OEM S3 Sound Enhancing Resonator Kit

Saw this on another MB. Looks like Audi offers an OEM S3 sport exhaust kit. It's really just a Res delete kit.
Looks like some cutting is involved where the mid muffler is removed and a straight pipe is put in.

It's about $200 for the part and about 1hr for install.

Found these sound clips from a S3 with stock exhaust and res delete.
Sounds pretty good imho.

Seems like a decent option for those wanting a better sounding exhaust. I assume performance gains are minimal?

I would struggle going this route over spending $200 more and getting the performance gains and sound enhancement of a DP. Maybe I'm missing something...possible. *hears wife's voice in my head*

I agree, I think this would be a nice cheap upgrade for a louder exhaust note.

Yeah this is primarily for sound, but couple it with a dp also and it could sound much louder and add some performance. I do like that the res delete gives a deeper tone.

Found the install guide off another forum. Looks like no welding involved. Just one cut and kit comes with clamps to seal everything back up.

Yes, but like anything genuine Audi, you will pay a premium for 100% no hassle warranty.

You can search around. Audiwholesaleparts.com sells it for $180.

I'm sure there is an Audi part number on it, but yes if your dealership doesn't give you a hard time on mods then any aftermarket straight pipe can work fine.
I do think it's pretty cool that Audi is coming out with their own exhaust upgrades...

Agreed, hopefully they'll release ECU upgrades soon similar to the BMW Performance software upgrades. I'm sure a lot of people will pay the premium to keep their warranty.

My biggest concern would be fit and drone. I'm guessing the OEM one would fit perfectly and be without drone.
I personally will do a DP first since that would provide the most gain.

I had a stasis exhaust on my A4 that had mid and rear mufflers, but droned like crazy on the highway.
Realize it's just a straight pipe, but the quality of the metal, weight of metal and how the connection points mount up make a difference also.

For me I wouldn't mind paying the extra premium to use the OEM part. It's only $100 more when it's all said and done.

Absolutely. For anyone that just wants a more sporty sound using OEM parts, this really is a bargain.

For sure it is heavier than a straight pipe. I'd say 15lbs. At least.

How much louder would this be compared to stock? I'm assuming it'll be almost as loud as a DP.

I am really interested in this kit. The only concern that I have if the drone is going to be introduced once you the install kit. Provided there is no drone, I think it is no brainer then, every S3 should have it.

I look forward to your review. I am especially interested if there is any noticeable drone be introduced inside cabin. Otherwise it really does look like a must have option. Better sounding exhaust, inexpensive part and fairly basic installation, and reduction in weight, OEM part and installed by Audi means warranty is not compromised - all of these are positive attributes without any side effect (again assuming no drone). Thanks.

I'm not expecting it to be too crazy. Just stock sound thats a little deeper and maybe 25% louder. Hopefully my phone can capture it.

That's pretty much what my catless downpipe did. The car is about as loud as I would want it to be for a daily driver at this point. I'd probably try this resonator delete out just to see what it sounds like if it didn't involve cutting the factory exhaust.

You can go back to original easily by just using the same clamps to reattach the resonator.
