I see where I can purchase an 8 oz sample of the sealer. I think I will pick it up to play with and see if it will work.

    Thanks!
I am re-doing my Avus wheels this weekend so Ill post some pictures

I did not use it on the wheels, I used DC's silver wheel paint, but I painted another metal object with it and the super tiny metal flake in it matched the BBS stock finish when I put them side by side. I did not clear over it though. You may want to get a cheap spray can of it and test it on something else then clear over it to see what happens.

OG I literally JUST had my wheels sent out to be remanufactured. Try a franchise called AWRS(Alloy Wheel Repair Specialists). They can either come to you or send out the wheels. They have hyper silver paint and do phenomenal work. Also if you wanted to DIY try looking up Wurth hyper silver paint. Although it might be a European market as the hyper paint is actually lead based.

Sorry for the mass posts... A bit better lighting, (dirty wheel), but this is what they are capable of doing.

Looks good That's definitely more of a Hyper Silver than a Bright Silver. Ball park cost? I assume it required removing the tires for the refinish?

I have researched The Wurth And 1Z Einszett Silver and although it may be called Hyper Silver it is really more of an OEM match. I just purchased a HVLP spray gun and I am going to see if I can get the local Auto Paint Supply shop to mix up something with a little extra sparkle.

    We shall see!

Well... My refinishing was a bit more in depth than most. Reason being is because a friend and I decided to try aircraft paint remover and a bondo spreader to try to scrape off the factory finish and redo them ourselves.. 10 hours and hundreds of thousand brain cells later they looked like a rusted old Datsun that's been rotting in a scrap yard for 50 years... They were beyond my capabilities by that point and my only option was to send them out and have them remaned.. MY process did require the tires dismounted and remounted due to the condition of my wheels at the time.

On the other hand yours, granted you still have some factory paint and primer on the wheel, will most likely not need this procedure. Like I said, these guys will come to you and 99% likely they will repair them right in your driveway without needing to dismount/remount the tires. I paid $925 for all 5(yes all 5 were completely fuct) I believe they offer the repair service for your type of situation for around $100 per wheel.. I can assure you that you'll be 100% happy with the results.

I actually was recommended to this company through my local Audi dealership and another MB dealership.

By the way in my last pic (close up) that very wheel suffered from my girlfriend slamming a curb going 40mph and literally had 1/8 inch deep gouges and shards of aluminum hanging from it before the repair (sorry no pics, I was ashamed at that point)

It looks like you got a really nice finish! However, as I stated previously in this thread I only have $350 invested in the wheels to begin with. It's kinda hard to justify spending more to have them refinished than I originally paid for them. I picked up an inexpensive spray gun set Clicky click so I can play around with painting them myself. I just have to find the right paint! While I'm at it I am going to mold the front bumper and give it a new coat of paint with a gun instead of a rattle can.

    Wish me luck!

The heavy duty brush-on stripper that comes in a quart can works a lot better than the spray-on Air Craft brand stripper.

Nothing yet. My new HPLV spray gun should be here tomorrow or Friday. I did order an 8oz sample of the tank sealer that rollerton suggested to see what it looks like. Here's how it appears inside a Lotus fuel tank. Found the pic on Google images. I dunno, it might work. I will probably mold and repaint my front bumper before I go after the wheels so it may be a month or so before I get there. Whatever I do I will be sure to post up pics one way or the other.

Did you ever get the wheels painted? Did you post pictures anywhere because I don't see any here.

Apparently Duplicolor has a new Hyper Silver Coating; Silver/Clear 2-11 oz. Aerosol Kit. See it on Amazon at http://www.amazon.com/Dupli-Color-Pa...r+Hyper+silver

    Has anyone tried that?

I am just looking for touch up paint as my wheels are pretty good but their are a few typical scrapes and nicks.

I have sprayed some into a cap before and used a small brush for touch-up of various things.

Looking for a good solution now. :o)

I just found the two threads above to talk about the Duplicolor color paint system.

I talked to a seller on eBay and he called the manufacturer and they said that this was not exactly the same as the Audi hyper Silver.

I was hoping that someone would post a picture of a finished wheel along with an original wheels so that I can see how good a match it was!
