90% of what 90% of people do to modify any car is overkill. So what?

You think everyone that buys $3,000 fully adjustable coilovers needs $3,000 fully adjustable coilovers? Nope, $350 lowering springs will do just fine in most cases.

Aluminum bling is nice but i think its kind of a waste of $$$ for 95% of people with these cars and their driving habits. like B5carl plans to only do HWY pulls and nothing else, his coolant temps will prob never get hot but he still wants this radiator lol
It's still going to be on the highway most of the time I beat on it though. I do plan on doing some autox so I actually decided to get the g25-660 0.72 like you did since I can't get the twinscroll EFR anymore. Even though I'll probably only make 450whp max on pump gas...

Anyways, Good to hear that you don't have overheating issues with your car but I do know the 1.8t runs hotter than my Honda for example so that's why I'm thinking I need one of these. And when I say hotter I mean it reaches operating temp much sooner than my Honda. One of the mechanics I use to work with told me that these engines get so hot that they will produce sludge much sooner than other cars and clog up your oil feed, galleries etc..That's why it's important to stay on top of your oil changes. So you might as well get a good dual pass radiator to stay on the cooler side right?

Ah so you decided on the g25-660 instead of g30-770 for the head room? I think if you want to use water/meth you should be able to get 500whp, do you have 91 or 93 over on east coast? if you have 93 and use a good octane booster it will raise it to 95 which is waaaay better than 91 and lets you run more timing. I don't know about what your buddy said, because the thermostat controls the temp... once you're at operating temp which is 190F i think. the coolant is gonna stay at 190 while cruising, doesn't matter if its dual pass or triple pass or single pass radiator. The dual pass would only help you cool BACK down to 190 faster once you go above it. Also my b5 AEB takes a few min to get to operating temp- like 5 minutes of driving to the hwy then its at operating temp, much slower than my GLI which has the SAI and all that which gets up to temp in like 2 minutes. No idea why my AEB runs soooo cool but its a good thing forsure lol

I want the G25 for the quick spool that everyone is talking about. But I did consider it before I realized that I couldn't get the twinscroll manifold. And I have 93 but putting the booster in it doesn't sound like a bad idea. Dual pass is definitely better than single pass plus it's gonna hold more coolant so it will definitely help to keep it at operation temp.

Switch to the 83C thermostat, the stock is way to high IMO specially if you are running upgraded turbos and oil coolers.

Yikes-- $459 + shipping from ECS is high . Is there a group-buy offer or discount code for the folks in this thread?

I don't think I'll be buying this unless the shipped price starts with $3xx.

As of now there is no group buy planned for this pre order.

This is the only perfect drop-in fit radiator for the B5 1.8T out right now. The car we tested on was 1.8T bored out to 2.0 with an EFR6758 and the temperatures on that car have been perfect since day 1 and has had no issues since.

I believe that it's a great radiator for the B5 1.8T. But considering the triple-pass B5 S4 radiator is commonly available for $399 with free shipping (034Motorsport, FCP, Summit, Amazon), this dual-pass B5 1.8T radiator for $459 + shipping does not seem like a good deal by comparison.

Speaking for myself, $3xx shipped is reasonable.

With the increased cooling capacity of this radiator, is it possible to remove the clutched engine fan & rely solely on the electric A/C fan to maintain coolant temperatures?

That would be an advantage vs the OEM radiator + an additional electric fan to replace the clutched engine fan.

I just recently did that on stock radiator. 2 electric fans in place of existing ones , lower temp rad switch, 82c thermostat. Fans automatically trigger from the existing AC fan plug.

    Much better.

You don’t need any fans if you keep moving fast enough. But that increased cooling capacity requires airflow.

The clutch fan doesn’t do anything at highway speeds; that’s why it’s clutched. It’s the low speed and idling that requires fans to push/pull air and create that airflow across the fins.

I would also like to see some hard numbers, especially for that price. Also not gonna order from ECS 'cause fuck 'em.

Got mine installed Sunday afternoon. Looks and fits great. Only thing I saw that needed modified are the upper rubber bushings need trimming.

Will this be a limited run? I use my B5 for track and figure I’ll hold off until spring likely to purchase but don’t want to miss this.
