No problem. I am a previous mkIV owner and overshot my budget when I bought this B8. I have to wait for the holidays just to mod it because I don't have the finances. I just think of it as motivation to better myself and get a better job.

I'm not complaining about your pricing FYI. I know you have a lot of $ tied up in the design, materials, possible patent?, employees, rent, bla bla bla. I'm just a broke mofo is all haha. I like seeing 'Free Shipping' on it. +1 for you there too my friend.

Such a shame... I would love this but won't risk the TD1.

No worries! Was just giving you the heads up as we typically only list items on sale once a year.

As far as I know I do not believe a short shifter would cause a TD1 as there is no electronics involved. So you should be all clear!

It expressly states in the service bulletins for td1 that short shifters void the power train warranty.

Will install a Short shifter once my extended warranty expires next year. The built quality looks good just like the Eurocode one.

I might pick up one during black Fridays depending how much a price difference is compared to the Eurocode one.

    Someone review it ASAP! Lol.

I was told by the service department that a SS will in fact void your power train warranty. I'm learning that just about everything besides farting in your Audi will void the warranty on these things. I guess the new clause is stating that depending on what you ate previously to your fart, you may void the warranty though.

The TD1 code would need to be manual entered by the tech. So simply installing this will not trigger the code. As with any mods to your Audi under warranty, you should always check with your dealership first.

Not to mention this shifter is adjustable. Once it's installed you can adjust it to be very close to how it would look/operate normally with out much complication prior to taking your vehicle in. Then readjusting it once it returns from service.

Jason, How simple is the adjusment? can it be done from inside the car? or underneath? anything to remove to make the adjustment?

That's a great point. Unless the removed the boot they would probably not even notice...

As asked above -- how simple is the adjustment?

As I already have the old Strat SS, and have other items on my mod agenda ( including ECS spacers ), I'm unlikely to indulge in this. But I did read thru the install instructions ... my compliments to whomever at ECS prepared them. Very comprehensive.

Which adjustment are you referring to? Both are rather simple. Height of the shifter can be adjusted while the shifter is still in the vehicle and spinning the shifter shaft up or down. The throw can be adjusted from underneath by placing the locking bolt in 1 of the 4 hole locations.

It only effects front to back throw. The distance side to side between gears will remain the same.

Install was not too difficult, took a total of 4 hours, 1 of those just being going back under to adjust until I was happy. Getting the exhaust heat shield completely out of the way is basically impossible, so maneuvering my hands/wrench in the right spot was a pain while lying on the floor. A lift or even a nice tall floor jack would have given much better access. Otherwise it was quite straightforward and instructions are thorough.

It did take me 3 or 4 tries to get the adjustment dialed in, but it's basically perfect now. Very small adjustments (talking about the bottom piece that connects to the shift linkage) make a big difference. Go 1mm at a time.

I went as aggressive with the settings as I could, bottom hole for shortest throw and threaded the shifter rod down pretty much all the way down. Very glad I did, it feels great, significantly shorter than stock, and still in a perfectly comfortable position. I was expecting some drawback, like stiffer shifts or something, but I can't say there is. Therefore if you're doing this mod, I'd recommend the shortest throw setting; you bought the thing for that purpose, might as well get everything out of it.

Only have one test drive under my belt so far, it's a huge improvement and easily the most fun mod yet. It just feels so good! I've had a number of other cars that I put short throw shifters on, it's always been one of my favorite mods, and this one is the best in my experience all around.

I agree with this almost 100%. My shifts are a little stiffer than stock was, but going shorter loses leverage, so it should be expected.

That "easy" on the install directions is misleading... For a normal owner, doing this on their back with jack stands, it's a bit of a pain. Well worth the frustration though. The shifter now feels like it belongs in a german luxury car rather than a 10 year old VW in Mexico.

Not at this time, but we do have a pdf on the site. As for knob stock is great with our shifter, guys also really like the BFI knobs.

Thanks. Do you have installers in the bay area and how much do they charge?
Based on your PDF installation is pretty straightforward, but unfortunately I don't have a garage and if I jack up the car I risk a fine from the HOA :(
