    No, mine was fine.

I vagged the orange lamp thing, 1 click unlock all doors and the window up/down. One of the three codes were different from the claimed stock code, so I wrote it down in case I wanted to go back.

here's a no-brainer.... did you check your gas cap? Did you fill up with gas around the sametime you VAG'd your car? Have you tried filling up after the VAG mods and making sure the gas cap is tight? Eitherway, you'll just need to run the diagnostic function on the entire car and when you see what block the error is falling under, just go into that block and reset the value.

Coincidence ? Maybe your gauge went bad at the same time. I'd check with the dealership too.

Re: vag-com done but problem arose....

Yea I had that problem, what happened is that somehow your car's computer now thinks you're car is a quattro and for some reason does the gas tank thing. All you have to do is take it to the dealer and they will fix it...

Same thing happened to me the first time I vag-com'd mine. Don't follow the exact code that is in the link. Instead follow the "value" chart for adding or subtracting from the original coding. I made that change on mine & it fixed the fuel gauge problem instantly.

Re: vag-com done but problem arose....

I put my vag codes for the SeatBelt chime back to the original code and the gas guage issue went away. So i narrowed the problem and it is not due to the remote window lock and unlock nor the euro headlights.

Where is this value chart add subtract thingy? I really want to get rid of this annoying seatbelt chime.

    Thanks

Re: vag-com done but problem arose....

I have this same problem and this is the only thread on it, but does anyone have any ideas on this. I swapped in the oem bi-xenons and vag-com'd the remote windows, seatbelt chime, and the euro headlights. I have the gas warning and the gauge is showing less gas than is really in the tank. We tried coding everything back to stock, and the problem is still there.

    Any ideas?

Re: vag-com done but problem arose....

I just posted this in the other thread:

My gas display did the same thing when I entered the code that was posted for the Seatbelt Chime (0023259) instead of calculating what it should be. My original code was 0022261 and not the 0023261. When I corrected it the fuel display issue went away. Should be 0022259.

My original code is 0023268. What do I do to get rid of the seatbelt chime? I dont really understand the add/subtract thing

Yeah so I've read that thread, I just dont understand why my value is different than everyone elses. I.E. I need to understand why and by how much my values need to change, I cant just use the values posted. I see all these ##s and X Y and Zs but I have no idea what they mean. Can I just change the digit indicated or do I subtract a given value from my number and then add a different number?

If you are attempting to change your seatbelt chime, read the "Appendix 1" portion carefully and multiple times. I am not trying to be condescending but I spent hours reading about VAGCOM and these basic mods before I attempted them (Type A, perfectionistic personality). ALWAYS write down your original codes before changing any.

    Try at your own risk,
but if 0023268 was your original code, you could try 0023258 (for NAR old) or 0023208 to eliminate all notifications. If that does not work, I am moving outside my comfort level but you could try either 0023251 or 0023201.

Separately, module 46 changes are simply additions and subtractions to your existing code. The existing code can vary from car to car.

Solid advice from doughbuy17. Ignore the part of the screen shot directions that tell you to replace the complete number. If you haven't - revert the coding to your original number. Then look at this chart again:

    Disable Seatbelt Chime
Module 17 (Instruments), recode to ###Z1, where:

    Z = Warning Type
    0 – Disabled
1 – Europe NCAP – Visual indicator always on, audio chime for 91 seconds active
2 – USA & Canada NAR Old – Visual indicator & audio chime for 6 seconds at startup
3 – USA & Canada NAR New – Visual indicator on, audio chime every 30 seconds
4 – Europe NCAP including front passenger seat
5 – USA & Canada NAR Old including front passenger seat
6 – USA & Canada NAR New including front passenger seat (North American B7 default)

You want to go to your restored number and edit ONLY the second digit from the right (the "Z" digit). I changed mine to zero to completely disable it.

I'm definitely not a VAG expert but like doughboy17 mentioned - I read the old twenty some page thread many times (before it got deleted) before I made the few changes I did. It's easy to get confused about this because in some modules, like the seat belt warning module, you substitute one number for another using the "XY" thing. In other modules you take the recorded number then subtract a certain amount to get the desired change.

Your value probably isn't different from everyone else. The screen shots show the values from that person's car. Each person has slightly different numbers based on the car's configuration. That's why you need to ignore the numbers given and go to the charts with the "XY" list.

What threw me off was the ###Z1. Really it should be ###Z#. For me I just changed from a 6 to a 2 so that I could keep a small reminder to buckle it up.

My question is with the head lights. What is the difference with a vag'd headlight 1021 vs 1023. What does the euro coding gain you?

EURO HEADLIGHTS (ambers off unless turn signal is on, also enables high beams + fogs)
