Well...I have to start somewhere...no real mods yet, but many on order.

2009 Ice Silver S5 with 50k on the clock that is new to me for the past month. Found on eBay from a BMW dealership in NJ, so called them up, settled on a price and sent them a check. Was in Utah for a week on a business trip and simply changed my ticket to fly to NYC instead of back home in Michigan. Took a train down to the Jersey shore and had the sales rep pick me up. Half hour later I had signed all the documents and started driving home.

Only 800 miles to go....

Only issues with the car was a bad front hood strut, bubbling start/stop button and a broken handle for the spare tire cover. Replaced those in the first week as well as swapped out the license plate fascia for a non-plate version. The car had different tires on the front and rear...not sure why...but didn't care as I planned on getting a set of winter wheels and tires on there ASAP.

18x8.5 with Blizzak WS80's to get me through the Michigan shitty winter.

Other most important thing to me since I drive 80 miles a day is a proper mount for my phone. Still waiting on my iPhone 6+ to show up this week, but sticking with the same mount I have used for the past year. Utilize the S5 mount from ProClip USA with the Rokform mounting system and case as I utilize the same for my bikes to track my rides.

Lonely clear case without a phone...sad panda...

First set of major mods were set in motion today.

Mops setting me up with the AWE track exhaust, coilovers and AG M590 rims in custom brushed stainless steel 20x10 for Summer use. Most likely throwing Hankooks on there since they come in the right size and are a decent price for what I will do 99% of the time...run down the highway...

Blackout RS5 grill from ECS Tuning already shipped today.

Ecodes and rear LED retrofit kits from Nick at OEM+...can't wait for these (EDIT: DO NOT BUY FROM OEMplus. He lied, got my money back and got the ecodes from ECS Tuning and rear lights from Alex at Europrice. Two awesome vendors!)

Should hopefully have the stuff from Mops in time to have a local shop perform my 55K service, install the exhaust and coilovers, do an alignment and even mount tires to the new rims. I'll install the rest myself and put the rims on as soon as the weather breaks (around May...

)

Will obviously post pics of all mods as they are made. Thanks for all of the advice and help with procuring the right parts. Love the forum.

And holy shit, May?! Our winters break mid March here. First of May, the grass is green, and growing like crazy, and temps are in the 70's

Hah...I'll probably risk it the first week we have above freezing weather and no chance of snow in the long term forecast....usually mid-April right after we get back from Spring Break. Planning on picking up a Q5 for the wife and she'll just need to let me drive that to work for any days we get bad weather.

Thanks to all...my only regret so far is that I probably should have just put winter tires on the stock peelers....but I like the black for winter...just not happy with the size/gaps and the fact that the rims are as convex as they are. Could just look a little meaner...maybe when the coilovers and exhaust are on I'll feel better about it...and maybe add some spacers for the winter to kick them out just a bit...we'll see.

The convex profile is a must with that weak offset. With say a taller tire, and a 10mm/15mm spacer setup would help a lot.

Who is going to mention ecodes??

Word...I wasn't going to start the thread until they were ordered. I probably would have waited if Nick didn't offer the deal of the century for getting both front and back at the same time.

I think seeing them on your ride drove me over the edge....ecodes on Ice Silver is the best!

Well...putting the new grill on was way more of a pain in the ass than I expected. But I was by myself and it probably didn't help that it was an overcast, misty day...lack of light and wet ground was not nice. Then again, doing something for the first time is typically a pain.

Obligatory before shot...

Looking down into my grill I notice something the instructions don't mention...a temp sensor mounted right next to the Homelink unit...oh well...guess that has to be unplugged as well...

Yes, it would have been easier on a lift or jacking up and removing the front wheels, but simply moving them side to side to get access to the clips/screws holding on the wheel well liner worked fine as well.

While the instructions say something about taping the Homelink unit to the aluminum bumper, I found it was easier simply to zip tie back on to the new grill directly behind the Audi rings where it won't be seen.

Was worried it looked cheap when I first took it out of the box, but looks great installed...front now ready to put back on.

I have to admit this was the worst part...getting it back on, finding all the right screws for the right places...getting the back edge of the bumper wrapped around and back on.

Now I just need to attack the original rings and get them off the old grill.

Well...I only broke 3 or 4 of the tabs, but who gives a shit...it's on. Wrapped some 3M double sided tape around the S5 emblem and pressed it into one of the holes so it would hold...worked out pretty well. My Euro plate actually shows up tomorrow, so will be nice to get that on as well.

great job bud! looks great. i keep goign back and fourth about switching to a glossy rs5 rep grille, but i think matte black looks great against the fog grilles. and prefer to have the euro plate holder to break up all the nekkid chicken wire

I think you're right...need some better sticky tape for that...I only have the double sided interior trim tape.

i use the double locking 3m tape used for ez pass. extremely strong and you can always take the plate off :P

Damn...and my custom Euro plates shipped already too. Those guys are fast. VAGCOM cable shows up today as well. Going to disconnect the negative terminal on the battery this weekend after unlocking all of the doors to see if that "resets" the passenger door.
