I wish it was that easy lol. It is turning over in the video. That's valve train disaster occurring contributing to that noise.

get a borescope in there to really see the damage (sounds pretty brutal just turning over with the starter)

I have used one of these to inspect cylinders and piston heads. Pretty neat little camera for under $20. Didn't need the software when I used it with my Mac, I think I just turned on video and switched source from built-in (Facetime) camera to USB and it worked great.

The guides on my B7 came apart earlier this year. Luckily it happened at start up. So it ONLY bent 8 valves. I tried to scan it with vag com(legit cable a software). Didn't show anything. A scope would probably be best. I just had it towed to my mechanics. He gave me bad news the next day. But it sounded nothing like that. Like I said. I got lucky. It didn't do any damage to the pistons or cylinder walls. But it is very labor intensive and a very expensive repair. If that is the chain. You're in for more than just guides a chains. Sooo...Tell me more about this LS you speak of. LOL. You can make anything fit into anything with enough time and money. Realistically speaking tho. 2.7 is cheap and fast af.

I'll look into the 2.7 swaps. There are a few LS swaps if you google them. One in s rs4 really sick build. I have already been searching for heads and blocks and entire engines lol. There really isn't much more to say until I start digging into it. On a side note I just blew something up in my trains ams clutch. Yay fml!!! Need to get that running again first then push the Audi in the garage.

Are you looking for timing component write ups? Or do you just want the whole shebang?

Cause there are a couple people on here that have pdf versions if just the timing writeup. Otherwise buy the whole version somewhere.

The PDFs of the timing chain writeup would be fantastic, but would also be helpful to read details on pulling motor etc.

If you hit up pwest15 I believe he has the resources for the timing ish..... As far as pulling the engine. Easy peasy. Lol. Not really. Hardest part would be disconnecting the ecu which you have to take off the wiper arm for.... It's pretty straight forward I believe.

If you buy the CD version it comes with a passcode you can use to log into it online (any windows version) and view it and save/print pdfs at your leisure. And you still get the CD to run on a window 32bit machine if you really want (or virtual machine if you have windows x64). I bought the CD, but always used the online version as I didn't have to run a vurtual window and my wifi reaches my garage

How competent of a shop are you? Because many folks here, just like myself, have tackled this project by themselves in their own garage, and done so for around $1600. I can think of a lot bigger nightmares.

I still don't get why everyone keeps removing the entire wiring harness when pulling the motor. Just unplug the coil-packs, injectors, and ground wires and you you can leave all the electrical stuff in the car.

Probably because that's how the only comprehensive motor pull DIY that exists has it laid out. And when you are not a shop or mechanic you tend to follow any instructions you have pretty carefully. Also I think the Bentley does it that way too?
Either way it's not that bad really to pull the harness. Once you get that ONE bolt under the wiper the ECU actually comes out pretty easily IMO.

1 new OEM RS4 wheel is like $800 at the dealer. $300 for a set is a steal.

So I finally had an opportunity to look into the engine today with the scope I purchased. Yeahhhh doesn't look good, you can see where valves hit Pistons also very scored cylinder walls.

I just had the same issue with my b7 s4. Turns out the crank jumped timing due to a broken guide. Turned over where i could almost hear the starter more than the engine kinda like what you are describing. I pulled the intake (quite easy) and could visibly see that i unfortunately bent my intake valves. I found a motor on car-parts.com for 1200 with a bad upper oil pan,s so i gotta earn my savings. Wish you luck

So... I am in the market for a new complete engine. Rather just simply swap the old one out and install another one rather than pulling heads and trying to piece together another engine.

I suppose that could be fine but it's not a guaranteed fix and it certainly isn't as easy. I believe that the piggies that JHM sells come with O2 sensor bungs behind the main cats

I'm sure that'll be fine and if not, you can always at spacers to the bungs that you weld in

i believe that the extensions only go on the 02 sensors for the main cats ans shouldn't need them for the precat 02 sensors.

I relocated the ones in front of the main cats to the rear of the main cats (plugged old bungs, had new ones welded in) and I still throw the code. I had heard this was a good way to do it but it has not worked for me.

Not going for extreme performance and the 600 dollars. It's an auto, just thought I would gut them while I do the engine swap and timing service.
