    Is Glacier White worth it

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I'm gonna be turning in my 2010 Brilliant Black A5 early and getting into a 2013 A5 and I wanted to know if Glacier White was worth the extra$$ or if I should stick with Ibis. Is there a major difference in color. I've done some research and seen some pictures of the two, but I thought I'd see what y'all thought. Any input would be appreciated.

BTW I'm a little bummed that you can't get the S-line package with Premium Plus.
Current: 2012 A6 Premium Plus, RS Grille, Sport package, Advanced Key, Phantom Black, H&R Springs, Niche Misanos, 20x9 et 32 on 255/35/20's
Gone :2013 A5 6MT Glacier White, Premium Plus, Sport Package, Advanced Key, Chestnut Brown int. 20% tint, H&R OE Springs.
    Gone:2010 A5 Brilliant Black Premium Plus, 6spd, 20% tint, Hartmann HRS4 - 252-HS 20x9's on Falken 255 30, H&R OE Springs.

I prefer Ibis. but it's personal. Ibis is very pure, the glacier will have more depth, and different hue depending on the light. The name reflects what it is very well, so think of it in terms of that

I was in the same predicament as you when I was hunting for my A5 and I choose the Glacier White over the Ibis, before I ultimately choose the Ipanema Brown...

Both the Glacier and Ibis look 98% alike and unless you're standing in direct sunlight with both cars next to each other, you wouldn't know the difference.

The Glacier White is metallic and has a "sparkle" to it. It was worth it to me at the time, but like I said earlier, I ended up with Ipanema Brown. Never regretted.

btw, not a lot of people have Glacier White, as it was first introduced for the A5/S5 late into the 2012 build cycle.

I don't see those two colors on the A5 order sheet. The other color I was considering was the Ice Silver Metallic.

Exclusive colors....up charge of 2500 - 6000 depending on color. I paid $4500 for Ipanema Brown, but I heard they dropped it to $4000 for 2013 models...

+1. To me not worth it but if you have the funds and you like it, go for it!

I decided between the two also. I went with Glacier. If you're in an Audi dealership, usually they have a glass casing you can look in and see small cut outs of the cars doors or a part of the car, with paint on them. In that case they usually have an example of Ibis vs. Glacier and you can COMPLETELY see the difference when viewing them next to each other.

Like someone said above, Glacier has more of a metallic in the paint, where Ibis is more of a championship white in a way compared to the Glacier. Ibis is more of a pure white.

They're both nice, but if you have the option I'd compare the two together at a dealership and then make your descision.

Thanks for the responses guys. I was able to see the Glacier at the dealership and I just didn't see anything special but I'm sure I would if it was up against the Ibis. I'm thinking its probably not worth it. Probably put my money towards the sport package. Decisions, decisions.
I'll be glad to be getting rid of the black, as gorgeous as it was when it was clean, it was such a pain.

    I went Glacier...

I have had the Ibis on black with the past 3 Audis I had & have become bored. I just finalzied my order for a 2013 A5 coupe and chose Glacier white with dark brown interior (some call it popo brown).

The Glacier has more of a pearl or sparkel affect and is, in my opinion, well worth it!

That's exactly the combo I am considering. Did you get the sport package.

I got the bad news that SLine is only available on the Prestige now and unfortunately that's a little out of my price range.

Talk to your dealer, they maybe able to manually select it for you. My dealer tried to do it for my car, but Audi was missing bits and pieces, therefore could not.

What is the Style package? I don't see this on the order sheet.

Only way to really compare is to see them side by side (which I did at the dealership)

I went Glacier > Ibis. Ibis was just too much of a "white-out" color to me. No regrets! But you'd be happy either way!!

The Sport Package comes with Sport Seats, and the same suspension as the S-line (in the US anyway). The only thing needed is to add the 19" wheel & tire package. That keeps the price well under the cost of the S-line.

You have all the imporant bits of the S-line that make the car handle better, without the added expense, if one is on a tight budget...and some people are.

My reason for going that way with my A5 & my wife's soon to be delivered A4, as opposed to the S-line, wasn't price...we just do not like black interiors and or headliners, and were able to get light colored interiors on the cars.

I really wanted the Sline for the Front and Rear bumper along with the side skirts and interior bits. The suspension or wheels wasn't that big of a deal to me given I will change out both.
