Any latest news about what is the best remote start?

Anyone have a diagram/instruction how to install it? <-- I know is a pain, but I like challenges.

yeah but than you HAVE to park in neutral right?? I have seen one to many parking brakes fail to feel safe with that...

I was thinking about this too recently because I have a tip . IIRC its outlawed to have a manual with remote start. I think there was some freak accident where someone forgot their car in gear and parked right in front of a crosswalk... Didn't end good for the pedestrian.

...so the remote starter engaged their clutch without stalling? That's a damn impressive starter haha

There was a remote start on my corrado before i bought it and it had a 5 speed. There is a way, somehow they bypass the fact that you have to push ur clutch in..i got rid of it because for some reason it was eating up my starters and as soon as i took it , starter problems no more

Re: Remote start - which and how?

i had one on a stickshift nissan.. instructions said just remove a small clip that looped a circuit and it would start without the clutch being depressed.

i dont see that pedestrian story being entirely accurate. not many starters would have the power to jerk the car forward that much without it stalling again

Re: Remote start - which and how?

I have the clutch sensor looped in my Sentra. A while back a drunk girl was sitting in my car and decided to turn the key to turn the PA mic on. Well she turned it all the way with the car in gear and the car jerked forward about 5-8' before she let off the key. I was impressed the power the little starter had

    Look into Compustar
they offer a manual transmission remote start, I actually just finished a manual vehicle about 20 minutes ago.

theres a set-up process called "reservation mode" it requires you to be able to get out of the car while its running.
    -Ebrake up
    -car in neutral

when the door is shut it shuts down the vehicle and locks it. if any doors are opened it cancels "reservation mode" and would need to be done over for you to be able to remote start the vehicle.

Its totally safe, and yes it can be done.

Do NOT attempt to do this yourself... It's not like hooking up a stereo... I installed for 5 years back in hs/college... Whenever we'd take in cars that had a problem, it's 99% due to an install problem. And these were from shops putting them in. Whenever we took in one that an amateur installed...I'd usually rip the whole thing out and start fresh.

Coming from an installer, my best advise it to pay a professional shop that will give you a lifetime warranty on the install. Make sure you talk to the installer and ensure he's done a vehicle like yours before. I wouldn't want my car to be the first A4 some installer did.

It's not "outlawed", however, if something were to go wrong with it, and it's not a remote start designed for a MT car, your insurance company will tell you to go f*ck yerself. There's a ton of horror stories out there... If you do it, you need to do it RIGHT!

    +1

    It can be done safely.

Correct, there's a key hidden in a module under the dash such as a valet key. For folks that needed to have another key made just for their remote start, I'd instruct them to not have a key cut, just have it programmed to the vehicle immobilizer.

To all: Do a search, this has been discussed here many-a-times.

Should have watch this thread more carefully.. didn't want to open a can of worms.

So pretty much from all comments nothing has change. It is pretty much the same of all the old posts.

    Case close.
