i find when i park further away my car gets fucked with more, guess because it's father away from people being able to see what happened. just a few weeks ago went for get some food, came out of the store and there was my car, at the far end of the lot, all by itself with a cart slammed right into it. :( makes it stick out more and people want to screw with it.

haha, sounds like a good thing to say to the guy. Regardless of whether he says yes or no it would have been worth a shot. I had a similar thing happen. I went to church on a friday and parked in the church's parking lot. The parking lot can hold 50 cars easily and on this day there were only about 7 cars there. I parked right next to my parents car (knowing that they wouldnt dent my car) and had about 75 feet of space to the other side of my car. Long story short, the guy parked less than a foot next to my car and put a dent in it. I got my really pissed seeing as how he had all that space to his other side. Some people just arent respectful......

a B5 S4 avant parked next to me at Waterfest a few years ago and I thought "sweet, another S4!" Then I found a big door ding when I left and his car was gone. Asshole.

I feel your pain. It is sometimes very very difficult if not impossible to make people pay for what they do. Police are very useless most of the time.

I'm sorry to hear that, i have a couple dings on both my cars and i know its from people just opening doors and not caring.

VT = a different state of mind. If it's just a scratch, don't worry about it. I used to then they started to pile up and I just gave up. If it's dented as well, then I would be upset but again, I just gave up. I try to remember it's now 6 years old going on 7. My car was spotless when I got it. It became mine when I was brushing off snow and dented it when I swung my brush to get the snow off. Nice.

Wow dude, that sucks... I agree though; I hate police most of the time because it seems like they will never help in cases such as this. I had an ignition coil stolen off of my bike once, but I had no idea who had done it. I called the cops to report it, and it took an officer about an hour to come out, and fill out like, two lines on a notepad she had. She told me to call them in a few days to see if anything had come of it, but I knew already that nothing would be done on her part. She didn't seem professional at all, and seemed like she just wanted to go.

Either way, I guess just try to get it fixed, and if you ever see that truck again, take a baseball bat to it. Then if the guy comes out, just say, "Oh, it's nothing big... it'll buff out." lolol

hahahah... i work at enterprise and we have people who actually come in to rent cars and drive up further north to places like VT to see the "foliage" haha.. i was surprised that people actually go out and spend money to rent a car to go see leaves changing color.. hmm being older cant be thaaattt boring can it no pun intended to the older folks on here lol

i am not suprized that this happened. He probably saw your out of state plates and didn't care what you thought. I love VT, but the old locals couldn't give a rats ass what an outa stater thinks of them. To them most outa staters are just another leaf peeper or rich skier/boarder that is coming to contaminate their precious state.

I always park farthest away in a corner, just how I was brought up. Yes, I get made fun of daily for it but well worth it.

Next time your bored, sit in an A&P/Shoprite lot for 20-30minutes, (extra bonus if it's windy)... and watch the chaos unfold to all the poor people who park upfront.

i absolutely love vermont, miss college in burlington a lot at times...especially now that i've been stuck in the 'real world' for a few years.

you can't call cops for a door ding, you have to get his insurance info. if he says no then tell him you're calling the police with his plate info, and hopefully threatening will just do it. otherwise get his plate and give it to your insurance and see if they can track him down. usually your insurance will just pay for it and they'll seek reimbursement from his insurance company so you don't have to deal with anything. cops have nothing to do with a door ding there wasn't an accident, but you should have at least gotten his paperwork and told him it would take less than five minutes.

this is what happens in VT though, locals don't give a sh*t about your good looking Audi because you're from out of town.

I'm sorry i struck suck a nerve. Obviously you didnt read my other posts because i said i dont really hate vermont, and how its a nice place. I am frustrated that i was there for 2 days, and some careless asshole fucked up my door and there was nothing the cop could do for me. I dont really see a problem in having him pay for the damage he caused to my car...wtf is the problem with that? do you want me to come scratch up your paint and then not pay for it? I dont really see whay you're getting so worked up over this.
