Question CTS High Flow Cat: how does it actually look?

I am shopping around for a new HFC / test pipe. Never mind the optional 02 bung, but what I see is that the product pic on CTS looks very different from that on ECS's website.
I guess ECS photographed the actual product, but to be sure: @ owners of the CTS test pipe or HFC: what does the welds and finish look like?

Pic from CTS Turbo (beautiful finish!):

Pic from ECS Tuning (not so pretty...):

Im interested as well, im also in the market for a HFC, looking for the best option.

I assume they put their prize horse on display for the CTS website, but as long as the quality's there i dont mind. I dont think the disparity is too high in those photos, i think some of it is just the photographer.

Had one for my golf r and it looked like the ECS picture. The first one is obviously a glam shot but quality is definitely still there.

If you look at the welds it looks like a robot is used in the first pic, then a kid with a mig in the second pic.

    Each one is handmade anyways

Personally I would suggest a dp as well or hfc do combo like rai, I have one of those and I am very happy with it as it’s a dp combo and gave me a nice little boost

Recently installed one and it's a cross between the 2 pics. So far the quality is there as stated. It throws so much heat after a triple digit run, I'm gonna wrap mine anyway so "pretty" doesn't matter.

As long as the welds are good, pretty doesn’t matter. I think it’s a little unfair to expect every product to have welds that look like a row of dimes.

CTS products are pretty high regarded so the quality should be fine.

Is that a genuine concern on going to a HFC, i feel alot of warmth coming from the engine bay when its running and im bone stock except for my RS grill and spiderman bobblehead.

Tx heat, hot cat, 50/50 AC not a good mix.
BTW a wrapped cat supposedly helps w/ scavenging(more HP).

It will actually be cooler than the stock cat, engine bay dropped quit a bit when I went to the hfc

It does, that’s why race cars always wrap the turbos and the piping shortly after!

I recommend the 034 cat from FCP. Had a test pipe before and couldn’t tell much of a difference other than the exhaust not smelling like shit. Plus, FCP has the lifetime warranty.
