    Down 1 qt oil in just 260 miles.. please help

    I just bought a 2016 S4 w 65,000 miles on it. Oil light came on after I tank of gas. I put a quart in and now the light has come on in just 260 miles! I read it could be the pvc valve. Anyone have experience with this? I saw there was a TSB about oil consumption, but didn't know if it would cover my car since its out of warranty.

    Any help is greatly appreciated!

    PCV is a likely offender.

    Could be a leak as the sheilds can keep obvious oil spots from reaching the ground. Take off the lower shields and see if you can see oil anywhere. A quart in 260 miles is a a lot that if you dont have an obvious leak I'd start at the pcv.

    If you bought the car from a dealer take it back and have them figure it out. If private sale, check your state’s lemon laws, most likely they’ll be on the hook for it unless this issue was discussed pre-sale.

    Thanks guys! I did purchase it from a Subaru dealership. I’ll contact them tomorrow. Any idea if the TSB would cover the pvc?

    Do you have a dipstick and was oil level actually low? The oil level sensors have been known to go bad and will tell you to add oil even though actual level is fine.

    ^ These. Depending upon the state in which you purchased it, if you are less than 15-30 days from sale date, you should contact the dealership and push for them to cover the solution.

    Also, make sure the oil filter (top of engine near firewall side) had the cover and gasket installed correctly and that you do not have a leak at the oil change plug at the bottom of the engine. If the PCV does need to be changed, you will want to search the forum for other wear items you may want to change while the supercharger is off.

    My car had leaking valve cover gaskets. I had those changed out recently when I did the PCV too.
