sup az. so ive been posting for a little while now. lurking for longer. and ive been meaning to introduce myself but ive just been too lazy/busy (same thing) to snap some shots.
well it finally happened and figured i might as well make use of the thread so im gonna blow it up with some (pretty noob) questions.
but first some info on me and the car.

names vince. obviously. 26. live in huntington beach. which is socal. spend a lot of time at the girls place in garden grove though so im all over the place lol (any meets down here?)
this next part is a bit of a disclaimer. ive no hands on experience with modifying and maintaining cars. everything ive driven before this was meh and i barely cared about them or for them.
89 jaguar xj6 sovereign. 96 accord. 95 integra gsr. 02 escalade. 04 element (actually love this.) 98 es300. and now im driving an audi. so seriously. please excuse any stupidiy
i do plan on doing as much of the work on this one as i can myself though!

CAR
so i bought the b6 1.8t avant a couple months ago. brilliant black. black interior. 6 speed manual.
this was literally my (feasible) "dream car" sophomore year. pretty sad. but finally got it! (i almost got a s2000 LOL)
its sport. premium. lighting. cold weather. and bose equiped.
overall id say the car is in excellent condition. leathers not cracked. only peeling is on the bottom side of the tape deck opening.
and only thing really wrong with interior is the stupid broken visor clip. anyone wanna donate? =D
paint is pretty damn awesome. i am noticing some tiny rock chips though =/ car drives smooth. i just need more fast lol
i am the first owner to have this car not garage kept though. and it makes me sad.

mods include: neuspeed exhaust. h&r sport springs. bilstein adjustable shocks. usp upper/lower front. boser style cf hood. giac stage 1.

the car you see was bought as is. i havent added anything of my own. yet.
well except for the vagcom stuff. its kind of crazy that i had to do the remote window control. seatbelt chime. and stuff myself. im the third owner!

oh. it also came with thule ski/snow racks. and a HUGE plus. the first thing prev owner showed me was a binder full of maint records.
seperated by owners. including original window sticker. thought that was REALLY cool. never seen anything like it haha

PLANS
things i plan on doing relatively soon:
plastidip job on front usp center surround. rear bumper trim. most likely wheels too. just to mess around with them(im too poor for wheels right now lol)
snub mount.
hfc. injectors. flash. whatever stage that is.
k&n drop in filter.
joey/clear corner mod.

things i want to do in the more foreseeable future:

boy412: front and rear valence, roof spoiler, door blades, 18" RS4 wheels, stiffer suspension, fishscale aluminum beltline trim, and "Sport" steering wheel (air perf). Maybe aluminum door sills as well?

whats up with my shift knob? ive never seen one like this before. it was really weird for me when i went to look at the car and didnt see the ball shifter with the metal collar.


before joining az i thought my car was a unicorn. what models/years did the 6MT come on? is it a trim thing? upgrade option or something?

search: oem valeos are best. depos arent bad. stay away from helix.

i dont know anything about suspension. is my h&r/bilstein combo nice? negative rack has also been brought to my attention through another thread.
its always bugged me a little bit that the rear was lower since the day i bought it. i do like the rears height more though. is there a (relatively cheap) way to lower the front?

not a unicorn, but harder to come by.

Ecodes are the OEM EURO spec headlights. they are better than anything you will buy that is aftermarket.

it is used as primarily a diagnostic tool and repair tool for some electric devices in the car. there are a few tricks you can do with VAGCOM, but it appears you have done them.

That's a lot of questions dude! But first off, congratulations! Looks like a good car.

1) The USP was offered right before the B7 was introduced. Not sure the year range. '04 and higher obviously...since mine is an '03 and that was not an option. So yes, front and rear valence, roof spoiler, door blades, 18" RS4 wheels, stiffer suspension, fishscale aluminum beltline trim, and "Sport" steering wheel (air perf). Maybe aluminum door sills as well?

2) Not sure about that shifter. Check with some of the other USP owners?

3) I think ALL the MT "Ultrasport "cars were 6sp?

4) For the $ I don't see anything wrong with the Depo versions. Best to check with people that have run both and see what the pros and cons are.

5) The reverse rake can be addressed by either raising the rear with a set of delrin spacers, or running adjustable coilovers so you can dial the ride height to your exact specs.

7) Go to the 42 Draft Design site and read up on spacer selection. Its mostly an aesthetic thing, but some people need them so their wheels clear larger calipers.

Well the lack of the USP rear valence and roof spolier means it probably isn't. Those aren't things that you can swap easily! Might be worth calling an Audi dealership and see if they can look up your VIN.

Regarding the Audi iPod adapter, your iPod doesn't need to stay in the glove box. The cable they supply is long enough to where you can leave your device sitting in your console, attached to a pro-clip, or whatever. You end up with a cable snaking out of your glove box but that's no uglier than the tape adapter you are currently using. Again, there are those two other options you mentioned. I chose the factory option and its worked out well.

and i remember reading that the oem ipod connector was nerf'd compared to the others. something about playlists? controls?
was just wondering if there are any other reputable brands people wanted to suggest.

There is a website that will decode all the option codes, forgot what site it is though, someone on here should know what I'm talking about. There's a sticker in the spare tire well that has a bunch of numbers and letters in groups, enter all those in the decoder and it'll tell you the build options your car came with.

for the auto volume setting press and hold the menu button for 5 seconds. A 'secret' settings list will appear. From there you can turn on/off the auto volume adjustment.

so there wasnt anything in that setting pertaining to the speed sensing volume thing
i meant to post this yday so i forgot whats in there but for sure theres the auto max radio on setting. and phone left/right. i cant remmeber what else right now.

no =[ my first one was called something like "max volume on" setting. it set the loudest the audio would turn on when i turned on the radio. or like when the car started. like if i had the car blasted at 20 from the previous night it would only turn on the next morning at X
