts are on different grade systems. US have the lines on the head and metric have the numerical stamp. The JH is a manufacturer in Taiwan that is responsible for fastener requirements. I wouldn't worry too much about that. atleast now you can plow forward. looking forward to seeing it back together.

Thanks for the help gearhead, much appreciated. I might have to expand the threads to accommodate M12 TTy because of the flywheel threads being damaged. Fun!

Wow, I'm just about to install some clutch masters bolts with a CM FW and clutch setup, and people with wrong length bolts and this really worries me. Any idea on any other, possibly better, option for bolts for a CM FX400 with steel LWFW, and torque figures? The last thing I want is to have to pull the engine again ha.

    Sorry for your situ!

Thanks, and dont worry CM is still good. Its just yielding the bolt and having enough space not to bottom out. There are methods for determining the stretch which are pretty key, that would be the best way to get the clamp force and everything figured out. I think that trimming the bolts down to the first thread would allow you to get the full 180*, which is all that really matters.

    Off to work!

Got 6 of the 8 out. Ordered new flange and gasket for rear main, aswell as some other items. Here are some photos of the process. To drill out broken extractors(which will happen) im using a one of a kind Carbide 1/4 drill bit, thanks to Curtis and Kirk @ Extreme Engine Development for letting me take the bit home for a while, even though you guys smell
