They don't have 3k of elevation gain in 3 miles, it's not the same. I drive through the Adirondacks a couple times a year, they're not the same as CO, MT, UT, CA, WY, OR, WA. You have mountains out there, not mole hills of 5k feet, out west you're at 6k to 13k with switch backs, not bends.
Roads don't drop 1k feet into isolated glacier formed lakes in NY.
Those photo's are in the Sierra Nevada in June(yup June), not the Rockies, Wasatch, Teton's or Cascades; all of which have elevations of 12k+, CA, CO, WA have peaks at 14K + . The road "The Russian" is on will most likely have blast control happening very shortly, will receive over 300" on avg. a season and is nothing like anything found in the Adirondacks in any quasi comparable way.
