It is most likely designed to use on the elim kits that need to run a 3" maf for the Uni tuning. Basically like the one Neuspeed offers, but that one only fits a stock maf.

It also is a restriction at 210+ WHP.

That would be my custom tuned K03 that ran 14.29 at 97 mph on 104 octane. I was able to hit 215 g/s on a stock maf with that setup and is about the same numbers the J31 file hits on the stock maf.

The gain isn't merely from a larger MAF; it's from being able to properly map the ECU in high boost/RPM, where the element would be maxed out in a stock sized housing.

A MAF element is just a 0-5V output... The ECU then does some simple math depending on how the MAF scaling is calibrated, and turns that 0-5V signal into g/s. Here's a quick generalization of why you need a larger housing for BT setups (the boost/RPM numbers are not hard data, just examples):

With stock housing and a GT28RS - 20 PSI+ from 4000 RPM onward - the ECU will see a 5V signal from the MAF. It won't know that more air is entering the motor at higher RPM and/or boost, and cannot compensate with proper fueling.

By using a larger (2.75") housing, you lessen airflow over the element, and therefore won't max out the 0-5V signal. So, at 4,000 RPM and 20 PSI, the ECU will see 3.9V, and at 6500 RPM and 20 PSI, the ECU will see 4.6V. Therefore, fueling can be scaled accordingly.

It is especially important not to max out the MAF sensor on the early cars that don't have a wideband. They have nothing but the MAF to go off of.

Does this free up a little more room for the elims than what ATP offers? only problem with the ATP one and my 3" maf is that the filter is very crammed in and is hitting the body. was going to order a hks filter, but they are spendy. This is about the same price, but it looks like i could save more room this way and possible put the cover on the back of my passenger side headlight again.
