I'd love to, but I don't think I can spare the extra 100 bucks to throw at some dyno pulls. I just spent an unanticipated grand on tires yesterday.

So my normal shop can't get me in until Monday. But Wolfsburg Autowerks is open on Sat. though they told me the are "new" at flashing cars. Do I wait till Monday, or give this new shop a shot? Any of the Boulder guys ever been there?

Only issue is if I wait, then I don't know if I still want to dyno later the same day. And if I don't dyno it then, it'll be another week before I can go back in. I'm just getting slightly impatient......

Thought it would be - (July) Order with core already sent in 5-10 business days build time. Install 1-2 days, tune. On the road 1st week of August. Now 2 months later.........

    you've waited this long.
Expenses in F1 have gone down since the 1960s because teams don't need an extra pit crew to help the driver carry around his balls when he is not in the car.

I would have to agree. You know I would never go to another shop. I also think it would kind of be a waste to dyno that quickly after the tune. I would give it a good couple days at least of hard driving before the dyno.... It's hard to wait, but you don't want to have excuses available if the numbers don't seem right. It would be better to know the tune is fully adjusted.

Though I prefer SCR, I've long since stopped taking may car to them for performance mods. Forest up in Loveland handles that for me now. So to me he's where my shop "loyalty" lies. Maybe I'm trying to convince myself?!? But a flash is a flash. They've done the late model S4 and VW where you have to remove the ECU and send it in to APR. And JR, if you come up on Sunday, I can take my car through it's paces on a Canyon cruise!!! Help me out ! All this will be moot if the TP install doesn't get done in time.

One step closer, K0R is installed, and so far it's done well on just the APR II tune. Can't wait till Monday to get a proper tune. Really don't want to run onto the wastegate issue though, guess I'll see.....

On a side note, the cam follower was in good shape (it's replaced anyway).

For the K0R, zero percent. Being stuck at a Missile Alert Facility days at a time lately has been sapping my time. And I'm skipping the II+ and just doing K04.

Burned through about 1/2 a tank of gas probably averaging 15mpg at best, and I'm going through w/m alot faster too. I'm sure the novelty will end at some point. The APR dealer set me to the stock K04 file once I got flashed, but that lasted until I got the keys and put it into 93. If the car is "learning" my driving style, it probably thinks I'm a manic....... 2nd gear pulls, 3rd gear pulls........ Tried out the 104oct file and it was luv at 1st pedal smash. Though I think for day to day driving, I'll stick to 93, and switch over for fun runs. I'll try to have a more in-depth review, after I finish at the dyno (planning on the 17th). But simply put, the headaches and waiting game are turning out to be more than worth it.

Oh, and I made one of thee most shameful DIY heatshields for my CAI. On the plus side, it does it's job very well, the negative is it's not pretty. Still may end up with a Blinktek shield so I don't have to shy away from opening my hood.

I'll spare myself the flamage. Dude, it's rough, but like I said does the job. Right next to a 700+degree turbo, the shield is warm to the touch on the other side, and my intake piping is still under 100 degrees. Just ZERO style points.

Operator what sort of preventative maintenance did you do to prep your car before installing the KOR? I'm really curious if you flushed your tranny and changed differential fluid.

Well I went back to the dyno today, and while the gains are nice, the final number was a bit lower than I was expecting. But numbers aside, the car continues to wow me each time I hit the accelerator. I told RAI it's like getting chipped all over again plus some! I had my friend Edgar (i3oricua here) ride along to pick up his A4 and he commented on how nice the performance was. Like I said a couple times, the car seems to want to run past 100mph, and just keep going (though I of course NEVER go that fast! no matter what the max speed on my GPS may say). But onto the dyno. Baseline and final were done at the same shop, boostcreepltd around 60-70 degrees both times. Harvey the Dyno operator told me ahead of time, his dyno reads low, and gives out pretty conservative numbers. I really just wanted to get an idea of the gains more so than the max read-out. So here it is.

    Audi A4 Quattro/Tiptronic K0R at 5,000ft elevation

Stage 0+ (stock plus TP) K03
    166awhp

    APR Stage II 93oct K03
    188awhp

    k03apr by DMK, on Flickr

    APR K04tune K0R
    255awhp

    k0r by DMK, on Flickr

    PSI All 3

So in short, a 89awhp gain over stock and 67awhp gain over Stage II. While the difference from stock to Stage II was only 22awhp.
Things of note, the dyno operator, and the shop I received my tune from, claimed they can hear an exhaust leak, so I plan to get that checked out. After working with F-16's on the flightline my hearing is about shot, so I can't tell. My 255 is close to the 260 Will put down, though I have more mods. Though my tiptronic drivetrain loss and elevation, and less aggressive APR tune don't help. Also the APR tune for some reason on the dyno, is erratic (but wasn't for StageII?!?), but while driving is smooth?!? The boost fluctuated as you can see from the last graph. I'm not sure what caused that, as on the previous 2 it was pretty smooth, and like I said, it doesn't seem to do that in normal driving. I'm waiting to see how Jimrobbington's dyno goes, to see if I want to take the car down to Denver next week. All in all, I'm more than pleased. GT28
