I've been waiting to post here until I had something worth posting. Finally got my wheels on, and I really like how they turned out! 2010 Q5 3.2L FSI P+. Picked up the car in June, single owner with low miles. Loving the ride so far, super smooth running! Now on the to build --

Mods so far:
Suspension:
- Eurocode sway bars F+R.

Interior:
- Facelift shift knob
- Full interior white LED swap
- Refreshed B8 steering wheel.
- Audi rings LED projection puddle lights

Exterior:
- Facelift headlights and taillights
- Forgestar F14 20x9.5 et30 in gunmetal finish (no more), changed to Verde Parallax 20x9.0 et25 gloss black wrapped in Continental DWS06 A/S 255/45r20
- RS style honeycomb fog light grille
- Plastidipped black front grille chrome
- Audi SQ fender wing extensions
- Shaved rear emblems
- Amber LED front turn signals
- LED reverse bulbs
- Ziza yellow fogs.

❄️Winter mode:❄️
- Stock Audi Q5 19x8 5 spokes plastidipped black, Yokohama iceguard iG51v 235/55r19

Engine:
- Stock as stock could be.
- Custom Magnaflow Exhaust - Magnaflow center resonated X-pipe 11385, dual Magnaflow 11235, Magnaflow 4” slash cut tips 35127 TOO MUCH DRONE, so this was removed 5/2018.

VAGCOM mods:
- Gauge sweep at startup
- Turn signal "Wink" OFF
- LEDs dim to 50% with headlights on (9% is stock)
- Tail lights ON as DRLs
- Open/close windows and sunroof with long press on remote
- Footwell lights ON while driving
- Annoying beep delete.


Mods to come:
RS Style mesh grille
Bilstein B12 suspension kit

Update: Facelift headlight and taillight conversion completed, and blacked out the OEM grill (12/11/17)

Install on the facelift eBay shift knob. The fit wasn't quite drop in for pre facelift cars as the plastic moulding is shaped slightly different. So I had to pry out the finish staples off both shifter boots and reattach the old with the new. Done easy with a small flathead and finish stapler so not a bad $50 mod.

Got the facelift tail lights in tonight! They were a breeze with the adapters --took about 10 minutes per side. Such a dramatic change from pre-FL!






And I have these bad boys to tackle next!

I have an 11 2.0 that I’m doing headlights on. Little tricky going from stock halogens to facelift headlights. Any thoughts there? Thanks in advance!

Bad news is a couple CELs came up and turned out to be P0491 and P0492 for Secondary Air Injection System Insufficient Flow Bank 1 and 2. Good news is that it’s 100% covered under warranty extension for the Emissions Control Systems (10 years or 120k mi). They said they cleaned the exhaust ports but the carbon buildup on the intake ports are not covered under this warranty extension .
I thought I’d put this info here in case others are wondering about these fault codes.

car is looking fresh.....id def black out the window trim and buy some matte or chrome mirror caps

I have no idea, sorry. I thought in order to get the sweeping light, you need the euro taillight plus the kufatec adapter in order for it to work.

I bought my kit from dj and his homemade FL taillight adapters worked just fine.

Thanks man! I'd be all over the SQ if it were anywhere close to my budget but so far loving the Reg Q.

The steering wheel is from Thunderdent ad in the q5 classifieds. Just the regular OEM wheel, just in new condition. The ad is still there last I checked.

I just got the Carista dongle last night so I changed the following mods:
-Gauge sweep at startup
-Turn signal "Wink" OFF
-LEDs dim to 50% with headlights on (9% is stock)
-Tail lights ON as DRLs
-Open/close windows and sunroof with long press on remote
-Footwells (dim)on while driving.
-Service indicator cleared . Side note I dropped in to Audi Wilsonville and they wanted $40 to just clear the service indicator. Yah that! Service gave the excuse of they have to plug it in to a "$3000 computer" to clear it. Big whoop.

Got a lot done today. I had the "pleasure" of installing the facelift headlights. Took me about 5 hours to do, but I was taking my time and making sure things were aligned right. It was the biggest pita getting the new headlight tray slid into place at the same time attaching it to the new metal bracket. Of course having rear-facing bolts attaching the tray didn't help either.. On to the pics!

I put some winter rubber on the stockers, and plastidipped them black. I’m trying to hold on installing them until absolutely necessary. Forecasted to be close to 70s in portland today .

Yessir, that'd be fun! I see you painted yours gloss black. Sprayed or platidipped?

IMO that looks 10X better than the RS grille.
RS has always looked cheap to me.

Looks good - how many coats of plastidip on the grille?

One light coat follow by 3-4 thicker coats. More the better because it makes it easier to peel off in case I change my mind.

Did a couple pocket dyno runs today, conditions were drizzly and 42 deg. Also was able to confirm the 3.2L has in fact have Launch Control! Nothing ground breaking, but not bad for a 4450 lb SUV (also measured that at the weigh station today).

It’s a good demonstration of what a difference lighter weight wheels can make on an otherwise stock Q5, as the Forgestars shaved 4lbs per corner. Stock specs I found were between 7.2-6.5s.

Nice build! Any plans for for a facelift front bumper as well?

6.3 secs 0-60 is pretty good for a Q5 3.2, a B8 A4 2.0T with the same 6-speed auto does it in 6.5secs

Got into winter mode yesterday. Installed the fender wing extensions and put the winter shoes on! Did I need to take my wheels off to install the extensions? No, but it made it way easier since I was already swapping the wheels anyway.

Also got my installed black Audi lug covers for the clean look with the painted stock 5 spokers. Needs spacers, but I’m pleased with the look for now.

Installed these Audi rings LED projection puddle lights from amazon. They were a tight fit but with some careful maneuvering they popped in. 5 mins each side. Not a bad cosmetic upgrade. Also added 5 hp, so nbd...

They always get a little reaction out of people when they first see it, very OEM+. Its identical to the allroad puddle lights, and across the entire B8 platform, I believe. I ordered a 4 pack for the Q, only used 2 and put the other 2 in the allroad when I got it. Fit perfectly. Bought this exact set.
