I understand this is a S4 and this is the A4 section but I like it here much better so here we go.

I built a set of 3 piece LM's over the winter in some pretty wild specs for the B6 chassis so I figured it would be a good idea to do a small build thread for others to refer to when trying to do similar projects and allow myself to showcase my work.

Here is the car from prior years, some of you may be familiar with it.

I started with a pretty decent set of 19" LM but the specs were weak and I'm not a fan of face mount LM's so the build began.
    Here's what I started with.

I had to machine the faces a bit to accommodate inner and outer halves plus I wanted to run them sandwich mounted. I also had the holes for the hardware drilled out from M7 to M8 to add strength and aid in getting these babies to seal with no issues.

    Before

    After

    Sandwiches...

    It alive!!

Sealed them all up, this is very easy if you take your time and use some masking tape to keep the mess to a minimum.

    Final specs are 19x9.5 et25 front 19x10.5 et20

Next step was to very carefully choose my tire sizes, wound up with 225/35 for the front and 235/35 for the rear. Nice bit of stretch to say the least.

Now the fun part, trying to get these mofo's to fit.

Initial test fit, that's not gonna work.

I rolled the piss out of the front fenders and pulled the rears the best I could with my roller. This got the job done but left the rears a little too wavy for my taste so off to the body shop it went. I had the fenders reworked as well as the front bumper and a couple other odds and ends resprayed.

    Now were talking!

Also should mention I did a little grinding on the rear hubs and these bolts per some advice from CaptObvious for a little extra camber, forgot to take pics of this process but it's pretty self explanatory once you get down there and look at it. This gave me the tiny bit of extra room I was needing.

Here's some pics I took today of everything all together and rub free. Hope you enjoy and I can't wait to hear some feedback.

    Looks incredible from afar.
I am personally not a fan of the stretch and rear camber but if you like it then that is all that matters!

Love the wheels! Never understood the whole stretched tire business but to each their own.

I honestly am not a huge fan of this much stretch myself. However I am a sucker for big lipped, low offset wheels and will do pretty much whatever it takes to squeeze them on my car. I know some people dislike this look but there really is an art to tight fitment, definitely can't just go by whatever the dude at TireRack says to buy.

Dont get me wrong, it looks really good. But Im not sure I like such a flared rear fender with stretched tires. I guess I would have liked some meat with the overly pulled fenders.

What are wheel and tire specs though?

Believe me, if I could run fatter tires I would. I know it's difficult to see but right around the 2 o'clock position of the fender there is probably less than 1mm of clearance. Even stepping up one tire size would require some serious work.

    Specs are 19x9.5 et25 225/35 front
    19x10.5 et20 235/35 rear

Thanks for all the input guys.

Some wide ass rears. The one pic showing the whole car seems higher than that one pic of just the rears... Were you on a curb or did ya lower it further.

That close up is with my car half backed out of my driveway, that's where all the high tech clearance testing is done.

I love how everyone is so keen to hate on stanced cars... I'll be honest here, the car is fuckin' amazing and better than most cars on this site. The wheels took amazing effort to get to fit (not fully shown all the work that went into it i'm sure) and people come in here throwin' out back handed compliments? geebus guys... appreciate that the car is amazing.

I'm curious if you are on static or air ride though?

I think it's mostly that people just don't really understand it and just don't know what to say. It seems to me everyone is keeping their negative thoughts to themselves for the most part though, you should see what would happen if I posted this in the S4 section...
I don't know exactly what it is that drives me to lower every car I own nearly undrivable but I've been that way my whole life and just can't seem to shake the bug nor do I want to.

Thanks for noticing what it took to get these wheels to roll without thrashing my fenders and car, this has been an ongoing project for nearly the whole winter and definitely is not a job for the faint hearted. The car isy static on KW V3's btw, I have to be real careful entering an exiting my driveway but after that it's pretty smooth sailing.
Regardless how anyone feels or what they have to say about it I always love hearing feedback and appreciate all the input, good or bad.

    One more pic for fun.

A couple shot from an event at the local Raceway this weekend. Got lucky enough to do a couple laps on the track and take some photos.

Looks fantastic! I like the stretched look to a certain degree. The amount of stretch you're running looks great and is not overdone at all. The only thing I would do if it was mine was try to dial in the rake so the rear was just slightly higher than the front. I can really appreciate the work you had to do to pull that fitment off. Nice job!

^^^Thanks man, I've tried dropping the front more but even with the aggressive roll it rubs like hell. That means I'd have raise the ass up to get some rake and that's just not an option, might go bags one of these days to remedy this.

Late to the party. But this thing is beautiful. The specs on those LM's are perfect, and they look killer sandwich mounted.

Definitely a fan of the fitment.
