In this build thread i will write my thoughts on the mods i do along with awful quality pictures.

Car Purchase 8/31/13



The car is a 2014 A5 2.0T Glacier White Metallic. The dealer had a ibis white and a glacier white metallic. I put them next to each other and the thing is in the showroom they both seemed very similar. That was because
of the lighting. However when we took them both outside at around 7:00 pm when the sun was setting. You could clearly see the difference. Depending on the lighting GWM can look very very similar to suzuka grey. It has a slight blueish/greyish tone to it.

Ibis is a solid color, it is plain, plain white, that's the point of solid colors... plain white, plain red, plain blue. If you don't like solid colors, you get metallic or pearl... easy. I personally don't like dirty whites or any kind of metal flake or pearl effect... Am I wrong?

Ok Guys,

So here is the first mod i did.

Description: Black out chrome window trim with Gloss Black Vinyl

After Thoughts: What this did for my car can not be described in words or pictures but i will attempt to do so. This completely altered the look of the car from classy to more sporty. It really enhanced the appearance ridiculously. It cost
me $100 to do it and it'll last forever basically. Its looks so perfect on the car and does not look stuck on, it really looks oem. It work's so well with the whole look. I knew in the beginning it was going to improve the look of the car but once
the job was done and i saw it, i was stunned by how much it improved the look of the car literally stunned. LOL

For Glacier White i noticed it's hard to tell the difference from a regular white color in pictures but in real life it is quite dramatic.

I never know what to do with the window trim. I have the Ti pack so it's blacked out already, but I feel like it constricts me to darker wheel finishes, not that mind that of course, but still limits me though. Nice work though, what's next on the to do list?

Next on the to do list is in 1 hour window tint :). I hear what your saying about being constricted to a darker wheel finish with the black window trim. That is basically true. You do need a darker wheel finish with it not as in black but like something darker. A good look would be something like the rs5 wheels. However i have a set of wheels in my mind that are a lighter finish but will suit the black window trim and car. Will not be getting them any time soon though unless i want to file bankruptcy.





I'm sure with the window tint added it's gonna take the car to the next "level" in sexiness. The rear view is enhanced completely, I am sure of that as i have seen quite a few A5's with tint and from the rear it looks amazing. I'll have a thorough review of what i think of the window tint and what i feel is the best looking percentages for the tint on the A5.

^yeah those wheels come with the Ti pack too. It's a deal at $500 for the option (grill, trim, wheels) but obviously you have to custom order the car new and take a big hit there, but it was worth it, sort of

Hey man. You should definitely get it done. I would say get it done by a professional costs a $100 bucks but you will know the job is going to be spot on. I hope lol. The guy who did mines was awesome and had so much experience.
It took him an hour to do the trim and he really was a perfectionist just like me so he was looking at every single pixel. I have also got my windows tinted today will take a picture tommorow or after tommorow as it needs time to dry.
This car has instantly transformed from classy to headturning sporty. With these first two mods the window trim and the tinted windows. I believe i chose the perfect tint material and percentages will post pictures soon.
I literally debated with myself for about 2 days to figure out which tint material/percentages would make this car the most aesthetically appealing. Did not want it to be a ganster car with all blacked out windows. Wanted to keep it sporty and classy.
I really feel i hit the jackpot on the tint the way i imagined it is the way it turned out.
Whenever a mod turns out the way you imagined it that is a very good thing.
So far 2/2 on mods :)

Haha tint is a beautiful thing my man. When applied correctly it can transform the look of the car in a really good way or when applied incorrectly it can transform it in a really bad way. I'd say its a pretty drastic mod for aesthetic purposes and deserves to be recognized as a mod.

I would call it a mod, and very true about being drastic in regard to exterior aesthetics. All of the sudden, the body/lines are more pronounced.

So here is the second mod i did.

Description: Tint Windows Color Stable 20% rear windows and 50% front windows

After Thoughts: So first of all the camera i am using is crap so you do not really see the tint the best as you would in real life or on a really good camera. I was debating with myself with which tint to go to for a couple days and looking at different pictures. i thought maybe 5% all around, 20% all around, 35% all around. Or mixing it up like 20% fronts and 5% rear. 35% front and 20% rears. But the problem i ran into with all these is when you look at the car from a front angle the windshield is very light while the other windows are darker and i didnt feel my eye's easing across the car from that angle while looking at it. It would have looked good from sides still and rear view but not the front angle IMO. I am happy i chose 50% fronts and 20% rears once the job was done. It was a slight progression of darkness from front to rear. There was not a extreme difference in darkness from windshield to the front windows and then to the rears and i gotta stress it looks "OEM" IMO. It was like when you get a haircut they dont just give you a number 4 up to a certain height then do like a number 6 on top. What they do is blend it in between the 4 and 6 so it looks gradual and clean. Below is a picture of what i am talking about. A small problem with tinting the windows is the dot matrix. However it is still totally worth it as if the job is done right even the dot matrix will look uniform and it is only noticeable when you are within a couple feet of the car. Also I would say the view that the tint enhanced the most was the rear view. Like Mops said "All of a sudden, the body/lines are more pronounced." The car's stance looks so much beastier from the rear as you guys know that's what makes the Audi 5's the most sexiest things out there is there stance they're super wide and powerful looking.
The tint turned out better than i could have imagined.


P.S I will try to post a rear view picture when I can. Boy it looks nice as hell from the backside haha. Like a pretty girl who does squats.
