Car died at a light for no reason, tune issue?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I was sitting at a red light today waiting to turn left when all of a sudden my MMI screen turned off, and the screen in between the RPM and MPH on my dash died. Then then every light on my dash came on, and the car went "beeeeeeep" and then the entire car died completely. I quickly put the car in park, and restarted it and it turned on fine and I was able to get it into a parking lot. I have an obd scan tool which I used but no codes came up. Does anyone know what the hell causes this?

Just for reference I am full APR Ultra + DP. I'm not sure if this is a tune issue, or if it is a mechanical issue.

    Thanks in advance

    Loose battery terminal? Alternator issue?

I thought it might be a battery issue but it was replaced by Audi less than 6 moths ago. Then I thought about the alternator so I went to AutoZone and they tested everything, and the only thing came up was a voltage regulator failure. I'm not sure how accurate AutoZone's little handheld is but it could definitely be the problem.

^^^A faulty voltage regulator can cause all sorts of issues. I would find out for sure if that is the case before something expensive potentially gets fried.

I'm bringing it to my shop tomorrow. This is the first time this has happened so I think I should be okay. Just wondering if this has happened to anyone else.

I just don't see how the voltage regulator could make the entire car die?

Sounds like the voltage regulator is faulty. If the system detects too much voltage (over voltage condition) it shuts down the components for protection. I had this happen a couple of times, every occurrence was sitting at a light and on a hot day. As soon as I'd get going each component shut down and lost power completely until I restarted the car.

This is exactly how mine acted and I got similar codes when my battery was on the way out. Would only happen when stopped. But that you've recently had your battery replaced means the replacement battery is crap or there's another problem.

My car is still having a weird problem idling. It gets super clunky and then revs itself, then the revs drop back to normal and it starts getting super clunky almost like it's cammed

Edit: After scanning with Carista, it seems to be misfiring. My guess is the spark plugs from ultra?
