I too am adjusting to a new S5 Sportback and was somewhat disappointed with the lack of storage space. That's not only for the jack, but the glove box and center bin between the front seats are substantially smaller than the those on our 2011 S4. On the other hand, the overall cubic feet of storage space in the trunk and when the rear seats are folded forward is huge. The bag for our jack was also attached to a D-ring in the trunk. There was no way it is going to fit in the spare tire well. My solution to this was to use a small trunk organizer, similar to this one, which I've also used to store a couple of small folding umbrellas, a roll of paper towels, some folded plastic sheeting, disposable rubber gloves and slip-on shoe covers in case I have to get dirty (changing tires which hopefully won't happen, and other such tasks). It just occurred to me that makes me sound like "Dexter" LOL!

One thing that I noticed, and it may affect others who just got a 2023 S5, is that the tool bag only contained the jack, the crank handle for the jack, and that was it. There was no lug wrench to remove the wheel bolts, and the small plastic tool to remove the plastic lug bolt caps was also missing. I didn't order the OEM wheel lock option so perhaps it got missed by whoever put the tool bag in the trunk. I placed a better quality breaker bar and a 17mm plastic jacketed socket wrench into the cloth tool bag. Last comment was that the nylon straps sewn to the cloth tool bag were oddly attached IMO. There was also a spring-loaded carabiner attached to the bag which would make attaching the bag to one of the trunk floor D-rings fast and easy.

Aside from that, we love the car! Still in the break-in period -- only 300 miles on it so far, so anxious to get the remaining break-in miles on soon.

Did your car come with the plastic tray located in the other compartment forward of the spare? That’s where my misc. items are located separate from the tool bag.

I recall seeing that linked thread before. Unfortunately, I do not have that plastic tray -- and don't see another compartment forward of the spare's compartment (illustrated as #1 in Fig 176 of the owner's manual on page 279). That illustration's description says "Applies to: Coupe/Sportback: To open the front compartment, lift the cargo floor by the strap (1)." That "cargo floor" appears to be located forward of the trunks D-ring tie downs that are located nearest to the rear setbacks.

I considered loosening the fastening ring holding the spare tire/wheel in place as shown in the thread lined above, and sliding the spare towards the passenger side but that didn't seem like a viable solution to the jack bag storage problem. But now I have an additional concern! In addition to the missing wheel wrench (Fig. 181) and the wheel hex socket (Fig., 184) that was supposed to have been in the vehicle tool kit, I also haven't found the wheel alignment pin that's used for aligning the wheel when installing a wheel during a change (see Fig. 185). And as if that's not enough, I also cannot locate the "Rear Towing Loop" that is used for towing from the rear bumper (Fig. 188 on page 288 of the manual). I don't see any reference to using the towing loop device to the front bumper?

Finally, that red plastic 90 degree-shaped tool (the "Parking Lock Emergency Release" Fig. 105 on page 109) that's supposed to be used for "Resetting the parking lock". Even the screwdriver shown in Fig.104 page 109 to remove the cover in the front cup holder is missing from the vehicle tool kit. Am I the only one who can't find any of these tools?

I will mention that when I first got the car home and put on my winter wheels, I noticed I was missing the plastic tool for pulling the plastic lug covers off the lug bolts. I was able to get the covers off with some difficulty but the next time I was in the dealers area I stopped in and they were happy to get one of those U-shaped removal tools (Fig. 180 on page 282). At that point in time, I wasn't aware of all the other missing tool kit items. I'm going to have to take another look in the trunk and see if all the missing tools are there somewhere.

To summarize, those missing items include:
Wheel Wrench (Fig. 181 pg 282)
Wheel Hex Socket (Fig. 184 pg 284)
Wheel Alignment Pin (Fig. 185 pg 284)
Rear Towing Loop (Fig. 188 pg 288)
Parking Lock Emergency Release (Fig. 105 pg 109)
Screwdriver for Emergency Release (Fig. 104 pg 109)

Apparently, the vehicle tool kit also includes the following items I cannot locate, from the Fuses and bulbs replacement page ...
Screwdriver and reversible Torx bit (Figure 190 pg 290). This might be the same screwdriver used for the Emergency Parking Lock Release.

I'll be back after searching the inventory!

Hey I'm back and have good news! That cargo mat #1 does lift up to reveal the plastic tray with an assortment of tools. Instead of flipping up towards the front of the car, it actually opens towards the rear of the car. There's a tiny little pull tab at the front of the panel that I couldn't get a grip on, but after folding the rear seats down, I was able to lift the edge of the panel and open it to reveal the plastic tray. Here's what I found in the vinyl tool kit in that tray:
    Wheel Wrench
Wheel Hex Socket *This is actually on one end of the screwdriver handle
    Wheel Alignment Pin
    Rear Towing Loop
    Parking Lock Emergency Release
Screwdriver for Emergency Release which also has the reversible Torx bit.

So all the tools I thought I was missing are there. There is an unused slot in the plastic tray, but I'm doubtful about the floor jack fitting into it. I might just store my breaker bar and 17mm socket in that tray though since I hope not to be using them anytime soon. Hope that helps!
