My car a few days ago started to sound weird, the turbo is alot louder and you can hear it spin from PSI and before it was more towards the 15-20 PSI. I have APR 1+ and my car peaks 20PSI. however now its only peaking 14-15PSI, so i figured let me change the spark plugs because it was time for oil change and spark plug. when i took out the 1st spark plug there was a little bit of oil, but the the 2nd and 3rd plug there was alot of oil and i dont think this is normal. the 4th was fine. can my boost problem be because of this? or do 1 have 2 problems on my hand? i installed the NGK Copper plugs 7E's hope this info help you guy figure something out to help me out. let me know you thoughts. by the way i was just laid off and cant spend much money on the car right now

Sounds like you have two problems. you have a boost leak somewhere and you need to replace your valve cover gasket. I am assuming you mean the oil was on the outside of the plug and not on the tip.

yes, the oil was outside and on the actual screw of the spark plug as well, not on the tips where goes in the coil pack.

Definitely need to replace your VCG. However that is not related to your low boost. Definably want to run a boost leak test for the louder turbo/lower boost issue. Takes all of 10 minutes. I just checked mine again yesterday since I was hearing some noise under full boost and found that my stock intercooler is beginning to separate. Time to replace it.

I picked one up at Autozone. In stock and around $25. They didn't have a listing for an '03 A4 so I just asked for an '03 Passat 1.8T and they had it.

    Re: Boost Problem

I am having the same issue with low boost and loud noise, Unfortunatly I have checked for boost leaks about 4 times (the first time I found that my TIP had cracked so I got my Forge one in) and now the leak is still present, but i can figure out where. Funny thing is, when I boost leak test, the system pressurizes but I dont hear any air escaping.

If I granny drive it and boost is low the sound never comes, only under WOT. Should I load the system with more then 20psi to find this leak? I am getting frustrated as it has been 2 months with my turbo sounding like a douche. If someone can point me somewhere that would be great.

    Re: Boost Problem

Have you checked the control line to your DV? If it is split or cracked you will not be able to build any pressure on the back side of the diaphragm to hold the DV closed and consequently you will not be able to build any significant boost. You will probably not pick that up with a boost test since you are only pressurizing from the TIP to the throttle body.

Tomorrow im going to try to figure it out the problem, hopefully i change the valve cover gasket with no problem and find the boost leak (if it is a leak) I'm also going to take my forge 007 DV and try to clean, and just check if the problem is not the valve. if i figure it out ill post tomorrow.

Yeah, dealer or online only. No one will have this in stock, except the dealer. And they have it in stock because they F-ing suck and go out all the time.\

If they have it in stock, it's because they replace them ALL THE TIME...lol!
