S line style diffuser on non s

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Well I for one love the S line style diffuser and know there are many others on here as well that agree. Unfortunately I have a non s-line car and cant justify replacing the whole rear bumper just to get this valance. I have searched rigerously to find a valance that would be comperable, only to find the 600 dollar Osir CF diffuser and I'm honestly not too fond of the carbon fiber.

I stumbled upon a thread a few pages back while searching and found this diffuser a member posted, and I think its pretty much the closest thing currently available.....

    http://www.ebay.ca/itm/AUDI-A4-B8-S4...item3360afa855

I was considering the possibility of cutting a mesh insert to install into the gap as well. Thoughts? It also comes in a quad tip setup.

I don't know if it is just my eyes, but that seems to be exactly like the non-sline one.

on that listing, the one in the first pic of it on the car already is definitely the non-sline one, prob just used a filler pic to show where it goes.

but as for the valance itself on the other pics, yea thats closer to the S4 diffuser, you can put an aluminum trim piece in the middle or customize it with the mesh there like you said. looks pretty good and prob one of the better ones you'll find for non-s, should look great and def improvement over the plain stock one.

but yea i know how you feel, not many options on non-sline without going quad tip, but that one looks good though, has the space for the dual sided which you can cut up it seems.

you also have this as an option on non-s if you have a dual sided / quad exhaust http://www.ebay.ca/itm/09-12-Audi-A4...ht_3963wt_1344

Yea I dont want to get new exhaust quite yet so I think this diffuser is the one for me. I do like it has a cutout for the quad tip for whenever I do decide to go that route as well. I hate how boring the stock one is, and this one is not too over the top.

As for the other one I read on another post that particular ebay valance is not good quality (forget who it was who bought it). Apparently they spray the whole thing with some crappy textured paint that chips very easily and looks bad. I do like that valance though, but feel it may be on the border of too aggressive, and once again it requires the quad tip setup.

You may want to consider the Votex (Audi aftermarket supplier) diffuser for non-Sline rides.
Mine, highly modified on my '09 3.2

Not particularly cheap, but a nice look IMO

That votex looks really good with the mesh in it nicely done!... I am trying to use it with stock exhaust though, so that isnt really an option for me. I originally wasnt crazy about that valance, but dressing it up with a bit of mesh looks pretty good. I dont know what it is i used to hate the mesh on the back of a valance (mostly reserved for super riced out Japanese cars), but its really growing on me for these cars. You've shown if done properly it can look really good. I think I am pretty much sold on this valance, and I'm hoping once I throw some mesh in it I can provide a decent looking affordable alternative for people looking for that s-line style valance. Just gotta see how much money I have at the end of the month after paying bills.

To paint or not to paint? I do like the flat plastic OEM look, but maybe painting it flat black? Guess I'll have to see the quality of the part once it comes in.

Same valance only for quad setup. gives a better idea of what this diffuser looks like installed.

yea its pretty much like the S4 valance: https://www.google.com/search?num=10...w=1600&bih=775

just missing the alu trim, but would look nice with the trim and a subtle mesh pattern like the s-line has

I didnt even notice that! I always assumed s line and s4 had the same valance... could easily add some aluminum wrap for the trim and an insert... might look pretty nice.... maybe even full Di noc wrap... hmmmmm

^^ guessing thats an early render of the S4, but seems like the same thing without the indent/groove in the middle above the alu piece. you could probably just get the normal smooth stock one and stick an alu piece on there like that lol

I actually ordered this rear valance yesterday for a custom 3 inch quad set-up that I am doing (Eurocode HFC to Eurcode DP to resonator to straight pipe). i'm going to either get it painted gloss black with the strip that they have white in the picture ice silver to match my car or just gloss black full or plastidip not sure yet. I will take pictures of the before and after of the valance for everyone when I get it completed next week.

Peet that is exactly what I was looking for! although its a bit steep even before shipping for the single sided dual tip setup which I may be swapping out for a quad tip down the road.... Do you even know if they ship to the US? I tried to find it on the site, but its set up so poorly I cant see. I will definitely keep this in mind though as I have been searching all over for the s-line valance on a non s-line, and from reading the forum I can see a lot of others are as well. Thanks!

I cant really tell from the picture, but the valance is symmetrical so do you think it would be possible to cut the other side out for a quad tip setup down the road?

M Steele thats a clean look too. I usually like the contrast of the unpainted or black valance on the back of an Ibis (which is also what I have) but man that looks really clean with that valance. Nice work.

yeah that site is tough to browse, like they dont want you to find their products lol. i was able to find this from the sidebar part:

    http://p129913.mittwaldserver.info/p...dhq9nfqa0puqh5

its the single sided version of the s-line valance, but i cant really tell if its for non-s or s-line from that pic, hoping its non-sline as that would be a good one to go with, kinda expensive though.

yea that was the one I was referring to in my previous post. I found it the same way through the sidebar haha that site is rather difficult to navigate. I thought it was a tad pricey especially after shippipng costs if they even ship to the US. From the looks of it I think its safe to say it is for a non-s car because it doesnt seem to wrap under at an agle like the s-line ones do. You think it would be possible to cut out the other side if I decided to go with a quad tip exhaust later on? Looks like it might work but its hard to tell with that picture.

yeah seems like for non-s from the shape, and otherwise it would just be the OEM s-line one and they prob wudnt have it listed there. and yeah im sure you can cut out the other side, dont see anything that would prevent that, just need to have someone good do it so it comes out perfectly symmetrical.

You ordered the option with the blade that was primered, or already aluminum?

I purchased the one that was painted the Alu matt finish because the other one ECS had was for the dual exit single tip exhaust (3.2). The color of the blade wasn't even close to the color of the OEM S4 mirror housings. The housings actually have a clear finish on them and the shop sprayed the blade with some satin clear and the color was still way off. I am not sure what color the shop used but the base coat was black then the silver and then the clear. I would say the color match is 95% to the Alu housings. I also found the valance for $380 with primed blade on wholesale audi parts website but had already ordered mine. Also getting the blade wrapped with the clear film because if it gets bumped it's gonna destroy the finish. Hopefully the clear film will protect against scratches.
I purchased a piece of 2mm thick honeycomb mesh in an attempt to incorporate it into the valance and then have that painted the alu-mat finish. It looks like the same stuff on the s-line valance. Worth a shot if I can get it to look good.

Good to know, thanks. I would need the dual outlet valence for my avant, but if the extra blade does not match well in matte aluminum as is, I won't even bother considering that one anymore.

If you got the aluminum paint to look 95% OEM, you have done a great job, which looks to be the case from your photo anyways. The OEM aluminum is not paint, but some kind of an aluminum treatment. Researched this before purchasing OEM S5 mirror caps.

It's definitely worth getting especially since the shop had any easy time matching the color. If it was a large surface then I might be concerned but the blade looks great painted and it all ties in.

Pretty sure it was here http://www.audipartssuperstore.com/ get the part # and search on the site. Definitely send an email to confirm if in stock and correct valance but I know when I entered the part # it was $380.

^^ very nice. i personally think having it gloss or satin black with the alu trim as is would look nicer, would add a nice contrast.

It would almost look stock again with the black valance. I thought about doing the whole thing in Alu-mat but wasn't sure how it would look. Should of had someone photoshop it.

No, you made the better choice! Would have been overkill.

Getting the it wrapped with the clear film tomorrow to protect it against the good old Boston bump.

Found online various sites, ECS, for around $670.00USD for the REAL deal. Or pay $420USD PLUS another $200+ for shipping this valance (big piece) from the Netherlands. And with the real S-line bumper you'll get the extra added curves. It's a no brainer.

You haven't taken into account sales tax, paint & labor, or the valance/diffuser if you go full OEM bumper swap, so add at least another $250-$300 to the $670 cost.
