Came home to a package from UPS. It was my JHM solid short shifter. Got it in the group buy going on right now. Installed it tonight and I have to say that this is one nice piece. I went with the 1" shorter option. Feels so much more solid than the B&M knock off I installed in my old A4. Shifting is very smooth and easy. Install took about an hour and is pretty simple. A SS install on the later B5s are a lot easier than the early B5s.

Unfortunately I wasn't going to have time to install the linkage upgrade kit. So, that'll have to wait for another day.

I don't think anyone dislikes the JHM shifter, it's a really nice piece of machining. I installed mine about a month ago and still love it. For what you get it's not that much more than some of the others(excluding ebay)

Anyone have any reviews on how hard the linkage upgrade is to install?

It's not that hard. Pull linkage, drill out rivets, install shift linkage.

    no i mean the shit-ass clunk feel/sound when shifting from 1st - 2nd in most 1.8T manuals.

    it's very noticeable
